Chapter 136 Jagger Confessed

Alexander checked his watch and turned to Jasmine, "Hey, it's getting late. Let me take you home."

Jasmine just nodded, not saying a word.

Isabella glanced at Alexander and said softly, "Alex, I want to wait for Jagger to finish paying before we leave."

Alexander's eyes twinkled with a hint of mischief. "What? Worried Jagger can't handle it, or planning to crash Cecilia and Jagger's moment?"

Isabella's face turned bright red, and she quickly waved her hands, stammering, "No, Alex! It's not like that... I just..." She bit her lip, looking down a bit embarrassed, and mumbled, "I just want to check on Cecilia."

Seeing her cute reaction, Alexander couldn't help but smile as he ruffled Isabella's hair, his tone softening. "Cecilia's got Jagger looking after her. She'll be fine. Come on, let's head back."

Isabella nodded and followed Alexander out of the hospital with Jasmine.

At the payment counter, Jagger swiped his card, and Cecilia raised an eyebrow, teasing, "Wow, that's very generous. Jagger, you got a crush on me or something?"

Jagger's hand froze, a blush creeping up his ears. He cleared his throat, looking a bit flustered. "I... I don't!"

Cecilia chuckled, a hint of self-mockery in her voice. "Right, you've probably seen so many beauties. There's no way you'd be interested in someone like me."

Jagger suddenly looked up, his eyes locking onto Cecilia's, his tone serious. "Cecilia, don't put yourself down. To me, you're amazing—strong, independent, and full of charm."

He paused, gathering his thoughts, then continued, "I've never been in a relationship before, so I'm not great with words, but I really think you're awesome. Can you give me a chance to get to know you better?"

Jagger nervously watched Cecilia, his palms slightly sweaty.

Cecilia looked at the usually confident police captain, now nervous and awkward, with a slight blush on his face, and found it kind of cute. Her tense mind relaxed, and she could hardly suppress her smile. She put on a stern expression and said, "Get to know me? Are you sure? I have a bad temper, and I like to cause trouble..."

Jagger quickly interrupted, "I'm not afraid! I'm not afraid of your bad temper or you causing trouble! Just give me a chance."

Cecilia was amused by his serious attitude, a warm feeling spreading in her heart. She pretended to be reserved and nodded, "Alright... let's get to know each other first."

Jagger paused for a moment, then asked, "You... you agreed?"

Cecilia raised an eyebrow, a hint of playfulness in her eyes. "Guess?"

Jagger was momentarily at a loss but didn't push further. After paying, he waited for the doctor to bandage Cecilia's wound, then carefully led her out of the hospital. The night breeze gently blew Cecilia's bangs, revealing her smooth forehead. The streetlights cast long shadows, making them appear particularly close.

Downstairs at Cecilia's apartment, Jagger stopped the car and turned to her, his tone gentle. "We're here."

Cecilia unbuckled her seatbelt but didn't get out immediately. Instead, she looked at Jagger with a half-smile. "Jagger, it's so late. Aren't you going up for a drink of water?"

Jagger paused, his ears turning red again. He instinctively wanted to refuse, blurting out, "It's not appropriate. You shouldn't just bring strangers home; it's dangerous."

Cecilia almost choked on his bluntness, rolling her eyes. "Jagger, are you serious? Idiot!"

Realizing how dumb he sounded, Jagger scratched his head awkwardly. "That's not what I meant."

Cecilia sighed, pushing open the car door. "Forget it. Come up, just for a drink of water. Don't overthink it."

Jagger followed her upstairs. Cecilia opened her apartment door and headed straight to her bedroom. "I'm going to change. Make yourself at home."

Jagger sat stiffly on the sofa, his eyes wandering around the room. It wasn't big but was clean and tidy.

Cecilia came out wearing a loose T-shirt, revealing her long neck. Jagger's eyes unintentionally fell on a vivid blue butterfly tattoo on her skin.

He hesitated, then asked, "Your tattoo..."

Cecilia followed his gaze, her tone indifferent. "Do you like it? It's to cover a scar."

Jagger's heart sank. "A scar? How did you get it?"

Cecilia walked to the window, lighting a cigarette. "In high school, I was bullied. They cut me with a knife."

Jagger felt heartbroken and didn't press further, knowing some scars ran deeper than skin. He stood up, walked to her, and gently patted her shoulder. "It's all in the past. Focus on now." He turned to leave, stopping at the door. "It's late. Get some rest. Good night."

Cecilia watched him leave, the smile on her lips fading. She extinguished her cigarette, walked to the balcony, and watched Jagger's car drive away. The night wind blew her hair as she touched the tattoo on her neck, wondering if Jagger would judge her for it.

Jagger drove back to the Cooper Villa late at night. He couldn't stop thinking about the loneliness in Cecilia's eyes and how to approach her in the future.

He took out his phone and dialed Isabella's number. "Isabella, it's Jagger." His tone was tense.

"Jagger!" Isabella's sweet voice came through. "It's so late, what's up?"

Jagger took a deep breath. "I confessed to Cecilia."

"Really? How did it go?" Isabella's voice was full of excitement.

"She agreed to get to know me first." Jagger scratched his head, embarrassed. Isabella could imagine his awkward expression.

"There's hope! Jagger, go for it! I believe in you!" Isabella cheered. "Cecilia is a good person. She just seems a bit cold at first. You've got to show her you're sincere to win her over!"

"But what should I do?" Jagger asked, confused. He had always dealt with tough guys and criminals, not knowing how to pursue a girl.

"Jagger, you're such a blockhead!" Isabella scolded. "To pursue a girl, you need to..."

Isabella was about to share her tips when her phone was taken by someone else.

"Jagger, it's late. Can you not disturb me and my wife?" Alexander's deep voice came through, sounding displeased.

Jagger instantly fell silent.

"If you want to pursue a girl, ask Manuel. He's good at it." Alexander said and then hung up.
