Chapter 159

Chapter 159

Amelia had been running herself ragged lately.

She was juggling a million things at work, and then there was the whole Barry situation. She felt like a tightly wound spring, never getting a moment's rest.

Raymond had people watching Zoey, so she had completely forgotten about her plans with Zoey.

She lay next to Noah, gently patting his shoulder.

Amelia had planned to leave once Noah fell asleep, but she was so exhausted that she ended up falling asleep beside him.

Little did she know, Raymond came into Noah's room after she had fallen asleep.

He stood by the bed, looking at Noah and Amelia for a while before bending down to pick her up.

Amelia felt like a warm heater had been placed next to her, making her feel inexplicably safe and comfortable.

She had been sleeping fitfully, but once she was snuggled up to that warm heater, she fell into a deep sleep.

Raymond had only intended to carry Amelia back to her room so she could sleep well.

Seeing how tightly she clung to him, Raymond decided not to struggle and lay down with her in his arms.

The next morning, Amelia woke up to the warm sunlight streaming in.

She vaguely remembered falling asleep in Noah's room and was about to greet him.

But when she opened her eyes, she saw a room with a high-end, minimalist design. This was definitely not Noah's room; it was Raymond's style.

Looking closer, she saw Raymond was still there, and she was wrapped around him like an octopus, her hands resting on his firm abs.

Raymond was already awake, watching her intently. Seeing the shock on her face, a barely noticeable hint of amusement flickered in his deep eyes.

As Amelia looked up at him, Raymond smirked and teased, "Need help taking off your clothes? It might make things easier for you."

He actually started unbuttoning his shirt.

Amelia shot up from the bed as if electrocuted.

Her brain hadn't caught up, but her body reacted, accusingly saying, "Who let you into my room? Why are you in my bed?"

Her voice was higher than usual, filled with surprise and embarrassment.

Raymond sat up slowly, looking helpless as he spread his hands and explained, "You're mistaken. This is my room, my bed."

Amelia finally realized her mistake and quickly corrected herself, "I was sleeping in Noah's room. Why did you bring me here?"

Her eyes held a hint of accusation, as if blaming Raymond for being unnecessary.

Raymond scoffed, raising an eyebrow with a mocking look in his eyes, "With your wild sleeping habits, do you think Noah could sleep peacefully next to you?"

Amelia's mind flashed to her earlier position, clinging to Raymond like a koala. Her face heated up with embarrassment.

But Amelia was always stubborn. Even though she felt a bit guilty, she retorted, "That's only because I was next to you. I wouldn't be like that with Noah."

Without waiting for Raymond's response, she opened the door to escape the awkward situation.

Raymond reminded her, "Are you sure you want to leave like that? Don't you want to shower and change clothes?"

Amelia looked down at her wrinkled clothes, realizing she hadn't changed before bed. She couldn't go to work looking like this.

Since she had already slept here, a few more minutes wouldn't matter.

She shot Raymond a glare that seemed to say, 'You win this time,' then grabbed her clothes and stormed into the bathroom.

When Amelia came downstairs, Raymond and Noah were already at the table, eating breakfast.

Noah was dressed in an adorable little suit, his hair neatly combed. When he saw Amelia, his eyes lit up, and he sweetly called out, "Mommy, do you want to have breakfast with us? The nanny made your favorite ravioli."

Noah's voice was full of hope.

Amelia had planned to head straight to work, where a mountain of problems awaited her.

But seeing Noah's hopeful eyes, like a little animal craving attention, she couldn't bring herself to say no. She sighed and sat down, saying softly, "Alright, I'll have breakfast with you."

As she spoke, she couldn't help but glare at Raymond, blaming him for putting her in this situation.

Raymond calmly sipped his coffee, as if nothing had happened. He looked up and asked, "Do you want me to drive you to work?"

His tone was casual, as if it were just a passing thought.

Amelia coldly refused, "No need."

Then she turned to Noah, her expression softening. She said gently, "Noah, be good and eat your breakfast. When I have a day off, I'll take you out to play, okay?"

Noah nodded obediently, his eyes sparkling with excitement.

Raymond wasn't offended by Amelia's coldness. He remained calm and said, "I got word from the people I sent to Dean. Eugene has been dealt with."

"What? Dealt with?"

Amelia was shocked, nearly dropping her utensils.

"Didn't Dean say he needed Eugene to do something for him?"

Her eyes were filled with confusion, not understanding why Dean would do that.

Raymond reminded her, "That was just an excuse. What could Eugene possibly do?"

Raymond's tone was full of disdain for Eugene.

Amelia followed up, "So what now? Are we just going to let my father's situation go?"

Her voice rose with urgency and frustration.

Raymond replied, "Of course not. I've got people on it. Just wait for my update."

As he spoke, he noticed a bit of soup on Amelia's face and naturally wiped it off with a napkin.

"Take your time eating. Don't rush. I'll drive you later."

The intimate gesture made Amelia blush.

Not wanting to engage further with Raymond, Amelia turned away and coldly responded, "No need. I'll go by myself."

She quickly finished her food, as if afraid something bad would happen if she stayed any longer, and got up to leave.

Just then, Raymond's phone rang. Whatever was said made him frown.

"Alright, I got it. I'll be there soon."

Amelia thought she heard Zoey's name.

After hanging up, seeing Amelia and Noah's confused looks, Raymond explained, "You promised to visit Zoey yesterday, but didn't go. She's upset now."

Amelia remembered and checked her phone, which was dead.
