Chapter 156 Being Exposed?

After Mabel left, Edward and Abigail came downstairs.

Abigail's cheeks were a bit pink, while Edward looked completely content.

Murray, with his keen eyes, noticed Abigail's lips were swollen.

"Where's Mabel?" Abigail asked, glancing around the dining room and not seeing her.

"She was in a hurry to get home and change, so I had the driver take her back," Murray replied smoothly.

Abigail suddenly remembered she was running late!

She didn't have time for breakfast. Ondine quickly packed it into a container.

Edward naturally took it and followed Abigail to the car.

The drive from home to the office wasn't long, fifteen minutes tops.

"Eat your breakfast first," Edward said coldly.

However, Abigail ignored him, turning her head to look out the window.

Edward silently opened the container.

"Zephyr, lock the doors," Edward suddenly commanded, startling Abigail.

She turned back to see Edward leisurely looking at her, the small table in the car open with the packed breakfast for two on it.

"I don't mind being late," Edward said.

Abigail gritted her teeth.

Edward raised his wrist, "We have only ten minutes until we get to the office."

Abigail reluctantly took the food and began to eat.

She shouldn't have gotten into Edward's car just because she was in a hurry to get to work!

Once Abigail finally complied, Edward began eating his share.

Just before the car stopped, Abigail swallowed the last bite of her sandwich.

"Here, finish the last sip of soy milk," Edward said.

Abigail tilted her head back and drank it down.

"Can we open the door now?"

Edward put away the container and the small table, then suddenly leaned in. Abigail leaned back, but her stomach ended up in Edward's hand.

Edward touched her stomach, a satisfied smile curling his lips.

Abigail, however, jerked back, her sensitive and vulnerable belly caught in Edward's grasp, making her tense up like a tightly wound string.

"Get out, and don't forget to eat lunch," Edward reminded her.

As the car door unlocked, Abigail hurried out and rushed into the elevator.

The underground parking lot was relatively empty at this time. Edward chuckled softly, his eyes full of affection as he entered his private elevator.

As soon as Abigail entered the office area, Mabel approached, complaining, "Abigail, did you clock in? I think I was late by just a few seconds."

Abigail shook her head and walked towards her office.

Mabel quickened her pace to keep up with Abigail. "Abigail, if the driver had just taken me to the office this morning, it would have been better."

She was hinting.

"How would you have changed clothes then?"

Mabel's face changed, and she answered, "Next time, I'll bring an extra set of clothes."

"Are you that eager for me to get sick?"

With that, Abigail pushed the door open and went inside.

Mabel was stunned.

What happened? Why was she so angry?

She quickly thought back, wondering if she had slipped up.

Feeling anxious all morning, Mabel went to find Abigail for lunch, only to be told that Abigail had already left. Mabel was left empty-handed.

She didn't feel like eating and just squatted by the office door.

When Abigail returned with a colleague, Mabel quickly approached.

Abigail looked at her, surprised, "Why are you here?"

Abigail's voice was gentle, her attitude the same as usual.

Mabel felt like she was losing her mind. Was Abigail pretending, or had she been sleepwalking this morning?

"Abigail, I thought you were mad at me."

"Why would you think that?" Abigail asked, genuinely puzzled.

Mabel was at a loss for words. Abigail wasn't mad at all, so had she been a fool, panicking and worrying all morning?

Seeing Mabel's distressed expression, Abigail asked with concern, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

"Maybe I just didn't rest well last night. It's okay, I'll head back now. Bye."

Mabel left somewhat embarrassed, and Odette followed her.

They found a quiet place.

"What's wrong with you?" Odette asked, puzzled. She had stayed up all night but didn't look as drained as Mabel.

"Nothing, just keep an eye on Abigail and let me know immediately if anything happens."

"Alright, alright, always bossing me around."

Worried that Odette wouldn't be diligent, Mabel quickly transferred her a thousand dollars. "Be attentive. When I become the lady of the Harrison Group, you'll never have to worry about money again."

Odette rolled her eyes. "We'll see when that day comes."

She took the money and walked away.

Mabel's eyes turned cold. To be safe, she called Yvette.

The phone rang for a minute, but no one answered.

She sent Yvette a message, saying she could now enter Beverly Hills Mansion and asked for her help.

Meanwhile, Yvette had been locked in a room for three days.

She hadn't had a drop of water.

Derek had forbidden the servants from bringing her anything, and Juniper, who had pleaded for her, was also locked up.

Yvette lay by the door, her phone taken, and the room's internet cut off.

She could only endure.

Edward wasn't married yet, so she still had a chance to become the lady of the Harrison Group and Derek wouldn't let her die.

Dragging her weakened and dehydrated body, she slowly crawled to the foot of the bed and leaned against it, motionless.

The surveillance camera by the chandelier blinked red.

Before long, a servant brought in a doctor to give her a nutrient injection.

When she woke up, she was lying on the bed, Juniper holding her left hand, trembling with sobs.

"Mom..." Yvette's voice was weak and broken.

Juniper quickly wiped her tears. "Yvette, are you in pain? It's my fault, I couldn't protect you."

"I'm thirsty. Give me some water."

"The doctor said you can't drink water yet. I'll moisten your lips a bit."

Juniper busied herself caring for Yvette and didn't notice Derek entering.

Seeing the person behind Juniper, Yvette's eyes widened in fear.

"Yvette, what's wrong? Don't scare me."

Seeing Yvette's sudden change in expression, Juniper was worried sick.

"Get out," Derek said coldly.

Juniper froze.

"I said get out, didn't you hear me?"

Torn between her pitiful daughter and her tyrannical husband, Juniper hesitated until a servant came in and dragged her out.

The door closed, and Derek sat by the bed.

Yvette tried to sit up, but Derek pressed her shoulder down.

Looking down at Yvette, Derek's expression was terrifying.

"Yvette, you've disappointed me."

"I'm sorry, Father, I was wrong," Yvette said, her voice trembling as she lowered her head.

"Is an apology enough?"

"Father, I'll make you proud. Just give me some time, I promise..."

Before she could finish, a phone was thrown at her, casuing Yvette to cry out in pain.

"Look at this. The idiot you found is still trying to seduce Edward!"
