Chapter 138 Figure Skating Together
"Really?" Isabella's eyes lit up like stars. "That's awesome! Thanks a bunch!"
Half an hour later, Isabella and Alexander showed up at the ice rink. Isabella laced up her skates and glided onto the ice, moving like a butterfly in the breeze.
As the music kicked in, she spun and jumped, every move smooth and elegant, like she was one with the ice.
Alexander stood at the edge, watching Isabella glide across the rink, his eyes soft with affection.
When the music stopped, Isabella skated over to Alexander, her smile bright as a flower. "Alexander, come skate with me!"
Alexander scratched his nose, looking a bit awkward. "But I don't know how to skate."
"No worries, I can teach you!" Isabella said excitedly, grabbing his hand. "It's super easy, you'll pick it up in no time!"
Seeing the excitement in her eyes, Alexander couldn't say no. He put on his skates and carefully stepped onto the ice, wobbling a bit.
Isabella giggled, "Alexander, you can't do it like that. You need to relax and lower your center of gravity..."
She held his hand and patiently guided him.
With Isabella's help, he slowly found his balance and started to glide.
"See, I told you you're a quick learner!" Isabella said proudly. "You're getting the hang of it so fast!"
Looking at Isabella's glowing smile, Alexander felt a warmth in his heart. He held her hand tightly, feeling the warmth of her palm, like he was holding the whole world.
On the ice, they held hands, savoring this rare moment of peace.
Suddenly, a middle-aged man in sportswear, lean and fit, skated up to them and said apologetically, "Sorry to interrupt. I'm the coach of the state figure skating team, Tyrell Baldwin. Our rink is under renovation, and I heard there's an ice rink here. Could we rent this place for our team to train?"
Isabella paused, then smiled sweetly. "Of course, Tyrell."
Tyrell looked at Isabella closely, surprise in his eyes. "You're Isabella, right? I've seen your competition videos. You have amazing talent!"
Isabella blushed and looked down shyly. "I haven't trained seriously in a long time."
She instinctively touched her knee, the old pain still lingering.
Alexander noticed her unease and gently squeezed her hand, giving silent support. He looked at Tyrell, his tone steady and polite. "Tyrell, Isabella was injured before, so..."
Tyrell quickly waved his hand. "I know, I know. I saw Isabella's performance just now. She seems to have recovered well. We're short on talent, and if you're willing to join, I believe you can get back to your peak!"
Hearing his words, a wave of emotion washed over Isabella. Joining the state figure skating team had been her dream. But her past injury made her doubt herself, fearing she could never return to her former level.
Tyrell saw her hesitation and encouraged her, "Isabella, I know you have concerns, but don't be afraid of failure. You're still young, anything is possible! Take a few days to think about it, and if you decide to join, contact me anytime."
With that, he handed Isabella a business card.
Isabella stared at the card in her hand, feeling all sorts of conflicted. She turned to Alexander, her eyes full of confusion. "Alexander, do you think I can get back to where I was?"
Alexander gently pulled her into his arms and whispered in her ear, "Of course you can, you're amazing! No matter what you decide, I've got your back."
He kissed her forehead, his eyes brimming with affection and encouragement.
Isabella kept looking at Tyrell's business card, her face full of hesitation. Seeing her adorable expression, Alexander couldn't help but smile as he ruffled her soft hair. "What's on your mind? You look so deep in thought."
Isabella looked up, her eyes full of doubt. "Alexander, can I really do it? I'm scared I won't be able to skate well."
Alexander pulled her closer, his tone gentle but firm. "Of course you can! To me, you're always the best."
Isabella's face turned bright red, like a ripe apple, and she pouted. "Alexander, if you keep saying that, I'll get all big-headed!"
Alexander looked at her cute, bashful face, his heart melting. He leaned down and gave her a light kiss on the lips. "So what if you do? You're my girl, you have every right to be. Do whatever you want, I'll always support you."
In the following days, Isabella couldn't get Tyrell's offer out of her mind. She often stared at his business card, lost in thought.
When Jasmine invited Isabella out, she noticed her friend's unusual behavior and curiously leaned over. "Isabella, what are you holding? You seem so absorbed."
Isabella was startled and quickly hid the business card behind her back, stammering, "It's nothing."
Jasmine didn't buy it and snatched the card, reading the info on it. She got it immediately. "So it's the coach of the state figure skating team! Isabella, do you want to join the team?"
Isabella's face turned red again, and she nodded slightly.
Jasmine hugged her excitedly. "That's awesome! Isabella, you have to join! You're so good at skating, it's like you were born for it!"
After learning that Isabella had rented the ice rink to the state figure skating team, Jasmine became a regular there, dragging Isabella to watch the team train every day.
Watching the agile athletes on the ice, Isabella's eyes filled with envy and longing. Remembering the freedom of gliding on the ice reignited her love for figure skating.
"Isabella, look at them! If you join the state team, you'll definitely be better than them!" Jasmine said excitedly, as if she were the one joining the team.
Isabella watched the skaters spin and jump, her eyes gradually becoming determined.
"Jasmine, I want to join the state figure skating team!" Isabella's voice wasn't loud, but it was full of resolve.
Jasmine jumped up in joy. "I knew it! Isabella, you're going to crush it!"
That night, Isabella called Tyrell.
"Hi, this is Isabella. I've decided to join you!" Isabella said, her tone a mix of nervousness and excitement.
On the other end of the line, Tyrell's voice was filled with joy. "That's fantastic, Isabella! Welcome to the team! Come report tomorrow!"
After hanging up, Isabella excitedly threw herself into Alexander's arms.
