Chapter 67: He Covets Her Body, and It Is Also His Obsession

Chapter 67: He Covets Her Body, and It Is Also His Obsession

The Brown Villa is located in the most expensive area of Shadow City.

A piece of land here has been specially set aside as the address of the Brown Villa.

On the map, there's a full-moon-shaped lake, which is the main feature of the Brown Villa.

The villa complex that encompasses this entire Moon Lake is the Brown Villa.

The Brown Villa is based in a pale moon-yellow color. When the lights come on at night, the entire villa complex looks like a bright moon from above, with a perfect, complete beauty.

The villas sit by the lake, peaceful and beautiful.

Amelia looked up at the Brown Villa, her eyes calm.

Normally she would just drive straight in, but this time she didn't want to, so she just stopped outside the Brown Villa and came as a visitor.

The security guard spotted her and immediately came out.

"Mrs. Amelia Brown, you're here. Mr. Finn Brown and Mrs. Cleo Brown have been waiting for you to come back," the guard said, pressing a button to immediately open the heavy gate of the Brown Villa.

Amelia nodded slightly and said, "I'll take the shuttle car in today."

"What? Okay!" The guard was surprised for a moment, but didn't ask questions and made the arrangements.

In just a moment, someone drove up in a shuttle car to pick her up.

"Mrs. Brown." It was Ezra, the general manager of the Brown Villa. He got out of the car and opened the shuttle car door for Amelia. "Welcome home."

Amelia nodded and got into the car.

As the car started, Amelia officially entered Moon Manor.

"Mrs. Amelia Brown, Mrs. Cleo Brown has been talking about you a lot lately."

Ezra said while driving, "Mrs. Cleo Brown keeps saying that since you haven't been back recently, the house feels empty and she's not used to it."

"And Mr. Finn Brown, Mr. Finn Brown has been very angry lately, keeps saying he wants to break Mr. William Brown's legs."

"Mr. Finn Brown also said that Isabella is just a low-class person who shouldn't be allowed to bully you, Mrs. Amelia Brown. He wants to stand up for you when you come back."

Ezra kept chattering on.

Amelia listened half-heartedly.

She suspected Finn and Cleo had told Ezra to say these things.

The night wind was a bit strong. Amelia pulled her coat tighter.

The shuttle car was driving along the edge of Moon Lake toward the interior. From here, you could see the entire lake. The wind gently blew across the lake, and the water rippled with broken moonlight, stunningly beautiful.

In the middle of the lake, there was a bridge leading directly to the villa. At this moment, a Bentley was driving from that direction toward the villa.

It was William's car.

He was here too.

The breeze brushed through her hair. Amelia thought for a moment, then took out a hair tie and put up her previously cut hair.

After pausing for another moment, she asked, "Has anything happened at home recently?"

The butler thought for a moment, then said, "Mr. Finn Brown hasn't been feeling well lately, and Mrs. Cleo Brown's spirits haven't been great either."

"Mr. Brown has come a few times, but almost every time it ends badly."

"Some other people have come to visit the two elders, but other than that, nothing much has happened."

Amelia nodded.

So things were relatively calm.

But...

Amelia looked at the spot ahead, where the Bentley was parked with a man standing beside it.

William.

Tonight was bound to be anything but calm.

The shuttle car soon stopped at the designated spot. Amelia got out with her bag.

Just as she steadied herself, a figure had already appeared beside her.

Without looking up, Amelia knew it was William.

"Mr. Brown," Ezra called out.

William waved his hand, telling Ezra to leave first.

Amelia didn't speak, and neither did William. The two just stood there quietly. In the moonlight, this once most intimate couple now seemed to have an ocean between them.

William looked at Amelia in front of him.

Her hair was up, not hanging obediently at her sides like before. She had changed her perfume—it wasn't the scent he was familiar with. She wasn't wearing her usual shoes either, but thin-heeled pumps.

William frowned slightly. It was already late April, but she was still wearing a thin coat.

After not seeing her for so long, she had changed a lot.

"Are you cold?" After a long while, William suddenly spoke, reaching out to hold her arm.

But she stepped back, and he only lightly grasped her arm before it slipped away.

This made him frown even more.

Why did her clothes feel so empty inside?

Had she lost weight?

Looking more carefully, yes she had. Her face was already small, and now that she'd lost weight, it made her look even more heartbreaking.

Amelia pressed her lips together. She didn't respond to William's question, but took control instead: "What do you want?"

Only then did William remember why he was waiting here.

Thinking of it, he took a step forward.

"What's the deal with that kid?" William asked. "The news I got from the reporters is that she called you mom. When did you have a child?"

As he spoke, his gaze unconsciously swept down to her lower abdomen.

"That's none of your business," Amelia didn't answer directly.

But William got angry.

"Amelia," he called her name, his voice cold. "We haven't gotten our divorce certificate yet, and now you're telling me you have a child and it has nothing to do with me?"

Amelia turned her head to the side, ignoring his gaze.

"Where did the child come from?" William pressed further. "All these years, we've done it so many times, but never had a child. Now..."

"Enough," Amelia cut him off.

William wanted to say more, but then he saw the moisture in her eyes.

She said, "Why we never had a child before—don't you know?"

William froze.

His lips pressed tightly together.

He remembered. Many years ago, they had once had a child.

They were both still young then. He couldn't get enough of her body, coaxing her into making love night after night.

He didn't know the signs of pregnancy. Because her health was usually poor and her period was often irregular, she didn't think of it either.

When they went to Novaria for negotiations, the other party drew him away and started a gambling game—gambling on courage, gambling on life. She jumped into the icy water without hesitation, completely soaked. The child was lost just like that.

When he pulled her out of the icy water, there was a large patch of blood beneath her. They had been quick enough, but the child was still gone.

At that time, she was in his arms, but her eyes were fixed on the other party.

"You promised me," she said.

The other party nodded.

He still remembered it was a late autumn night. The child was gone. She blamed herself terribly, crying heartbrokenly in his arms. His heart broke too.

After that time, her body was severely damaged. In the following years, they were moved by passion and indulged every night, but it was still very difficult for her to conceive.

All these years, he had always hoped to have a child with her. He worked hard in their intimate moments—out of desire for her body, to make up for that past regret, and because it was an obsession in his heart.

But William would never know.

Actually, after they got married, they had had a child.

But later, it was gone too.
