Chapter 271 Drugging

Chapter 271 Drugging

Amelia isn't into gossip, but she has someone around her who is—Faith.

Faith is well-connected, so she knows gossip from everywhere.

And she loves to chat about it endlessly with Amelia.

That's how she knew that Finn's attitude toward Scarlett had changed.

He was trying hard to accept Scarlett.

Logically, with Finn making such a change, Scarlett shouldn't be as hostile toward Amelia as before. But now, not only had the hostility not disappeared, it had actually escalated into hatred.

She couldn't figure it out at all.

But Amelia had no time to dwell on these things, because after entering the lounge, she discovered that it wasn't just Liam and the Shadow Operations Division members from Thornfield who had come.

"Dad, Mom, how did you all get here? When did you arrive?"

Her face was full of surprise.

Not only had Quinton and Natalie come, but the entire Richardson family had come over, including Holden.

Besides them, Faith, Byron and others had also come.

The lounge was packed full of her family.

She was almost crying tears of joy.

Natalie held her hand tightly and said, "Samuel arranged a private plane. We just arrived less than half an hour ago. We wanted to surprise you, so we didn't tell you."

Amelia's nose tingled.

She looked at Samuel, not knowing what to say for a moment.

She was so surprised!

After Amelia excitedly greeted everyone, Samuel finally explained.

When they were building the snowman at noon, Amelia had regretted that her family couldn't see such a beautiful snowman. Samuel had later been thinking about how to transport the snowman back.

He called Yosef to ask, and Yosef hit the nail on the head: "Amelia just misses her family, she doesn't want them to see the snowman."

So that's how he decided to bring Amelia's family and friends here, using a private plane.
"Thank you." Amelia sniffled, forcing herself not to cry.

"Didn't we say we don't say thank you to each other?"

Amelia pulled out a smile and said, "Right, no more of that. Let's celebrate the New Year properly."

"Okay."

The meal was very lively.

The lounge was full of Amelia's friends, as well as Jeremy and York.

She had never dreamed of today's scene.

She hadn't been this happy in a long time. Her mouth was getting stiff from smiling so much.

Later in the evening, Yosef arrived.

He had eaten dinner at The Dobbins Manor first before coming over.

But he came empty-handed and got mocked by Samuel.

Yosef raised his hand and said, "Who says I came empty-handed?"

As he finished speaking, he pulled out a big stack of envelopes from his coat.

"Come on, everyone gets one!"

Faith was the first to grab one. Opening it, she found it was a card.

"All Seasons Table cards - everyone can eat free with the card from now on, valid for life," Yosef said.

"That's generous!"

Everyone immediately started grabbing them.

All Seasons Table had been opening more and more branches, and now almost all developed cities had an All Seasons Table.

Faith was beaming and helped Amelia grab one too.

But after grabbing it, she pulled Amelia aside and said mysteriously, "I've got some gossip to tell you."

"What gossip?"

Amelia was in a good mood and willing to listen to her chatter.

Faith said, "Finn and Scarlett got divorced."

Amelia was shocked.

"When did this happen?"

"Today."

"Isn't the court closed for the holiday?"

"How do you think I got the news? They specifically made the court staff work overtime just to process the divorce."

"There's another piece of gossip."

"What?"

"Finn and his group are eating downstairs."

Amelia actually knew this.

She said, "I ran into him when I took the elevator up. He was with Scarlett."

"But do you know why they're eating together even though they got divorced?"

"No idea."

Faith immediately said, "Scarlett's father recognized Finn as his godson. Finn isn't called Finn O'Connor anymore, he's called Finn Lewis now. He's going to be the legitimate heir of The Lewis Family from now on."

Amelia's mouth twitched.

She just felt the whole thing was absurd.

"Why don't you find out what exactly happened?" Faith said.

Amelia immediately shook her head. "I don't like prying into other people's business. This is their family matter, you shouldn't get involved either. Let's just eat."

Faith shrugged, thinking Amelia had no interest in gossip at all.

But she didn't continue with that topic. Instead she said, "It has been set, the day after tomorrow Byron is going to my house to discuss our engagement."

Amelia's eyes suddenly widened.

"Really?"

"Of course."

"Congratulations! What does your grandfather think?"

"After finding out that Byron won the gold tableware in disguise as a woman, he stopped being against Byron. But because of Byron's special status, he never gave his approval. But now it's different. Leonard stepped down, the government isn't targeting Shadow Operations Division anymore, and they're planning to bring them under their wing. After my grandfather got this news, he agreed to meet him. I just know that when the time comes, my grandfather will definitely agree."

Amelia smiled with relief.

"I can look forward to your wedding now."

"Will you be my bridesmaid?"

"Of course. If you don't mind."

