Chapter 15
Why are you questioning my intentions with Alpha Damien?" I asked, trying to remain composed.
"Because I sense that you may not be taking him seriously. If that's the case, I'd rather you leave him to me. I don't want to see him hurt because of your games," she replied sternly.
I felt a pang of guilt at her words, wondering if she was right. But I couldn't let her see my vulnerability.
"Why do you think I'm playing with him? And who are you to judge me?" I retorted defensively.
"You're just a girl who wants to use her looks to manipulate him. I'm sorry, but I won't let that happen," she added with a hint of superiority.
I could see the anger in her eyes, and before she could react, I stood my ground.
"Try me. Let's see if you can handle an Alpha's wrath," I challenged with a smirk.
She backed off, and just then, Alpha Damien arrived. I reached out to him, feeling a sense of pride as he treated me with respect and admiration.
"What's happening here?" Alpha Damien inquired.
"Why don't you ask her, Alpha?" I replied, gesturing towards the other woman.
"Jemma, do you have something to say?" he asked, intrigued.
"No, Alpha. I was just discussing when Amelia will accept you as her mate. I look forward to witnessing your mating ceremony," Jemma lied smoothly.
"It will happen in due time, Jemma. For now, I'll wait for her to be ready," Alpha Damien responded with a smile.
Jemma left, clearly displeased with the outcome of our interaction.
"Do you think I can trust Jemma?" I asked him, my voice filled with uncertainty.
He paused for a moment, contemplating his response. "I believe that trust is earned, not given freely. It's important to be cautious and not let our emotions cloud our judgment," he replied, his tone reassuring.
I nodded, understanding his point. "You're right. I shouldn't jump to conclusions without solid evidence. I'll keep an eye on her, but I won't let it consume me. My mission is still my priority," I affirmed, determination in my voice.
He smiled, placing a hand on my shoulder. "I have faith in you. Focus on what's important and don't let anything distract you from your goal," he encouraged.
I felt a surge of gratitude towards him. "Thank you, Alpha Damien. Your support means a lot to me," I expressed sincerely.
He nodded, his smile widening. "You're welcome. We're a team, and I'll always be here to support you," he assured me.
With renewed determination, I walked away, ready to face any challenges that came my way. I knew that with Alpha Damien by my side, I could overcome anything.
I quickly realized that it was a mistake to bring up the topic. My words slipped out unintentionally. I scrambled to find an excuse to change the subject.
"Nothing. I just thought maybe you weren't aware that there are enemies among us. There are impostors posing as guards, just like last week," I explained.
"Well, I'm not worried about that. I have a keen sense for detecting rogues. They can't deceive me easily," he assured me confidently.
"Good to know. I was just concerned," I responded.
He smiled, took my hand, and kissed it, filling me with warmth. Our eyes locked, and I seized the moment to kiss him.
As our lips met, he kissed me back gently. However, he abruptly pulled away and apologized, leaving me feeling disgusted.
"Sorry, Amelia. That wasn't my intention," he apologized.
I was irritated, so I pulled him closer and kissed him without a word, fueled by the wine I had consumed. I kissed him passionately, but he eventually stopped me and held my hands, kissing them.
"This isn't right. Why don't you agree to be my Luna first so we can proceed freely?" he suggested softly.
Unable to control myself, I slapped him suddenly. He was taken aback by my actions, and I slapped him again. It wasn't because he rejected me; it was because his actions contradicted what I wanted to see and feel.
I walked away, but he quickly caught up to me and spoke.
"What do you want? Isn't this what you wanted?" I demanded firmly.
"Don't pretend you don't want this. I'm offering myself to you. Don't you want more?" I asked, annoyed.
"I don't want you to think I don't respect you, Amelia. Until you accept me as your mate, I won't allow myself to act on this," he replied seriously.
Gradually, he manages to convince me that he is not what I initially thought. It's hard to deny that I find myself being swayed by his actions. I shouldn't let myself be fooled or give in to his words.
I have had my fair share of experiences with men, and unfortunately, I have been a victim of violence. It was a nightmare that lasted for two years.
"You know, I just don't get you. You want us to do this, but you refuse to be my partner? What exactly do you want, Amelia?" he asked, his brows furrowing.
His words made me nervous, but I fought against it, not wanting him to see my vulnerability. I mustered the courage to respond and challenge his statement.
"Tell me, how can I trust that you'll satisfy me in bed? I don't want to end up disappointed," I retorted sarcastically.
"Is that what you really think? I can't believe it," he questioned, his frown deepening.
"Come on!" I smirked, refusing to back down.
He let out a sigh at my words and slowly leaned in closer to me. In that moment, my heart raced, but our interaction was interrupted by a sound in the distance...
We stared intensely at each other, and in an instant, he identified the source of that grunt. Hastily, he grabbed my hand and we dashed out of the Tower. He commanded me to remain within the castle walls.
"It's Norman!" he exclaimed, recognizing the origin of the sound.
"Stay put, Amelia. Do not venture outside the castle!" he ordered firmly.
"No. I will accompany you, whether you like it or not, Alpha," I insisted.
He simply shook his head and instructed the guards to ensure I stayed inside. I felt frustrated with him, but there was no way I could catch up as he sprinted towards Norman's location.
