Chapter 155 Seduction Failed
Downstairs, Murray watched Mabel's sneaky behavior with a dark expression.
He turned around, half of his figure hidden in the shadows.
Ondine happened to come out of the kitchen, preparing to soak some soybeans for soy milk the next morning. She saw Mabel, who had already descended halfway down the stairs, sneak back up like a thief.
Ondine was puzzled. Her intuition told her that this woman had ulterior motives regarding Mr. Harrison. She was about to follow when a hand pulled her back into the kitchen.
"Murray, what are you doing?" Ondine said angrily when she saw who it was.
Murray's smile was mysterious. "If even we can see it, do you really think Mr. Harrison wouldn't notice?"
Ondine was startled, his mind racing.
"Are you saying Mr. Harrison is keeping her here on purpose?"
"Keeping such a scheming woman around Miss Peterson is bound to cause trouble sooner or later," Murray said with his hands behind his back.
"Murray, if what you say is true, and Mr. Harrison cares so much about Miss Peterson, why does he always argue with her and say such hurtful things? Even as an outsider, I can't stand it. How does Miss Peterson feel?"
Murray sighed. "The issues between them are too complicated for us to get involved in. But Mr. Harrison cares deeply about Miss Peterson."
Murray was about to leave but paused to remind her, "Don't meddle."
"I know. I'm just a servant. What can I meddle in? You should get the bodyguards ready. We can't let Mr. Harrison suffer."
Ondine felt disgusted.
Having a woman with such bad intentions climb into bed would be nauseating for days!
Murray had instructed that if anything happened, the bodyguards should immediately enter the house and take Mabel down.
But the night passed without incident.
Murray stayed up all night, and by morning, his eye bags were almost down to his mouth.
Ondine also stayed up most of the night and exchanged glances with Murray.
"What happened last night?"
That woman actually behaved herself all night?
Murray's face was grim.
Mabel came out of her room, smiling as she greeted Murray and Ondine.
Ondine awkwardly forced a smile, wondering if she had misunderstood her.
Murray's face was cold. "Miss, after breakfast, I'll have a car take you to work."
"No need to trouble yourself. I can go on my own," Mabel said considerately.
She made a move to go upstairs, but Murray blocked her with a stern face. "Miss Peterson is still resting. Please don't disturb her."
"I didn't mean to disturb Abigail. It's just getting late, and if I wait any longer, I'll be late for work," Mabel explained.
"The company belongs to Mr. Harrison. If Miss Peterson is late, do you think HR will dock her pay?" Murray's sudden words made Mabel's face change, but only for a moment.
"I was just worried," Mabel said with an embarrassed smile and sat down at the dining table.
She ate slowly, savoring each sip of soy milk as if tasting its nuances.
Murray and Ondine watched from behind, their eyes flashing with understanding.
They thought they had misjudged her, but she indeed had impure intentions and still harbored thoughts of seducing Mr. Harrison.
Ondine despised such people the most, those who would even seduce their friend's man!
How shameless!
Ondine was so angry her teeth itched.
But she couldn't just kick her out, so she stormed back to the kitchen in frustration.
Murray wanted to leave, but he couldn't. What if this woman went crazy and ran upstairs to disturb Miss Peterson?
Soon, a servant rushed in, pulling Murray away to handle an urgent matter.
Cursing under his breath, Murray had no choice but to leave.
The dining room quickly emptied, leaving Mabel alone. She glanced upstairs.
Last night, when she returned to the second floor, she indeed wanted to find Edward.
From Abigail, she learned that she and Edward were currently separated, which excited her.
She had already stood in front of Edward's door when she heard him talking to someone inside, seemingly Abigail's doctor.
She immediately sobered up and went back to her room.
She was eager to get Edward, but now wasn't the right time.
She needed to sow more discord.
This morning, as she noticed several new bodyguards patrolling the house, she felt reassured that she had made the right decision last night.
She slowly went upstairs to Abigail's door, her voice barely audible.
There was no sound from inside. She smiled, then rushed into Edward's room with a look of terror.
Edward had just finished washing up and was changing his shirt, his upper body still bare.
While enjoying the view, Mabel didn't forget to shout, "Mr. Harrison, I knocked on Abigail's door, but she didn't respond. I'm scared..."
Before she could finish, Edward had already rushed out.
Mabel's smile faded.
Edward cared so much about Abigail?
This was going to be difficult.
When Edward burst into the room, Abigail was sitting on the bed, looking frustrated. She had insomnia last night and had just woken up!
She was going to be late again!
As she fretted, the door burst open.
Abigail, with a bitter face, met Edward's worried eyes.
Silence slowly spread.
Standing at the door, Mabel clenched her fists. "Abigail, it's my fault. I knocked on your door, but you didn't respond. I thought—I'm really sorry. Did I scare you? I shouldn't have gone to Mr. Harrison."
Understanding the situation, Abigail felt speechless.
But with Mabel looking so apologetic, she couldn't say much.
"It's fine. Can you both leave? I need to change," Abigail said.
Mabel quickly left, pulling Edward along.
Edward frowned and shook her off.
Mabel awkwardly said, "Abigail needs to change. She asked us to leave."
"The one who should leave is you!"
Edward slammed the door shut.
Mabel stared at the door for a while, then angrily went downstairs.
Back at the dining table, she couldn't help but think, what if Edward and Abigail were getting intimate in there?
She thought of Edward's well-defined abs, his V-shaped torso, and his...
Her cheeks flushed, and her eyes filled with desire, which Ondine noticed. Ondine pursed her lips and slammed down the heated toast.
Mabel jumped. "Ondine, you scared me."
"Sorry, I don't mean to."
"It's fine. Just be careful next time."
Ondine was even angrier. She still wanted to come back?
So shameless.
"Miss, please finish your breakfast. The car is waiting outside."
"I wanted to wait for Mr. Harrison and Abigail to come down and eat together."
"No need. Mr. Harrison and Miss Peterson won't be down for a while. You don't want to be late, do you? The attendance bonus is quite substantial," Murray suddenly appeared, smiling falsely.
"Alright, sorry for the trouble."
Murray personally escorted Mabel to the car. Once she was gone, his expression changed instantly.
