Chapter 256 Bonus – Completely
Chapter 256 Bonus – Completely
Lainey’s POV
I was pretty sure I fell asleep on the operating table while Dr. MacKenzie was stitching me up, because I woke up in a private hospital room with someone holding my hand. “Hello, my sweetness,” Ben purred. “You look so gorgeous, my love.”
“Well, I feel like I’ve been hit by a Mack truck,” I giggled.
“You had major surgery,” Ben smirked. “You’re not going to feel like you were at the spa.”
“How are the babies?” I said, trying to sit up.
Ben’s arm shot out to stop me. “June said to keep you lying down until they check your incision.” Ben reached over and pressed the nurse's call button.
“Look at you giving the doctor’s advice to a doctor,” I chuckled.
“The babies are doing great,” Ben advised. “Killian and Becca were noisy as hell when they were getting their baths. He who shall be named is the most chill baby I’ve ever seen.”
“I guess we should figure names out before everyone comes to visit,” I declared.
The door opened, and June walked in. “Hello, Lainey, good to see you awake,” June said, smiling. “I wanted to be the one to check on you and bring the babies in before the end of my shift. I was going to come in and take your stats loudly if you weren’t up soon.”
“You know you could have woken me up,” I grinned.
“I know, but then I feel bad,” June replied. “You need all the rest you can get. I think baby 1 is going to be a handful. When they gave him his bath, you could hear his displeasure down the hall. The nurses at the station were saying he’s going to be an opera singer.”
I turned to Ben. “That’s your child,” I laughed.
“I’d like to disagree, but my mom warned me I would be paid back with a child like me,” Ben snickered.
June took my vitals and checked my incision. “No blood or weeping,” June stated. “Of course, you know that’s a good sign. You’ll be in hospital for at least 2 days. I’ll be back tomorrow to see you. Alison will be in to take care of you for the night shift.”
“Thank you, June,” I expressed. “Especially your help with Becca.”
“Becca? Such a pretty name,” June said, smiling. “Do you have the other names?”
“Our first son is Killian,” Ben advised. “Named after Lainey’s dad who passed away.”
“That’s a proper Irish name,” June grinned. “What about son number 2?”
“Still figuring that one out,” I told her.
“I really like honoring people that have passed or people in your life that mean a lot to you,” June stated. “Are you ready for me to bring in the babies?”
“Yes, please,” I beamed.
“I’ll be right back,” June said, smiling.
“Ben?” I asked.
“Yes, my sweetness,” Ben replied.
“Can you untie my hospital robe?” I queried.
“Baby! Not now!” Ben chuckled.
“Perv! No sex for 6 weeks,” I informed.
“I know,” Ben grinned.
June and another nurse brought in 3 cots with 3 tiny babies in them. June lifted one of the boys out. “Killian,” June announced, laying him on my chest.
“Hello, my sweet boy,” I cooed. “Killian George Halesten?”
“Perfection,” Ben agreed, smiling.
“5 pounds 11 ounces and 17 ½ inches long,” June advised.
I spent a bit of time with Killian, then Ben took off his shirt and took him as June passed me baby boy number 2.
“Hello, my little one,” I said softly. “So nice to finally hold you.” I held him and cuddled up to him.
“He just smiled!” Ben said happily.
“Nope, just gas,” I giggled.
“6 pounds even and 18 inches long,” June notified us. “Any thoughts on a name?”
I looked at Ben for ideas. “My uncle passed away when I was 12 years old. He was a wonderful man. I know my mom would love it if we named him after her brother,” Ben said thoughtfully. “Soren Halesten.”
“Soren Andrew Halesten,” I said, smiling.
“I love it,” Ben grinned.
“Do you think you can handle two boys, Dad?” June asked. “So, Mommy can meet Becca?”
“Well, I better get used to it,” Ben chuckled.
June situated Soren in Ben’s arms and adjusted both babies, then she laid Becca over my chest.
“My sweet, tiny Becca,” I said, tearing up. “Why do I think you’re going to have your daddy wrapped around your little finger?”
“All three of them will,” Ben smirked.
“Becca is 5 pounds 6 ounces and 16 inches long,” June informed. “She may be small, but the nurses in the nursery say she’s a spitfire.”
“Becca Angelica Ingrid Halesten,” Ben stated.
“Ben, it’s so perfect,” I whispered.
There was a knock on the door. “Can we come in?” My Mom asked.
“Of course,” I said, smiling.
Mom started crying the moment she walked in. As did Ingrid and Becks. George and Andrew had huge smiles on their faces.
“They are so beautiful, Lainey and Ben,” Ingrid gushed.
“Everyone, I’d like you to meet the Halesten babies,” Ben announced. “Dressed in mint green, Killian George Halesten.”
My Mom started sobbing. “Oh, Lainey,” Mom said, approaching me and hugging me. “Can I hold him?”
“Of course you can,” Ben said, handing Killian over to my mom.
“Now, dressed in the baby blue, please meet Soren Andrew Halesten,” Ben declared, looking at his mom.
Ingrid gasped and covered her mouth with her hands as she sobbed happy tears. “Hand him over,” she laughed, still crying. Ben stood up and handed Soren to his mom.
“And last, but not least, please welcome Becca Angelica Ingrid Halesten,” Ben revealed.
“SHUT UP!” Becks shouted and pushed Ben back.
“Ow!” Ben chuckled.
“I have a mini me to spoil rotten and send home to you guys!” Becca beamed. “This is so fucking cool!”
“Rebecca, language,” Ingrid chastised.
“Sorry, I guess I should start swearing less,” Becca said sheepishly.
In the next two hours, Roberta, Reg, Thomasina, Ren, and Meiko all visited and cuddled the babies. I fed the babies quite successfully, then they were taken back to the nursery. Our visitors had come and gone, leaving Ben and me sitting, holding hands.
The door opened, and a porter brought in an extra bed. I looked at the porter, confused.
“Thank you,” Ben stated.
“What’s going on?” I asked.
“I’m staying with you and the babies,” Ben responded.
“You don’t have to do that,” I expressed. “I’ll be ok.”
“Lainey, a year and a half ago you walked into my life, and I knew that exact moment that you were my heart and soul. Completely perfect,” Ben declared. “I love you and our family.”
“I love you, more,” I said, sniffling.
“I love you, most,” Ben replied.
“I love you, infinity plus 1,” I smirked.
Ben smiled and kissed my hand.
Life was perfect. Completely.
Thank you so much for reading the story of Lainey and Ben. I honestly wish I could write their story forever. When writing this novel, I fell in love with my characters… well, maybe not Jonah. I appreciate every single person who accompanied me on this journey.
