Chapter 1
The night I discovered Blake had feelings for another girl, I thought it through calmly.
And finally I had my conclusion.
I wasn’t ready to let him go yet.
So at my demand, Blake sent her away.
Our relationship seemed to go back to how it used to be.
But I knew we weren’t.
Because over the next three years, Blake spent less and less time with me.
He’d rather hole up in his office, buried in paperwork.
Than come home to me.
The food I reheated over and over again, the lights I left on night after night.
Everything screaming the same message.
He wasn’t coming back.
One night, Blake froze when he got back home late.
He didn’t expect to see me in the living room.
Jsually by this time, I’d already be asleep.
got up from the couch and took his coat.
Then I awkwardly loosened his tie.
Ever since that girl left, he barely let me touch him anymore.
Go shower first. We need to talk.”
hese past few years, Blake had become a man of few words.
it that moment, his tired eyes turned toward me.
mpatient. Demanding.
let out a bitter laugh before saying:
Blake, let’s get married.”
f it wasn’t for that girl, we would’ve been married three years ago.
At my words, the man in front of me held his breath, and my heart also jumped to my throat.
Terrified he’d say no.
But Blake just stayed quiet for a moment, then said okay.
After that, he turned around and went upstairs.
We spent a month planning the wedding.
Blake only showed up twice.
Once for engagement photos-took one shot and left.
The other time was when we went to get our marriage license,
At city hall, before I got out of the car.
I looked at this man who hadn’t said a word to me the entire drive.
Whether it was frustration or exhaustion, I couldn’t tell.
All I knew was I said:
“Blake, let’s have the wedding first, then get the license.”
Blake gave me another okay.
Now, at the wedding.
Watching the man walk away without hesitation, abandoning me.
[ felt almost relieved.
That day, I’d left myself an escape route.
