Chapter 61 - Surprised by Three Mates
ONE DAY BEFORE THE FULL MOON (time to save the forsaken)
April POV
“Girl, when did you have time for any of that?” Wren asked as she looked at the painting of Sylvie.
“I’ve been working on the painting since I came back to life. The pearl? Goddess, that took forever to find. Having to sneak away from your mates and not take too long was so hard. I ended up spending 2 hours in the water just looking for it.” I said.
“My skin could never.” Wren shook her head. I giggled as I finished packing my bag.
“So.. when do I get to see you again? I’m gonna miss having a shopping buddy.. someone to complain about Baylard to.” She chuckled.
“If everything goes according to plan, we’ll be back after we kill Catherine. The guys and I are still deciding where our forever home will be.” I said. I trust wren, everything about her tells me she’s a loyal person. So, I filled her in on everything. Though from what she told me about the rumors.. it’s pretty much already out there.
“It’s going to be so boring without you here!” She sighed heavily.
“Yeah, it won’t be much fun for me either.” I giggled. The door opened and in walked Klaus.
“Are you ready?” He asked. I zipped up my bag and nodded my head.
“Yes, just got done,” I said. He walked over and kissed me before grabbing my bag.
“Alexei and Alastair are downstairs ready.” He said.
“Alright, let’s get going. Can’t keep the forsaken waiting forever.” I chuckled. Wren and I followed Klaus downstairs to the foyer.
“I am so not looking forward to this flight. I’d rather sleep the whole time.” I groaned.
“I can make that happen,” Alexei said with a smile.
“Works for me.” I giggled.
“Well, it was nice seeing you guys. If you need our help killing that b*tch Catherine.. we are all here.” Wren said.
“Thanks, Wren. I’m gonna miss you!” I said. She pulled me in for a quick hug.
“I’m gonna miss you too!” She said.
We pulled away and the guys started walking out of the castle with our things. Wren and I followed them out and said our goodbyes one last time before climbing into the car.
The drive to the airport felt very short. When we piled into the plane I took my seat next to Alexei.
“Ready for a good nap?” He asked.
“Yes. Please.” I smiled. I felt the darkness slip over me and within seconds I had passed out completely.
••••••••••••••••••••••••
“April.” Alastair’s voice woke me from my sleep. I fluttered my eyes open and looked around.
“Are we there?” I asked sleepily.
“Yes, love.” Alexei stepped from behind Alastair. Alastair held his hand out and helped me up.
“It’s going to be late when we get there.” Klaus huffed.
“I tried to get you guys up earlier. But both of you grunted when I tried to wake you up.” Alexei said.
“Yeah.. sorry about that,” Klaus said.
“I’m not. I slept well this morning.” Alastair said. We walked out of the plane and climbed into the car.
“How do you feel about tomorrow?” Klaus asked. I buckled my seatbelt and spoke.
“Great. I’m excited. I can’t wait to help them.. to give them back their lives. I wonder how many families will get their loved ones back after this.” I said.
“I’d say a lot. There are hundreds of forsaken.” Klaus said.
We spent the ride talking about tomorrow. We will go to the Pit, break the curse of the forsaken.. and hopefully, with their help on the blood moon, we will defeat Catherine. If Catherine can raise an army, so can we.
I grew fidgety as we pulled through the gates of my home. Not from nervousness, but excitement. I know it’s only been two weeks but goddess, I missed my family. I could already see my siblings and parents standing outside waiting for us.
I didn’t hesitate to hop out the second the car stopped and ran to my family. They all crowded me and hugged me tightly.
“G-guys.. I can’t.. breathe.” I choked out. They pulled away laughing.
“We’ve just missed our girl like crazy!” My dad said. He pulled me into his arms and kissed my head.
“I’ve missed you guys too,” I said softly.
“Lanie told me that you gave the dagger to Josephine.” Mom said.
“Do you think it was wrong?” I asked.
“No. I would’ve done the same thing.” She smiled.
“I’m ready to kick some old bat a*s!” Seb said. He had his hand in Seraphines.
“We all are.” Seraphine smiled.
“It’s so good to see you, Seraphine.” I smiled.
“We have news..” Sebastian said. I knew the moment I stepped close to Seraphine.
“Pups?” I squealed excitedly.
“You and those d*mn ears.” Sebastian chuckled.
“I went into heat the day you left. We found out just the other day.” Seraphine said.
“Oh, my goddess! I’m going to be an aunt! My brother is going to be a dad! I’m so happy for you! This is amazing! I can’t wait to spoil that little pup.” I said. Seraphine chuckled.
“You and your brother both.” She said.
