Chapter 121 Do You Want to Marry Him?
Lloyd was breaking out in a cold sweat as he listened.
Samuel's fiancée had nearly been assaulted, and these rich kids had been beaten up too—this was no small matter!
He immediately nodded.
"Mr. Crawford, don't worry. I'll handle this personally and make sure Ms. Richardson and all of you get justice!"
"Then I'll leave it to you, Lloyd."
Samuel patted Lloyd's shoulder twice, applying meaningful pressure.
Lloyd understood—he had to "handle this properly."
So after Efrain was ruined in front of Billy, when the Young family came to Lloyd, he directly presented a pile of evidence they couldn't refute.
The other side had witnesses and physical evidence. All those who were beaten had their injuries verified at the hospital.
Not only could Billy not get justice for Efrain, he had to provide justice for those who were injured.
He had no choice but to go door-to-door, apologizing and promising many things, before they agreed not to press charges against Efrain.
Of course, Samuel hadn't wanted to make this too big a deal from the start, and had already told them to quit while they were ahead.
The reason for not escalating wasn't fear of the Young family, but concern that Amelia would become the subject of gossip.
Amelia's reputation was more important than the lives of the entire Young family.
The Young family naturally didn't know any of this. They scrambled around for several days.
They no longer dared to dream of Efrain marrying Amelia and finally understood that Samuel was serious.
He really was going to marry Amelia.
But that's all a story for later.
Since Samuel had other urgent matters to attend to, he didn't stay long and returned to the restaurant across the street with his crew.
After the commotion, Crimson Rose Bistro only had Amelia's table left.
But she acted as if nothing had happened, nodding and praising Grant for ordering well.
"These dishes are all delicious."
Grant had told the kitchen in advance to serve slowly, so when Amelia sat down to eat, the food was still hot.
Grant gave a dry laugh.
Amelia's mindset was truly unbeatable.
He didn't have such a good appetite—his heart was full of fear.
He was scared that if he hadn't spotted Samuel earlier, Amelia would have been bullied.
But then he thought again—who was his Amelia? Could those people really bully her?
His heart settled down, and he finally felt like eating.
But he couldn't help saying, "Amelia, don't you think... Samuel is pretty good?"
Amelia swallowed her food and met Grant's gossipy eyes with a question: "Why? Do you want to marry him?"
Grant choked on his own saliva, covering his mouth as he coughed.
After finally stopping the coughing fit, he glared at Amelia with mock anger.
"Amelia, don't talk nonsense. I like women."
Amelia patted the back of his hand with an understanding expression.
"Grant, don't judge me, but I read books about this stuff sometimes."
Grant nearly choked again.
Unable to out-talk Amelia, he surrendered directly.
"I give up. I won't ask anymore, okay? Stop teasing me, or people might overhear and really think I'm looking for a girlfriend."
Satisfied, Amelia continued eating.
Grant didn't dare mention Samuel again after that.
He'd originally wanted to probe and see if Amelia had any thoughts in that direction, but now he'd stopped gossiping.
Amelia's business wasn't for just anyone to gossip about.
When they got home, Lucas was nowhere to be seen.
He hadn't had any other jobs lately, so he should have been home.
Grant had planned to find Lucas. After searching everywhere without finding him, he was puzzled.
But Amelia knew exactly where he'd gone.
Max had personally approached Lucas to recruit him to Montes Summit Studios.
No, Montes Summit Studio had already changed its name to Aurevia Studio.
However, no one would connect Aurevia Studio with Amelia.
Sure enough, that evening Lucas came home with good news.
"Mom, someone wants to snatch me over to Aurevia Studio. I want to hear your thoughts."
"Aurevia Studio?"
"It used to be Montes Summit Studio."
Natalie knew about Montes Summit Studio—it was an agency with comparable strength to Aurora Media.
Being cautious, she asked, "Why would they suddenly want to snatch you?"
If they were going to poach anyone, it should be Aurora Media's famous stars, not an unknown star like Lucas.
"I'm confused too, but they're offering great terms and are willing to pay my breach of contract fees."
Natalie was about to suggest Lucas think it over more carefully—after all, this seemed odd, and she worried it might be a trap.
That's when Amelia spoke up: "Mom, I think Lucas should give it a try. I heard Aurevia Studio is planning to compete with Aurora Media, so that's probably why they're recruiting Lucas. And it won't just be Lucas—they'll definitely recruit many people. Rather than waiting until everyone else has signed and then having Lucas sign, it's better to go early and get better resources."
Natalie was somewhat surprised.
"How do you know all this?"
Amelia had her explanation ready and winked at Natalie.
"Mom, did you forget? I used to be a fangirl—I know a bit about the entertainment industry."
Natalie doted on Amelia. Since she'd spoken up, and Lucas himself was interested, she nodded.
"When their contract arrives, I'll have the company lawyer look it over. If there are no problems, sign it. It'll be hard for you to make it to Aurora Media. Going to Aurevia Studio, you might actually become famous."
"Great!"
The matter was settled.
That evening, Amelia went to Liam's room.
Grant came with her.
Liam had been about to wash up and sleep. Seeing the two of them enter, surprise flashed across his face, followed by a happy expression.
He'd undergone some subtle changes recently—unlike before when he only liked being alone, he was starting to enjoy company.
This was a good sign.
"Have a seat," he said.
After Amelia sat down, Amelia's gaze lingered on Liam's legs for two seconds before moving away.
She'd been sneaking over every night to treat Liam, and it should be having some effect, though Liam himself hadn't noticed.
He was so used to not using his legs that he wouldn't pay them special attention.
"Liam," Grant spoke first. "Amelia and I came because we have something important to discuss with you."
"Go ahead."
Grant glanced at Amelia. Seeing she didn't intend to speak, he continued: "Liam, we're hoping you'll let Amelia treat your leg injury."
The happiness on Liam's face immediately faded.
"This matter... I've said before, don't trouble yourselves. I know you mean well, but it's really not necessary," Liam refused.
