Chapter 272: Unbuttoning His Buttons
The most beautiful flowers, the warmest candlelight, the finest red wine—only these were worthy of his date with Cordelia tonight.
She didn’t even have the patience to wait for the elevator, so she took the stairs instead.
The waiter had a master keycard used by hotel staff, which Amelia took when she left.
So she easily opened the door to room 702.
Room 702 was a suite with all the lights on.
The living room was empty, with only faint sounds coming from the bedroom.
Like the rustling of fabric.
Amelia took a coat from the rack by the entrance and slowly made her way toward the bedroom.
The coat rack was solid wood and quite heavy.
Using it to hit someone could knock them out cold.
With more force, it could kill someone.
Amelia didn’t know who was inside, so, just in case, she grabbed a handy tool.
She was worried it might be remnants of The Hays family, waiting to take revenge.
The bedroom door wasn't fully closed, leaving a small gap. Through it, Amelia saw a long-haired woman sitting on top of Samuel, using her hands to unbutton his shirt.
Samuel’s eyes were closed, his brows furrowed, cheeks flushed an unhealthy red, and forehead slick with sweat—he looked extremely uncomfortable.
He seemed completely unaware of the woman on top of him.
Amelia only looked for a second before raising her foot and kicking the door open hard.
The woman looked over at her in shock.
Their eyes met, and Amelia finally saw the woman's face.
It was none other than Scarlett!
Scarlett clearly hadn’t expected Amelia to barge in. Her eyes went wide, and her face flushed instantly.
"You—you—how are you here?"
Without wasting words, Amelia swung the coat rack at Scarlett's head.
With a dull thud, Scarlett fell.
Amelia controlled her strength, not cracking Scarlett's head open, just knocking her unconscious.
She dropped the coat, pulled Scarlett off Samuel, and threw her to the floor, then checked Samuel’s pulse.
His heart rate was over 140.
Amelia hadn't brought her medical kit today, so she could only call Faith.
"Do you have your medical kit with you?"
Faith was her student who, besides learning cooking, also studied medicine.
Faith also had a habit of carrying a medical kit.
Hearing this, Faith said in confusion, "I did bring it. What's wrong? Are you not feeling well?"
“It’s Samuel,” she paused, then added, “he had a bit too much to drink. We’re in room 702 upstairs. Bring the medical kit—and don’t tell anyone else.”
"Okay."
Faith was usually chatty, but at critical moments she was very composed.
After hanging up decisively, she made an excuse about going to the bathroom and slipped away, quickly making her way upstairs.
At the same time, Amelia called Finn.
Finn answered almost instantly, asking in surprise, "Amelia? What's wrong?"
Amelia checked Samuel's condition while saying, "Come up to room 702 and take Scarlett away."
Her voice carried a faint tremor.
Only when she was extremely angry would she sound like this.
Finn knew her temperament—she wouldn’t act this way unless something truly serious had happened.
So he didn't ask why, immediately saying, "I'll be right up."
Just as she hung up, Faith arrived.
Seeing Scarlett unconscious on the floor, she was startled.
Seeing Samuel’s abnormal complexion, she—also a doctor—had already guessed what was happening.
"I brought the stuff. Do you need me to do it?"
She was afraid Amelia might not control her treatment technique well while emotionally agitated.
Amelia shook her head.
"I'll do it myself. Go downstairs to 602 and give Jeremy a general idea of what's happening here. Tell him to keep a close eye on that person. This matter can't be handled quietly."
She didn't want to hold back anymore.
Holding back had only led to being schemed against again and again.
If she had known Scarlett would scheme against her again, she should have made a bigger deal of it when she discovered Scarlett had poisoned Anthony.
But time couldn't be turned back.
However, she wouldn't give Scarlett a third chance to harm her.
"Okay, I'll go now." Faith said, "If you need help here, call me anytime."
"Will do." Amelia nodded.
Not long after Faith left, Finn arrived.
He didn't know the full situation yet, so he hadn't brought anyone.
As soon as he entered, he saw Scarlett on the floor.
Just then, Scarlett woke up. Seeing Finn, she scrambled to her feet, crying out, “She hit me! She knocked me out with that coat!”
Amelia laughed.
What a case of turning the tables!
Just as she was about to speak, Finn slapped Scarlett across the face.
Scarlett's face snapped to the side.
The back of her head ached from Amelia’s blow, and now her cheek burned from Finn’s slap, her gums throbbing.
"You hit me?"
She looked at Finn in disbelief.
He had hit her without even asking what happened?
But Finn didn't even look at her, directly asking Amelia what was going on.
Amelia said expressionlessly, "She drugged Samuel with an aphrodisiac."
Finn's brow furrowed slightly.
