Chapter 1106: She Will Resist Even More

The previous night, Sophia stayed up late waiting for Victor to come home.

During this time, she didn't go to school, so she would sleep in every morning.

But early in the morning, she was awakened by a continuous knocking on the door.

Groggily, Sophia got up and opened the door, still feeling a bit grumpy.

When she saw the person at the door, her eyebrows furrowed, and her face filled with resistance.

"Sophia, you're finally awake. Aunt Emma will help you freshen up and then we'll go to school, okay?"

Emma smiled at the little girl.

Sophia pursed her lips and shook her head.

She didn't want this mean woman to take her to school.

The last time when this mean woman took her to school, she spanked her!

Emma was patient. "I was wrong last time, and I was too impulsive. Aunt Emma promises that she will treat you well from now on and won't force you to do things you don't like, okay?"

As she spoke, she tried to walk past the little girl and into the bedroom.

Just as she lifted her foot, Sophia took a step forward, blocking her way.

Emma's smile faltered slightly.

"Sweetheart, if we don't get ready soon, we'll be late. Your grandma told me that you only went to the new school for one day and haven't been back since. Now you're starting school again, so you need to leave a good impression on the teachers and classmates."

At this, Sophia's unwillingness became even more apparent on her face.

She didn't want Emma to take her to school, and she definitely didn't want to go to the new preschool!

"Don't you want to make friends at the new school, Sophia?" Emma gently coaxed.

As soon as the words fell, Sophia shook her head without hesitation, her face full of stubbornness.

"No!"

Emma's eyes brightened.

This was the first time Sophia had spoken when they were alone together.

Before this, every time she faced Emma, whenever she was around Emma, the little girl would always remain silent, only knowing how to hide away.

Now that she was willing to speak, did it mean that their relationship had taken a step closer?

Thinking of this possibility, Emma felt pleasantly surprised and spoke even more gently.

"Aunt Emma knows that you don't like crowded places or new environments, but these are things you will have to face sooner or later. If you're scared, Aunt Emma will be there with you."

Sophia looked at the person in front of her and couldn't help but feel something was off.

This mean woman seemed like a different person now.

And didn't she know herself? If she really let this mean woman keep her company, she would only resist even more!

Emma reached out to touch Sophia's head and wanted to say something else.

But Sophia immediately stepped back and avoided her outstretched hand.

Emma's hand froze in mid-air once again.

Sophia stared at her with wide eyes.

In the past, if she had avoided Emma's touch, this mean woman's expression would have turned unpleasant.

But this time, it seemed like it didn't affect her at all.

The more she looked, the stranger it seemed.

Although Emma's attitude had improved compared to before, Sophia felt that she was just putting on an act.

Of course, Emma was annoyed.

But she suppressed her anger.

Compared to Sophia's resistance towards her, Victor's approval mattered more to her.

Seeing that time was running out, Emma had no choice but to change tactics to persuade the little girl.

"Aunt Emma also thinks it's better for you to study at home. But this is your father's decision. He drank too much last night, and now he has a headache. I don't think Sophia wants him to worry about your schooling, right?"
