Chapter 303: Receiving the Certificate
In the blink of an eye, it was January 15th.
Quinton flew from Goldenvale to Thornfield a day early.
First, to pick up Natalie and bring her home, and second, this was the day Amelia and Samuel were getting their marriage registered.
Amelia and Samuel had decided to get legally married first before holding the wedding ceremony.
The wedding venue was set at the island where Felix was currently staying.
All their friends and family would be invited to attend.
After the wedding, they would leave straight for their honeymoon.
According to Samuel's plan, they would go on a world tour.
Amelia had been a bit anxious about the mid-year wedding, but hearing this, she quickly started looking forward to it.
She had never really relaxed before.
If they could travel around the world, that would be true relaxation.
Natalie held a small booklet and said, "The appointment is at eleven o'clock. If you leave an hour early, you'll get the marriage certificate right around eleven."
Amelia was puzzled. "Does it need to be planned this precisely?"
Quinton said, "Of course, this is a major life event. There can't be any mistakes."
He added, "You're my only daughter. For your wedding, of course I need to make thorough preparations."
Amelia laughed. "When I first visited you at the detention center, you didn't ask much about me. You only asked about Mom."
Quinton then explained his true thought process.
"You came out of your mom's belly, not mine. You're naturally closer to your mom, but it's different with me. Whether it's father and son or father and daughter, feelings need to be built. "
He added, "Besides, I didn't know you well back then. Even seeing you, it didn't feel real. I felt like I was dreaming. I really didn't know what to talk about, so of course I could only talk about your mom."
Amelia couldn't help but laugh.
Quinton was really straightforwardly honest.
She used to wonder who Felix and Grant got their personalities from. Apparently, it was from Quinton.
As they were talking, Samuel arrived.
He was still wearing a black suit, but on his chest, he wore the brooch Amelia had given him earlier
Amelia raised an eyebrow and said, "I asked you a few days ago, and you said you left the brooch in Goldenvale and didn't bring it?"
Samuel tugged at his lips and said, "I had them send it to me the day before yesterday."
This was the first real gift she had given him after they got together. It meant a lot.
He wanted to wear this brooch when registering their marriage.
A warm feeling flowed through Amelia's heart.
After chatting for a bit, Amelia went upstairs to change.
Samuel stayed in the living room and took out a small booklet.
"What's this?" Quinton asked.
Samuel said very seriously, "It's a gift for you. Please take a look."
He planned to hold a traditional wedding in Goldenvale after the beach wedding on the island.
Quinton took it and looked.
He knew Samuel was wealthy, but didn't know he was this rich.
The gifts listed were so substantial they made Quinton a bit dizzy.
"Is this the standard here in Thornfield?"
Samuel said, "I don't know about others. I just want to give Amelia the best."
This aligned perfectly with Quinton's own thinking.
He now looked at Samuel the same way Natalie did,the more he looked, the more satisfied he was.
If nothing else, Samuel was definitely sincere.
"We should also start preparing Amelia's wedding gift," Quinton said to Natalie.
The wedding date was set for June 8th.
They originally thought they didn't need to prepare the wedding gift this early, but after seeing the gift list Samuel presented, they didn't dare slack off.
They needed to start preparing early.
Soon, Amelia came downstairs.
She wore a white silk camisole blouse on top and a small leather skirt on the bottom, with just thin stockings, showing off her slender figure.
Samuel's brow furrowed.
"It's snowing again outside. You're dressed so lightly, you'll catch a cold."
Amelia said she would put on a thick down coat when going out.
She added, "I want to take pretty photos."
Samuel said, "You look beautiful in anything."
Natalie smiled. "It's a happy day today, just let her be. She'll be in the car anyway, so she won't be in the wind."
Amelia winked at Natalie.
In matters like this, women understood women.
Since Natalie said so, Samuel could only agree.
However, when leaving, he still took off his scarf and gave it to her.
His scarf carried the faint pine scent from his body.
Amelia sniffed it, and her ears inexplicably felt a bit warm.
Soon the car started moving.
The weather today wasn't great, dark clouds loomed overhead, and heavy snow fell like goose feathers.
Fortunately, Thornfield's snow removal on the roads was well done, so the car didn't have to worry about slipping.
However, they were probably lucky—by the time they reached the city hall, the snow had stopped.
The dark clouds at the horizon parted, and golden sunlight suddenly appeared, shining on people with a very warm feeling.
"Today is a good day," Samuel said, holding her hand.
Amelia smiled. "Of course it's a good day."
...
They soon entered the city hall.
Given their special status, Samuel had made arrangements in advance. The marriage registration process wouldn't be handled in the main hall, to avoid media attention and crowds, which would add unnecessary trouble.
The person in charge personally received them and led them to an office to handle the registration.
At exactly eleven o'clock, the marriage certificates were handed to them.
"I wish you both a happy life and a sweet marriage."
"Thank you." Samuel nodded and handed over a gift he had prepared in advance.
The person in charge took it in hand. Although it was just some candy, he was so excited his hands were shaking.
This was a gift from Samuel!
After leaving the city hall, Amelia immediately took a photo of the marriage certificate and posted it to the Richardson family group chat.
Her phone soon wouldn't stop ringing.
Her brothers were congratulating Amelia.
Hunter, far away in Vesperia, also replied.
"Congratulations on your marriage, Amelia."
Amelia took the opportunity to ask him, "Hunter, when are you coming back?"
"In a week. I'll tell you once the specific time is set."
With that, everyone started chattering again.
Only Felix, behind his phone screen, had dim eyes.
He still didn't know the wedding would be held on the island.
He just assumed he might not be invited home to attend the wedding.
He felt disappointed, but not angry.
People always have to pay for their reckless mistakes.
Quinton and Natalie didn't comment in the group chat, but when Amelia got home, they directly presented the wedding gift they had just prepared.
"You two should live well together. When you have disagreements, try to see things from each other's perspective. If you both stand in each other's shoes, there won't be any conflicts you can't resolve."
"Thank you, Mom." They said in unison.
Natalie smiled with relief and said, "You must be hungry, right? Lunch will be ready soon."
But at that moment, Samuel received a phone call.
