Chapter 598: Teaching You a Lesson

Chapter 598: Teaching You a Lesson

"Keith!"

"Keith!"

"Mr. Morris!"

Seeing Keith and his group appear, combined with the shock of the gunshot, everyone fell silent.

Bodyguards from both sides stepped back. Leo also retreated to Wendy's side, conveniently blocking James behind him.

Keith strode confidently between the two parties, hands clasped behind his back, radiating authority without anger. The gentle elegance he'd shown before Wendy was completely gone.

Both Valencia and Wendy reined in their emotions, their faces showing a hint of tension.

Though Wendy held a significant position in The Morris Family, she couldn't compare to Keith, the heir.

"Matthew's daughter fell from a horse and still hasn't woken up. He's in a terrible mood."

Keith scolded both women without mercy:

"You're making a scene in public, pulling knives and guns—do you think that makes you cool?"

"Don't you know Matthew is famous for being ruthless?"

"He was transferred to Stardust City on behalf of many people's interests, specifically to crack down on the powerful acting out of line."

"If he catches you, whether it's The Morris Family or The Gonzalez Family, everyone's going to suffer."

He looked at them with disappointment: "If you want to destroy yourselves, fine, but don't drag the families down with you."

Wendy bit her lip stubbornly:

"I wasn't the one making trouble. Paxton drugged me..."

Valencia quickly defended herself: "Mr. Morris, this is just a misunderstanding. We're willing to apologize and compensate, but Ms. Morris insists on castrating Mr. Foster."

"Enough, stop talking. I know what happened."

Keith waved his hand to stop the two women from arguing, his expression stern:

"Paxton was wrong in this matter, and so was Valencia. If Wendy's reputation had been ruined, it wouldn't just affect The Morris Family's strategy—it would trigger a three-way war."

"Blood Medical Sect and The Gonzalez Family need to take responsibility."

"But Wendy wasn't actually harmed. If Lovesick had known it was you earlier, this wouldn't have happened."

"Better to resolve grudges than keep them. You'll all be running into each other in the future, so Wendy needs to back down too."

"Paxton will publicly apologize to Wendy and compensate The Morris Family with a thousand-year ginseng."

"The Gonzalez Family will transfer ownership of this bar to Wendy."

He made his decision firmly: "Wendy won't pursue this further, and you can take Yves with you. How's that?"

Valencia and Paxton exchanged glances, knowing they had to pay up tonight.

Valencia nodded: "No problem."

Paxton also smiled: "We'll follow Mr. Morris's arrangement."

A thousand-year ginseng was worth over a hundred million and was one of only a handful in the world. Keith was demanding a lot, but Paxton had no choice right now.

"I don't agree."

Wendy wouldn't budge: "If I hadn't been lucky enough to have someone save me tonight, I'd probably be Paxton's plaything by now."

"So I don't want an apology or compensation. I only have one demand—castrate Paxton."

"Otherwise, this isn't over."

She refused to let Paxton off. This scumbag—if she didn't take him down, more women would suffer in the future.

"Shut up."

Keith's face darkened: "Wendy, don't be impulsive. Paxton made a mistake, but it doesn't warrant that. Stop being childish."

Wendy lifted her chin: "I'm not being childish. I'm seeking justice."

"This isn't just my decision—it's the family's decision too."

Keith glanced at Leo and the others:

"From now on, no one is allowed to go after Paxton on Wendy's behalf, or you'll face family punishment."

Leo and the others' mouths twitched. Seeing the mocking smiles on Paxton's side, they felt extremely frustrated.

"Keith, what do you mean? It's one thing if you won't protect me, but now you won't even let me get revenge?"

Wendy was furious: "Are you even my brother?"

"It's precisely because I'm your brother that I can't let you act recklessly."

Keith stared sharply at his sister: "Otherwise, Grandpa and the others will punish you according to family law."

"Useless."

Wendy couldn't contain her anger:

"You always talk about the five great families, how powerful and amazing they are, but you're all just paper tigers."

"Not only do you use me for arranged marriages to trade for benefits, but when I'm bullied by Lumaria people, you don't even dare speak up."

"I'm ashamed of you."

