Chapter 38 Smeared with his breath
Chapter 38 Smeared with his breath
Nyx's p.o.v
I woke up feeling pains on my body, my legs and my back. It always baffles me how I was not fit but my physique definitely looks like one of those gym rats. I only ran few steps from those men yesterday and I'm feeling the brunt today. And my back ache from sitting up for a good part of the night and doing the assignment Matthew gave me.
Slowly, I got dressed, wrapped the little painted canvas in my hand and walked out of my room. With one prayer on my lips:
Travis doesn't come to the art exhibition.
How could I explain when he sees the painting. God. I went to far by drawing it out in the first place.
I heard the clanks of plates and pot in the kitchen, surprisingly, the dining table is empty which seems odd. Because mom is an early cook.
I walked past the dining and towards the kitchen. I was almost startled at who was whisking a batter. “Bianca,”
She turned to me, a cold smile on her lips. “And if it's not my niece in law.”
“Niece in law?” I frowned, wondering what she's playing at.
“Yeah, Travis and I would soon be married and he's your uncle right.” She sneered, while keeping in place that icy smile. I didn't miss her emphasis on the uncle.
Like she was trying to remind me of something.
I recalled what I found out yesterday, she knows and for some reasons she's not talking, spreading the news and I have half a mind her goal is to subdue me.
Never happening.
“Well, then you better add a step. He's my step uncle.”
“Doesn't change a thing, family is family.”
Uhhh. I mentally palmed my face.
“Where's my mom?” I asked, looking around like I would discover her in the covered pots. “And why are you the one making breakfast.”
She scoffed angrily, as she poured the batter into an oiled pan. “I gave her a day off. But she wasn't pleased, so she left early.”
Typical.
Mom hates to share her kitchen, even with me.
I shrugged trying to leave but she stopped me.
“Take this, whisk it up,” she handed me the already whisked batter. I laid the canvas on the counter and collected it before she dropped it.
“I have to go to work.”
“It won't hurt to help your aunt in the kitchen.” She spites and winked at me, she was enjoying whatever this is.
I gnashed my teeth. It was like she was trying to shove that fact down my throat.
“Travis isn't even married,”
“Yet,” she added. “And he will soon. To me of course.” She let out a shriek.
“Hopefully not.” I mumbled under my breath.
“What did you say?” She frowned. She heard me, I could swear it.
“I said, you sure don't have a ring around your finger.” This boldness of mine is definitely powered by jealousy.
That did it, she paused, her nostril flared and she fisted her hand.
“I forgot it back at home.”
“It mustn't have been special.”
She flipped the already burnt pancake and turned to me, chin lifting in triumph.
“Oh, but it is special,” she said sweetly. “You see, my fiancé loves me so much.”
I snorted before I could stop myself. “That’s not what he said to me.”
The words slipped out quiet, careless, deadly.
She froze.
The spatula hung mid-air as she slowly turned, eyes narrowing, voice dropping.
“What did you just say to me?”
I swallowed, but it was too late.
“You stupid little left-handed…” she stopped herself abruptly, breath hitching as if she remembered where she was. In a blink, the fury vanished, replaced with a tight-lipped smile so sharp it could cut skin. “...beauty.”
Two can play the fake game.
I smiled back, just as polished.
She leaned closer, lowering her voice as if we were sharing secrets. “You see, my fiancé your uncle is the sweetest man. He dotes on me. Absolutely spoils me.” Her hand drifted to her stomach. “And when we have a child, I know our boy will look just like him.”
The jealousy came fast and hot, crawling up my spine.
“His eyes,” she continued, almost dreamily, “aren’t even the most captivating part of him. There’s something else.” She laughed softly, obscenely amused with herself. “I’m sure you can imagine.”
I clenched my jaw.
Of course she had seen him like that. What did I expect? The thought burned anyway, sharp and unwanted.
She didn’t stop. She couldn’t. It was like she was determined to peel me apart layer by layer.
“Do you know he has a blood kink,” she said, tilting her head, watching my face too closely, “he cuts me up sometimes and sucks it off while claiming me.” Her smile widened when my ears perked despite myself. “Oh?” she laughed, that irritating, grating sound. “Did that interest you?”
My nails dug into my palm. Jealousy churned, ugly and violent in my chest, but I refused to give her the satisfaction.
She stepped back, pleased with the damage she’d done, humming as she turned back to the pan victorious, smug, cruel.
But I wasn't feeling just jealous, the information sparked a reminder in my head. “Do you mean he licks your blood?”
She nodded hastily. “The first time we tried anal, he sucks off the blood that dropped out of me.”
Hurt splashed through my chest.
The memory of him sucking his finger coated with my virginity blood flashed through my mind. I dropped the bowl of batter, picked up the canvas.
“I have to go.” Without waiting for her response, I walked off.
My chest was heaving, I was sweating, does he do that to everybody he sleeps with? How many girls have he claimed.More frustratingly is how is it my fucking business. It's done with me and him.
The day's cold sipped through my skin as I stepped out. The fresh air brought chills to my body, so did this information.
I was still lost in thought when a horn honked. I turned to the direction. Travis was behind the wheels. He honked again as I just stared.
“Come in,” he yelled.
“I'm good.” I said, pushing out of my thoughts, I started walking past him.
“Nyx,” he warned.
I didn't respond. He drove forward matching my walk. “I promise you, if you don't get in now, I will come out there, hurl you over my shoulder and you sure know my hand would rest on that plump ass of yours.”
My breath caught but I kept walking and he kept rolling the car. “And guess what, I will knead it so hard, you will moan for me. Now imagine moaning for me when the neighbors can see,”
I stopped walking, Travis doesn't give an empty threat. I got fucked ones by disobeying them.
It's enough Bianca knows my secr
et. I wouldn't want the neighbors to suspect anything. They would tell mom immediately.
I reached for the car handle and got in.