Amelia continued, “At first, she intended to drug me—probably hoping I’d be assaulted or humiliated in public.”But the juice she had someone give me was accidentally drunk by Samuel, so she changed her plan and lured me into a room downstairs.Meanwhile, she came to Samuel's room herself. When I came in, she was about to undress Samuel."
Finn's face turned extremely ugly.
Scarlett drugging Samuel didn't affect him much emotionally.
He was just annoyed that Scarlett had caused trouble for him again.
But when he heard that Scarlett had originally planned to drug Amelia, his face darkened instantly.
"Are you crazy?"
Finn searched Scarlett's face. "I locked you away for an entire day — I thought it would make you think. Instead, you come back worse?"
Scarlett denied it guiltily, "It's not like she said."
But her denial was weak.
Amelia's voice cut through the silence. "The person she bribed is in room 602. Take her there — have them identify her face to face." She paused. "I won't let this go."
"Okay, after we get to the bottom of this, I'll tell Anthony everything."
Finn said, then glanced at the unconscious Samuel and asked, "Do you need help here?"
"No, I can handle it."
"Okay, got it."
Finn responded, then grabbed Scarlett's arm.
"Let's go!"
"I'm not going." Scarlett panicked.
Anthony was already done with her — she could feel it. If he found out about this, she didn't want to think about what he was capable of.
But even so, she still felt no remorse.
She only hated that her plan wasn't thorough enough, allowing Amelia to track her down.
Her idea had indeed been to have someone rape Amelia.
But Amelia hadn't drunk that juice.
When she learned that Samuel had drunk the juice instead, something shifted in her. If Amelia could take Finn from her — then she would take Samuel.
After all, she couldn't be Finn's wife anymore, so she'd be Samuel's wife!
She'd planned to call reporters after the deed was done.
Force Samuel to acknowledge it whether he wanted to or not.
Make him marry her.
But the plan died before it even started.
She was so bitter!
Bitter that the plan couldn't go as she'd envisioned.
Bitter that Amelia could be so perceptive.
Bitter that the person she'd hired wasn't efficient enough.
But she never considered that even if her plan had succeeded, Samuel would never marry her.
And those reporters she'd planned to call after the fact would never dare publish such news.
Her plan was doomed to fail from the start.
She was too foolish and too arrogant.
Scarlett clung desperately to the door handle, refusing to leave.
"I'm not going!" Her voice dropped to something dangerous. "And don't you dare tell Grandpa — because if you do, I'll make sure the whole world knows what you are. A murderer." She held his gaze. "We'll both burn for it."
Finn completely ignored her threat. After knocking her hand off the door handle, he forcibly dragged her out.
The suite finally fell quiet.
Amelia let out a quiet breath and reached for the medical kit. She sterilized the needles in silence, then parted Samuel's shirt and got to work.
After about ten minutes, Samuel slowly came to.
His head was splitting.
But with Amelia sitting right beside him, the pain had somehow dulled.
"How long was I out?"
"Not long, about ten minutes."
Amelia said, pulling the needles from his body and asking, "Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere else now?"
Samuel wanted to say he was fine.
He still didn't know he'd been drugged with an aphrodisiac.
But before he could speak, Amelia added, "Don't lie to me. You know I hate being lied to most."
Samuel had to tell the truth, "My head hurts a bit, and I feel a bit hot."
Then said, "I usually hold my liquor well. Today I probably mixed drinks, so that's why..."
"You were drugged with an aphrodisiac." Amelia interrupted him.
Samuel looked up in shock.
"What?"
Amelia carefully told him what had happened while he was unconscious.
Samuel's face changed dramatically, looking like he wanted to kill someone.
"Scarlett is asking for death!"
He pushed himself out of bed, intent on settling accounts with Scarlett — but two steps in, the room tilted and his knees nearly gave.
Fortunately, Amelia was quick to catch him.
"I just helped you expel part of the aphrodisiac. You're weak right now, so stop struggling and lie back down."
Samuel couldn't ignore Amelia's words, so he had to lie back down.
Amelia placed a pillow behind him and adjusted him to a comfortable position.
Samuel let out a small breath, and that dizzy feeling eased somewhat.
And he clearly felt his strength slowly returning bit by bit.
"What does Finn think?" he asked.
"He said he'll tell Anthony."
Samuel let out a cold laugh. "And what good would telling Anthony do? He spoils Scarlett more than anyone. He'll just wave it off in the end." I think we should just call the police and the media."
Just imagining Scarlett sitting on him unbuttoning his shirt made his stomach turn.
"That would only damage your reputation," Amelia said. "Let the Lewis family handle their own mess. If we hold firm, they won't dare go easy on Scarlett."This time they'll definitely punish her severely."
