Chapter 2
Three days after the wedding, I finally saw Blake again.
At the preschool drop-off.
He was taking his newly acknowledged daughter to school.
The principal personally came out to greet Blake, the new parent.
“Mr. Harrison, Mrs. Harrison, you can rest assured your daughter will be well taken care of here.”
The woman they called Mrs. Harrison-Celeste Winters-glanced shyly at Blake.
Her cheeks flushed pink.
stood beside her, Blake paused slightly but didn’t correct them.
Standing in the distance, I found it almost ridiculous.
We weren’t even officially over.
And he was already playing house with someone else.
My grip loosened.
he little boy I was holding suddenly charged at Blake.
le shoved the man hard, then glared at the woman.
Don’t you adults have any shame?
‘ou were just marrying my aunt a few days ago, and now she’s Mrs. Harrison?”
eachers and parents everywhere.
Blake wouldn’t let his daughter face that kind of scandal.
He pulled the woman behind him protectively.
‘hen his cold gaze found mine.
Aria, control your family. Don’t let him spread lies about my wife.”
ust one sentence.
uccessfully turned everyone’s attention to me.
He was certain I wouldn’t humiliate him in public.
Certain I still had feelings for him.
Honestly,
I’d imagined countless times what he’d say when he saw me.
But I never thought it would be like this.
Not a trace of guilt.
After Blake said that, he turned his back on me, walking away quickly.
Letting the principal escort their little family to handle enrollment.
When they came out, I was still there.
Celeste walked with her daughter, head down, avoiding my eyes.
After all, three years ago, she was my intern assistant.
She only met Blake through me.
Then I heard her daughter ask:
“Mommy, why does her keep bothering Daddy? She’s so annoying!”
She’s definitely Blake’s daughter-just as unlikable as her father.
Blake stood with his hands in his pockets, still looking unbothered.
“She’s just a kid. Let it go.”
I tilted my head back and laughed softly.
“What if I don’t want to let it go?”
Blake stared at me. Finally, he shook his head like he was resigned.
“I really don’t know what to do with you.”
Then Celeste, who seemed terrified of me, was trembling.
She pushed her daughter toward me.
‘Apologize to Miss Reed right now. If you upset her, Daddy won’t want you anymore.”
The little girl refused, wrapping herself around Blake’s leg and crying.
So loud it gave me a headache.
In that moment, I suddenly didn’t want his answer anymore.