Her heart ached. She'd thought with her brother here, she could get justice tonight, but instead she became a sacrificial piece for The Morris Family to profit from, while Paxton got off without a scratch.

This confirmed what she'd always believed—wealthy families are heartless.

Keith couldn't save face and slapped Wendy across the face:

"Shut up."

"If you don't like it, call Grandpa and see who's right and who's wrong."

He'd been full of anger these past few days—failing to deal with James and instead creating more trouble for himself. Now Wendy was openly challenging his authority. How could he not be furious?

Wendy staggered back a few steps, covering her cheek with a bitter smile:

"I'm the victim, and you're hitting me?"

Keith's face darkened: "You deserved it."

Valencia's side watched the siblings fight, their faces showing schadenfreude.

Wendy held back her grievance, not believing Grandpa would have the same attitude. She pulled out her phone and called.

The call connected quickly. Wendy walked to a corner, trying hard to plead her case.

Her face grew darker and darker, tears accumulating in her eyes. She opened her mouth to say something but couldn't get the words out.

Finally, she hung up, her face desolate.

Everyone could tell—Wendy wouldn't get her justice tonight.

Well, how could personal grievances compare to family interests?

A hint of amusement flashed in Paxton's eyes.

"Doesn't know her place."

Keith glanced at her, then turned to Paxton and Valencia: "Paxton, apologize to Wendy."

"Ms. Morris, I'm sorry. I was out of line tonight."

Paxton raised his hand and slapped himself twice.

Keith nodded with satisfaction: "Sincere. Remember to send the ginseng."

"The apology is no problem, and neither is the thousand-year ginseng."

Paxton rubbed his cheeks and smiled: "I can even compensate The Morris Family with ten century-old blood lingzhi mushrooms."

Ten century-old blood lingzhi mushrooms?

Everyone was surprised—these were treasures that money couldn't buy.

Keith's eyes narrowed: "Mr. Foster must have another condition?"

"The condition is—leave behind the person who injured Yves."

Paxton pointed at James.

This was meant to break Wendy's heart.

"No."

Wendy suddenly shuddered, instinctively blocking James: "You can't hurt him."

She never expected Paxton would go after James like this.

James?

Keith turned around, following everyone's gaze, and recognized James immediately. His pupils contracted sharply.

A surge of anger rushed from his heart to his head.

He hadn't expected James to be Wendy's savior, much less that James would be mixed up with Wendy.

What ulterior motives.

He wanted nothing more than to shoot James dead.

But he quickly suppressed his emotions, pretending not to know James, and smiled faintly at Paxton:

"Within three days, deliver the lingzhi and ginseng to The Morris Family."

He gave an order: "Someone, take Wendy away."

Several people immediately stepped forward and pulled Wendy away.

Wendy was grief-stricken and furious: "Keith, you bastard, I'm cutting ties with you."

"Leo, you must protect James, you must protect him."

"He only injured Yves because he was saving me. He can't come to harm..."

To let this go would be like being ungrateful, leaving her with lifelong guilt.

Keith ignored her, staring at Leo and shouting: "Everyone stand aside, don't block Paxton's way."

Leo hesitated for a moment.

Keith slapped Leo down: "Move aside."

The dozen or so Wang family bodyguards had no choice but to clear the way.

Wendy cried bitterly, completely heartbroken over Keith, but no matter how she struggled, she couldn't break free.

Keith paid no attention, preparing to leave with his people. But reaching the door, he suddenly stopped—he wanted to see what would happen to James.

Valencia walked forward with her people, staring at James with a smile:

"Learned a lesson today, didn't you?"

There are no permanent enemies, only permanent interests. With enough chips on the table, someone like James could be sacrificed at any time.

James drained his glass: "I did learn a lesson—I saw how shameless the five great families can be."

"Didn't you want us to give you an explanation?"

Paxton also approached, smiling:

"Now, we'll give you a proper explanation."

Dozens of people holding weapons pressed toward James.

James paid no attention, leaning back on the sofa, his fingers rhythmically tapping the rim of his glass.

Valencia initially looked mocking, thinking James was just pretending to be calm. The next instant, her face changed dramatically.

Paxton clutched his chest in pain and fell straight down.
