Chapter 297 : He Was Utterly Jealous
Chapter 297 : He Was Utterly Jealous
Just then, Tommy, who had remained in the livestream all this time, left one final comment.
"Hi, I'm Tommy from MedTech University. Whether you cheated or not, it would be my honor to recommend you as a student here."
After posting that message, he silently left the stream.
Tommy's comment had barely been posted before the livestream exploded again.
"Tommy's a PhD student at MedTech and one of their star protégés. If he personally recommends someone, the school is definitely going to consider it!"
"Ugh, I'm so jealous. Did she seriously turn a scandal into an opportunity?"
"But honestly, her scores have always been at MedTech's level. Nobody has actually proven she cheated."
"Wait a second, does anyone even know her name? Are there any MedTech students here who recognize her?"
The livestream ended, but the speculation never stopped.
The cheating scandal faded away in a silent, bloodless confrontation that never really reached a conclusion.
Eventually, Allison and the online crowd reached a strange stalemate. Neither side could gain the upper hand.
The public had judged her unfairly, yet Allison had never fully cleared her name.
Inside a conference room at Wellinges Pharma, Jareth stared at his laptop with a dark expression. "Who the hell does this Tommy think he is?"
The nerve of that guy. Did he really think he was some hero, showing up at the perfect moment to save Allison?
Seeing the gloomy expression on Jareth's face, Oliver rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Come on, Jareth. The public's calmed down, hasn't it? Besides, your wife's not going back to school. She's never going to run into this Tommy guy. Why are you so jealous?"
"Who's jealous?" Jareth shot him a cold glance.
If Allison hadn't specifically told him not to interfere, Tommy wouldn't have gotten the chance to meddle at all.
Oliver wisely chose not to say another word. He folded his hands in front of him and stared at the floor as if it were suddenly fascinating.
Meanwhile, the Rogers family had been watching Allison's livestream from beginning to end.
Nevertheless, even Nigel had been shocked by the way she handled those exam questions.
Just looking at the questions, he knew there was no way he could have done any better.
After the livestream ended, Nigel was the first to speak. "Technology really is something these days. Even with a livestream and cameras recording everything, someone can still find a way to cheat. The funniest part is that even Tommy got fooled by Allison's performance. I can't imagine how much he's going to regret defending her in that livestream once he sees what kind of person she really is in college."
Sherrie slowly chewed on a piece of fruit. "Tommy could've remained a legend at MedTech for the rest of his life. It's a pity Allison is going to become a stain on his reputation."
Swallowing the fruit, she added, "It proves that being too quick to help people can come back to bite you."
Nigel nodded in agreement.
Just as the two finished talking about Allison, Sherrie received a call from the director of General Hospital and answered it cheerfully.
The director swallowed hard before clearing his throat and awkwardly said, “Ms. Sherrie, after discussing it at today's hospital meeting, we've decided that you should take some time off from work.”
Sherrie was taken aback by the news and frowned deeply. “Why?”
Ronan hadn't visited the hospital in quite some time, and because of that, the director no longer treated Sherrie with the same courtesy as before.
He didn't even bother to soften his words. "You've been attracting a lot of attention lately. The hospital is concerned that someone might use your internship to create negative publicity for us. For your own sake, we're suspending your position temporarily. Once everything settles down, you can come back."
Most people didn't know how Sherrie had secured her internship at General Hospital. But the director and the hospital president did. And neither of them was willing to take that risk.
As soon as the call with the director ended, Sherrie broke down in tears again. "Nigel, I've worked so hard this past month. I was just about to receive a full-time offer, and now it's all gone because of a single sentence from Allison."
Nigel was furious as well, but there was nothing he could do about the hospital's decision. "People online are still questioning Allison. I'm worried that if she gets pushed into a corner, she'll drag you into it. For now, let's keep a low profile."
Allison had influence now. A single comment from her could easily sway public opinion. At this point, Nigel could only stay out of the spotlight and wait.
What he didn't expect was that Allison never posted anything online. Instead, she came to the Rogers mansion.
When the Rogers family saw Allison, they were all surprised.
Nigel immediately got to his feet, anger flashing across his face. "Didn't you say you block people and mute them? Didn't you say you didn't even dare face me? So what, now you've suddenly found the courage to come here?"
Ruth quickly reached out and pulled him back. "Nigel, watch your tone," she said gently. "Maybe she's here to apologize."
Allison carried a fruit basket in her hands, and she genuinely looked like someone who had come to apologize.
Nigel's expression softened slightly.
Allison gracefully walked into the living room and put the fruit basket on the table.
Sherrie sat on the sofa with red eyes. "Allison, I got suspended from the hospital."
Allison looked at her. "It's my fault for mentioning your name during the livestream. If I hadn't done that, you wouldn't have been dragged into this mess."
Nigel seemed a little calmer after hearing her explanation, but there was still a sharp edge to his tone.
"What's the point of saying that now? I think you did it on purpose. You wanted to drag Sherrie down with you."
Allison replied, "I really wanted to prove that I didn't cheat. I thought that since my sister is a graduate student, she could help me."
Ruth frowned as soon as she heard that.
Nigel suddenly rose from his seat again. "So you were cheating after all. You were trying to drag Sherrie into it. You knew about her academic background..."
Allison looked at him.
Only then did Nigel seem to realize what he had almost revealed, and he immediately stopped talking.