"Just don't get married before me."

Amelia didn't know how to respond to that.

Because things were going smoothly for Faith, but on her side, the situation was much more complicated.

But she believed that she and Samuel would definitely overcome the difficulties ahead.

And that day wouldn't be too far away.

After eating their fill, the girls went to chat on the side while the men stayed at the table drinking.

Just then, a server came over carrying a glass of juice.

"Ladies, this is our hotel's homemade juice. You can try it."

Amelia nodded, and the server placed a glass in front of each of them.

Amelia picked it up and was about to drink when a large hand took the glass from her.

Amelia turned her head - it was Samuel.

He reeked of alcohol, with his cheeks slightly flushed.

"What kind of juice? Let me try it."

As he spoke, he drank the entire glass of juice.

Then he leaned close to Amelia and said, "If I drink any more I might get drunk. Keep an eye on me."

Amelia understood and pretended to be annoyed.

"You drank my juice, what am I supposed to drink?"

"I'll get you another glass."

"I want coffee from the shop across from the hotel."

"Should we go buy it together?"

"Okay."

Amelia stood up, said something to Natalie, and pulled Samuel toward the exit.

Samuel's steps were a bit heavy, so Amelia deliberately held his arm, secretly using force to prevent his body from looking too unsteady.

Yosef noticed Samuel over there and called out to him, "Where are you going? Come drink!"

Amelia answered for Samuel with a smile, "I'm having him come with me across the street to buy something. We'll be back to drink in a bit."

Yosef stopped paying attention to them.

He found Byron amazing - he knew a little about everything and was very enjoyable to talk to.

Amelia took the opportunity to leave the lounge with Samuel.

Outside the lounge, Amelia let out a soft breath and asked him, "How much did you drink?"

"I don't know anymore. With several types of alcohol mixed together, my head hurts a bit."

Amelia felt a bit sorry for him.

"There should be empty rooms upstairs. Let's go to a room and I'll massage you - you'll feel better."

"Okay."

Samuel didn't refuse, because he felt his body seemed to be getting more and more uncomfortable, and he was suddenly very hot.

Maybe he had a fever.

Just then a server passed by and asked them, "Are you two going upstairs to rest in a room?"

Amelia nodded and asked, "Are there any empty rooms?"

"Yes, the guests who came to the hotel today aren't staying - they all just came to eat."

"Good, then please arrange one for us."

The server said, "I'm afraid you'll need to go to the front desk to check in first. We still have to follow procedures, otherwise we can't account for it."

Amelia didn't want to make things difficult for anyone, so she nodded and said, "Then please watch him for me while I go downstairs to check in."

"Okay."

Amelia got in the elevator.

Downstairs, the front desk gave her a room card for 602.

Amelia took the room card and headed for the elevator while calling Samuel.

But it was the server from earlier who answered.

"Then I'll take Mr. Crawford up to the sixth floor to wait for you."

"Okay."

Amelia agreed and pressed the button for the sixth floor.

But when she got to the sixth floor, she didn't see the server or Samuel.

Confused, she dialed Samuel's phone again and heard a phone ringing from room 602 across the way.

Thinking the server must have helped her bring Samuel to the room first, she opened the door with the room card.

The room was pitch black. She walked in a couple steps and was about to feel around for where to insert the card to turn on the power when she sensed someone approaching from behind.

She pretended not to notice and continued feeling along the wall for the card slot.

The next second, she suddenly turned around and kicked the approaching person flying with one swift kick.

The person let out a pained sound.

The next second, Amelia's foot was already pressing down on the person's face.

"Who are you? What do you want?"

"Spare me, spare me! I'm just doing this for money."

Amelia narrowed her eyes and recognized the voice as the server who had been helping her support Samuel earlier.

"Where's Samuel?"

"He's in 702."

"Who sent you?"

"I don't know either. It was a woman, quite pretty. She gave me a lot of money. I - I didn't mean to hurt you, I was just supposed to knock you out and lock you in here like she said."

He begged for mercy: "I really know I was wrong. I just really needed the money."

Amelia first turned on the lights in the room.

The server's face was ashen, with a clear footprint on it.

Amelia was silent for two seconds, then asked, "He's okay, right?"

"Should be fine, but he drank something."

"What did he drink?"

After he told her, Amelia's face darkened.

She remembered now - it was also this person who had brought over the juice earlier.

She asked, "That stuff was originally meant for me to drink?"

"Yes."

The next second, Amelia knocked the person out cold.

Then she called Jeremy.

"Come to 602 right away. Don't alert anyone. I've got someone locked up here. Watch him and don't let him escape. I'm going to 702."

"Yes." Jeremy didn't ask any questions and agreed immediately.
