Chapter 302 Waiting for Her to Be Abandoned
Seeing Samuel, Reid's eyes widened in shock.
Samuel just said he had her back?
Didn't Amelia say they were only together in name, that Samuel looked down on her and was just using her?
Then Amelia quickly walked up to Samuel, and the coldness around him instantly melted away. With an incredibly gentle expression, he took her hand.
Watching their fingers intertwine, Reid finally understood completely.
Everything Amelia said was a lie!
Her only goal was that building!
Reid clenched his fists tight, so angry he could almost spit blood.
But Samuel's deep eyes swept over him again with a cold, almost tangible gaze. He didn't dare show even a hint of anger, only managing to squeeze out a smile with extremely twisted lines on his face.
"Mr. Crawford, I've heard so much about you."
"I've heard quite a bit about you too."
Samuel's thin lips curved slightly as he walked up to Reid.
Before Reid could produce a bigger, more natural smile, Samuel suddenly dropped the curve of his lips and spoke in a cold, heavy voice, "I heard my fiancée was almost killed by you people at the Wood Villa?"
Reid's eyes suddenly widened, all color draining from his face.
"No, no, that's not true."
"Really?"
Samuel looked at Amelia, wanting to get a definite answer from her.
Reid was so scared he broke out in a sweat, his eyes full of pleading as he looked at Amelia.
Just moments ago, Amelia had wanted to use Samuel's power to humiliate Reid thoroughly.
But now she suddenly had no interest.
Humiliating Reid was just a waste of her time.
So Amelia got straight to the point, "Whether it happened or not depends on whether the Wood family people will ever appear in front of me again."
Reid panicked.
"Didn't we already give you that building?"
"That's what you owed my mom."
"What do you mean owed? Didn't my mom give your mom her life? Without my mom, your mum wouldn't be alive and you wouldn't even exist.. Now you're saying we owe your mom? Do you know how much trouble your mom caused the family when she refused that marriage?"
He was so angry he forgot Samuel was right there.
Amelia lost her patience.
"I'll leave this for you to handle."
"Okay." Samuel nodded casually, as if agreeing to have dinner with her tonight.
As soon as Samuel spoke, Reid panicked.
In his eyes, Amelia had no power to threaten him, but Samuel was like a grim reaper who could decide whether he lives or die..
"I misspoke, Amelia, it's my fault. Didn't you say you wanted us to never appear in front of you again? Fine, I agree. Amelia, Mr. Crawford, trust me, I'll never come again, and I'll make sure the family doesn't appear in front of you either."
He knew that once Samuel got involved, it wouldn't just be about whether Victor would get in trouble.
The entire Wood family would pay a huge price.
Even worse, the entire Wood family could perish because of Samuel's anger.
So he immediately backed down.
But Amelia was already too lazy to care what he said. She went straight upstairs, not wanting to see him.
Getting angry over someone like this was just a waste of her energy.
Seeing Amelia leave, Reid had no choice but to beg Samuel.
"Samuel, I really know I was wrong. I didn't know about the poison hidden in the bracelet. And we gave compensation afterward."
Samuel impatiently picked at his ear.
"She just said it—whether to pursue it or not depends on what you do. As for whether you knew or not, that also depends on what you do. Got it?"
In other words, what Julia did was the same as what the entire Wood family did.
If they didn't want to be implicated, they should never appear in front of the Richardson family again.
Reid quickly agreed.
"Yes, yes, yes, I understand. Thank you for letting me off."
He was very afraid of Samuel.
Samuel looked down on this kind of person who bullied the weak and feared the strong.
He spoke with contempt, "You can get lost now."
Reid didn't dare delay any longer and stumbled out as if fleeing.
Even after returning to the Wood family, Reid's hands were still shaking.
When Madeline asked him about the situation, he seemed not to hear, sitting there in a daze.
It wasn't until Iris shook his arm that he suddenly came back to his senses.
"Mom's asking you, what did Amelia say?" Iris said.
Actually, they didn't need to ask—from the moment Reid came back, he had not been in a good mood.
But everyone still held onto a glimmer of hope.
Even Victor hoped Reid could successfully get promoted.
If he get's promoted to a high position, he could help the Wood family rise again—this was the common thought of the Wood family.
Reid waved his hand and said with a bitter smile, "She tricked us."
He told everyone exactly what had just happened.
Everyone was very angry.
Madeline even forgot her "noble" status and cursed with extremely vulgar language.
"Let's go! We'll all go together and demand an explanation from them!"
"Mom should go too, right? Mom's so old, Samuel wouldn't bully an elderly person, would he?"
"That's enough!"
Reid stopped them, "Aren't things bad enough already? Samuel took over the entire Crawford Group in such a short time—do you think he's some soft-hearted person? Forget about Mom, even a newborn baby would have to die if it got in his way!"
Everyone felt like they'd been doused with cold water.
Samuel had a "bad reputation."
Especially to these people who were completely unfamiliar with him, he seemed like a vicious grim reaper.
No one dared to provoke him.
It was precisely because of this bad reputation that the Wood family quickly backed down.
But Iris still couldn't swallow this insult.
"So we're just going to be tricked and bullied without doing anything?"
"We don't need to do anything for now."
Victor suddenly spoke up, "How could someone like Samuel really care about a woman who came back from the countryside? He's just interested in the novelty for now. After all, Amelia is indeed beautiful."
"You mean?"
"Wait. Wait for Samuel to get tired of her. When that time comes, will she still dare treat us this way when we show up? She's only daring to openly deceive us because she has Samuel as her backer. Once Samuel leaves her, she'll fall too."
"Exactly!"
Everyone's eyes lit up.
Hope rekindled in their hearts.
"When that happens, we can not only get the building back, but also demand a huge compensation from them!" Julia said.
Their golden sculpture wasn't given away for nothing.
They had to get it back with interest!
"Since I don't have much time during work, you guys keep an eye on their every move," Reid said.
"Got it, we'll watch them," Victor said.
So everyone began to closely monitor the Richardson family's movements.
Just waiting for the day when Samuel would tire of Amelia.
