Chapter 64

Luke’s POV

Everyone was off to who knows where while I sat across from Sasha in my living room.

“You can’t expect me to stay in the same house as that woman!” She cried out.

“I can and I do. Eliza is important to us and besides, we just found out she’s also pregnant. I think you can understand how important it is to have someone there to support you.” I told her as patiently as I could.

“Lukey, how is that my problem?” She sneered. So much for me thinking she can be reasonable.

“What is it that you want?” I asked her.

“I want you and Tanner of course.” Sasha sang. I internally rolled my eyes, she’s always on this whole thing about me and Tanner.

“What about Frederick? Why aren’t you going to him about all this? I’m sure he doesn’t want his future heir to be hunted down.” I told her.

“Frederick is overjoyed of course, but his family isn’t. His brother Marcus thinks I’m lying about the child being his and proposed I be executed for blasphemy.” She muttered.

“That’s easily proven by a paternity test.” I pointed out. Something isn’t matching up here.

“Anyway pet, what are we going to do about that woman? You seriously expect me to play nice?” She asked.

“If you are to stay here, yes.” I said.

She rolled her eyes and hiked up her skirt a little. “I’ll be out for the evening, don’t wait up. Sasha stood, her skirt swayed a little while she puffed up her chest and headed towards the door. “Congratulations, Luke.” She said before she left.

I fell back in my chair with a sigh. I rubbed my face and wondered what she was up to. There has to be more to the story she’s not telling me. I thought it would be best if I spoke with her while Tanner wasn’t here because he always succumbed to her tricks.

Eventually I stood and went to my room. Our room. The smell of Eliza still lingered in the air, and I missed her dearly. I still can’t believe I’m going to be a father.

*ring, ring, ring*

My phone rang into the quiet night.

“Hello?” I answered.

“She disappeared! She got up to use the restroom and never came back!” I hear a distressed voice on the other end.

“Jason? Who’s gone?” There was a pit in my stomach. Please don’t be Eliza.

“Elizabeth is gone! We went on a date to the opera the next town over and she disappeared. Her scent ends at the women’s restroom, it’s like she vanished into thin air.” He cried out.

“Where are you now?” I asked him as calmly as I could.

“Still at the opera house in case she’s still here.”

“Text me the address, I’ll be right there.” I told him before I hung up.

*ding*

A minute later I received a text with the address of the place. I changed out of my suit and tie and into sweats before I took off running. I ran faster than I ever had before to try and get there as soon as possible. I ran alongside a brown wolf that I could scent as Trey. He nodded at me and we both ran like the wind.

When we arrived, Jason was pacing outside the building while pulling at his hair.

“I don’t know guys; everything was going great! She wouldn’t take off, and her scent shouldn’t disappear like that. I’m super worried. Our woman is missing! This is all my fault, I should’ve escorted her, I just didn’t think this would happen.” Jason said.

“Bro, you couldn’t have seen this coming, we need to calm down and figure out what could’ve happened. Showed me where her scent stops.” Trey said trying to calm down Jason.

He led us to the entrance to the women’s restroom. We must’ve been a sight to see, three gruff men pacing in front of the restroom sniffing the air.

“Did you get ahold of Tanner yet?” I asked Jason.

“No, his phone is off, he must be working still. I sent him a text message and I’m sure he’ll see it when he turns his phone back on.”

“We need a witch,” Trey said.

I nodded in agreement. A witch would be able to figure out why the scent either disappeared or was masked.

“I’ll call Amy,” Trey declared. He walked off while typing something on his phone.

“Who’s Amy?” Jason asked me.

“I don’t know, I’m assuming she’s a witch that Trey knows.” I answered. Where the heck is Tanner? He owns a security company, I bet he could hack into traffic cams and see if she was taken somewhere. Suddenly a thought popped into my head, Sasha! She better not have been the one to have done this.

I called her but her phone went straight to voicemail. After calling a few more times with the same result, I realized it couldn’t have been her, she just barely left the house when I received the call from Jason.

Eliza, where the hell are you?

Unknown POV

I looked over at the woman, she looked a little different than the picture but I’m positive this is her. She’s pregnant, long red hair and a delicious body. I licked my lips before I shook my head. I’m on a job, I can’t be thinking like this. She stirred a little before she fell back asleep. My sleeping powder is doing the job effectively. She should be out for hours longer before she wakes. I go to lift her up and carry her to the car. I muttered a spell removing her scent from the rest stop before I open the door to my car and place her in the back seat. I checked her bindings to make sure she wouldn’t be able to untie them before I chanted another spell to make them unbreakable.

What did this woman do? I was paid a hefty sum to capture her, more than I normally get paid for jobs like this. However, it’s not my job to ask the client questions. She had a small bump, probably from pregnancy.

After I get in the driver’s seat, I type in my phone the directions I was a given and begin my drive. $100,000, here I come.

The journey would be several days long but then I could finally pay for mother’s medical bills. This woman was too easy to capture, especially for a vampire. She also has blood of something else, something I hadn’t come across before. I’ll have to question her when she wakes up.

Well Miss Sasha, time to get going to your next destination.