“Let’s get you inside! It’s freezing, and Maria and I made pie.” Mom said. We followed her inside, and the smell of pumpkin pie filled my nose.
“It smells amazing!” I said.
We gathered in the dining room and took our seats. Of course, the rest of the family joined and welcomed me home. I’d truly missed them all.
••••••••••••••••••••••••
“Goodnight, princess. We’re all prepared for tomorrow, it’s going to be a big day.” Mom smiled at me.
“Goddess, yes it will be. Goodnight mom.” I hugged her one last time before climbing the stairs with my mates.
“That pie was so good!” Alastair said. He opened my bedroom door and walked in.
“It was. I’m surprised you didn’t eat all of it.” Klaus said.
“Believe me, when the queen offered it to me.. I thought hard about it.” Alastair said. He plopped on the bed and sighed.
“I’m so tired.” Alexei yawned.
“Let’s go to sleep,” I said. I stripped down into my panties and snatched up one of Klaus’s shirts then threw it on. I climbed into bed and snuggled up between my mates.
“Alexei.. can you help?” I asked softly.
“Of course.” He smiled. I kissed my mates and pulled the blanket up. It didn’t take long for sleep to consume me.
••••••••••••••••••••••••
“Wake up! It’s a beautiful day to save lives.” I said excitedly.
“Did you get that from Grey's Anatomy?” Alastair mumbled, still half asleep.
“Yes.. wait, have you watched it?” I asked.
“Only like 5 times.” His eyes slowly opened and he groaned.
“Come, Maria made French toast,” I said. He shot up and out of bed in a heartbeat.
“Yes!” He said as he jumped while he tried to pull on his pants. I shook my head and giggled as I watched him jump around like a monkey.
Alexei stepped out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist. I almost tripped over the air at his muscular body. Goddess, my mates are so s*xy.
“You got a little drool..” Alexei motioned toward the corner of his lips with a smirk. I rolled my eyes.
“Hurry, I’m hungry,” I said as I peeled my eyes away from Alexei’s body.
“Where’s Klaus?” He asked.
“Already downstairs,” I said. Alastair stood by the door waiting patiently for Alexei to get dressed. But I could tell the patience would soon turn to impatience.
Alexei quickly got dressed and grabbed my hand. We followed Alastair out of the room and down the stairs.
The moment I walked into the dining hall the French toast filled my nose and I moaned.
“Hey, save that for the bedroom.” Alastair joked. I lightly slapped his shoulder and shook my head.
“There’s my girl!” Maria’s voice came from the kitchen doorway. I walked over to her with a plate in her hand and hugged her.
“You made the best!” I said.
“Well, of course. Today is a wonderful and special day.” She smiled.
“It is indeed,” I said. I took my seat and almost actually drooled when she placed the French toast in front of me.
Alastair got his plate, and immediately took a bite. A loud moan left his mouth and I about fell out of my chair laughing.
“Save that for the bedroom.” I joked. He almost choked on his French toast.
We ate and talked about today. Mom and dad had Damien (one of the elite) pick out warriors to come with us to the pit. I know the forsaken won’t hurt us, but anything could happen. So we need to stay prepared.
“Liam!” I waved him over. He ran across the field and stopped in front of me.
“Are we heading out yet?” He asked. I nodded my head. Since it’s a little before noon, we will get to the pit before sundown.
“Okay, let me say goodbye to Charlie.” He said.
“Oh.. y’all have been hanging out?” I asked. I wiggled my eyebrows and his face got all red.
“Yeah, we’ve been hanging out a lot. I took her out for a date the other day.. she is such an amazing girl.” He said. Goddess, he’s madly in love, isn’t he? The thought brought a smile to my face.
“That’s amazing, Liam. I’m happy you’re finding your place.” I said.
“I love it here. This place is my first real home. The people.. they’re so nice.” He said.
“Good, I’d hate to have to beat them up for being mean to you.” I chuckled. I spotted Charlie standing across the field staring at him.
“Go tell your girl bye. We leave in 5 minutes.” I smiled. He nodded his head and quickly ran over to her. I’m so happy for him. They both deserve happiness and love.
“Hey, love.” Alexei’s voice came up behind me. I turned around a bit too quickly and stumbled, but before I could hit the ground his arms were wrapped tightly around me.
“I remember something like this happened the night I found you.” He said with a smile.
He leaned down and pressed his lips against mine. My body felt warm, tingles spreading everywhere. Oh.. goddess not now!
“What’s wrong?” Alexei pulled away. He could feel my emotions through the bond.
“My.. heat,” I said. I took the last elixir today, it should work.. at least I was hoping it would.
