Chapter 84 The Parker Family Comes Knocking

Beckett stood next to Grandma with a beaming smile, watching his daughter on the stage with pride in his eyes. But it was the son-in-law by his daughter's side that he admired even more.

The others might not have known and were simply speculating, but Beckett was well aware. He had been in frequent phone communication with his daughter lately, especially about the connections between Asher and Lucas.

Initially, Beckett was also surprised and even disbelieving. Although he was quite fond of his son-in-law, he was aware of his limitations—a man of humble rural origins with no significant background, but someone whose temperament he greatly appreciated.

It wasn't until a couple of days ago that Lucas had sought him out...

Beckett had known Lucas for a long time. Although they didn't interact much on a regular basis, their temperaments matched, and they were already friends. Over tea and casual conversation, Lucas had expressed high regard for his son-in-law, saying that he had chosen an excellent partner.

"Alright, let's begin the feast," Grandma said with a smile, clapping her hands.

As her voice faded, a dozen waitresses entered from the kitchen corridor, each pushing a cart with three tiers filled with an array of delicious dishes.

Asher breathed a sigh of relief. Although this family banquet had been somewhat stressful, at least no major incidents had occurred!

However, just then, a loud voice echoed in everyone's ears.

"Heh, they say the early bird catches the worm, but fortune favors the timely. I wonder if she would be so kind as to spare a meal for me?"

Everyone turned their heads in surprise toward the uninvited guest at the entrance of the hall. Many wore puzzled expressions, while those in the know were visibly shocked, with many glances directed at Asher, their faces a mix of complexity and oddity.

There were three newcomers, two of whom were clearly bodyguards. The speaker, a man in his fifties with a square face and graying hair, exuded an aura of authority.

"Who might this be?"

Since they were seated closest to the entrance, Avery could feel the stranger's imposing presence more than anyone else, but she, too, did not recognize this formidable middle-aged man.

Asher's expression darkened instantly: "Javier!"

"Javier? From... the Parker family?" Avery murmured in confusion, then suddenly remembered and gasped.

Javier, the butler of the Parker family.

But unlike Finnegan, the butler of the Adams family, Javier was the sole chief butler of the Parker family!

Speaking of Javier, he was quite a legendary figure. Born into the Parker family, he had been with them for over fifty years. His father, Miguel, had been a protector hired by the Parkers and was highly regarded for his service. Eventually, Miguel fell in love with the youngest daughter of the Parkers, and the patriarch consented to their marriage. However, since she was from a secondary branch and not highly valued, Javier's status was predictable.

Yet Javier was a formidable character himself. His father had underworld connections, and Javier had developed his own skills from a young age, fighting for the Parker family at just sixteen. The family's current prominence owed much to Javier's efforts.

Although Javier didn't bear the Parker surname, he carried the family's blood. By the age of thirty-five, his reputation had surpassed many direct members of the Parker family, and he had a loyal following of battle-hardened brothers.

But he was not a Parker by name, and that made him a target.

That year, tragedy struck as his father perished in misfortune. His mother, deeply in love with Miguel, was heartbroken and soon fell ill, passing away before the year's end.

Javier, deeply affected, resigned from all his duties within the Parker family to observe mourning for five years.

Javier was smart and knew the times. His rising power had made him the envy of others, and with his parents gone, he stood alone within the Parker family without the protection of the Parker name. Retiring to a simple life was his only means of survival.

During those five years, free from mundane affairs, Javier's strength grew. At forty, he was a formidable force.

Of course, the Parker family didn't want to waste such a resource, but Javier wisely chose not to return to his old ways. Instead, he aspired to be the family butler, honoring his father's legacy and dedicating his life to serving the Parkers.

Over the next decade, the Parker family grew even stronger, becoming a leading force in New York, with Javier playing a key role in many major events.

Asher's gaze flickered.

Although Javier was "just" a butler, his power within the Parker family was top-notch.

He wondered if he could stand against Javier in a life-or-death struggle.

Javier seemed to sense something and glanced at Asher.

Asher's face relaxed into a natural expression, even offering a smile as a greeting.

Avery, though she had never met Javier, had heard of his reputation. Despite being a butler, his standing within the Parker family was significant.

She thought of the recent incident with Luke and her expression changed.

"Asher, his coming... could it be..." Avery looked worried, grasping Asher's arm urgently.

"It's okay, let's hear his purpose first," Asher reassured her, holding her cold hand.

Just as Grandma was about to descend from the stage to join the Morgans for the meal, she saw Javier's arrival and her expression shifted. She quickly put on a smile and approached: "The butler's visit is a surprise. Had I known, I would have tidied the yard and welcomed you personally. Please, take a seat," she said, showing great respect to Javier.

Although the Morgans were a second-tier family, Grandma was still the head of the household, and Javier, no matter how powerful, was still a butler.

"Your kindness is overwhelming, but I dare not," Javier bowed lightly to Grandma, his demeanor cordial. He glanced around with a slight smile and said, "One does not visit a temple without a cause. I apologize for interrupting your meal, but I am here to deliver a message."

"Oh? What instructions do the Morgans have to carry out?" Grandma asked with a low posture, a smile still on her face.

He glanced at Asher and Avery, his eyelids twitching, sensing Javier's purpose for coming.

"Even if Luke is not up to par, he's still one of the Parker family. Being beaten to such a state warrants an explanation. He's been waiting at home, but Mr. White has yet to visit, so I find myself here instead," Javier said with a slight smile, glancing at Asher.

Asher's eyelid twitched, feeling Avery's hand tighten in his palm, nervous.

Asher was also tense because Javier had not used his name but "Mr. White" instead!

Clearly, others might not know his other identity, but the powerful Parker family knew he was the president of Fly Pictures!

The only question was whether the Parkers also knew his most secret identity.

If so, not only was he in danger, but Avery could also be at risk.

However, Avery, who had not caught the special significance of Javier's use of "Mr. White," simply thought it was a formal way of addressing business matters.

"This is indeed an oversight on our part. May I ask what he intends?" Grandma inquired.

"Our family member was assaulted, and it's only right to compensate for medical expenses, isn't it?" Javier said, not angry but smiling at Beckett.

"The man was beaten by me, and I can compensate for that. I will pay!" Asher stood up and declared.

He could not allow his father-in-law to face this alone.

He turned to Asher with a nod and a smile, appreciating his awareness of the situation.

Avery bit her lip, unseen by others, but she could see Asher's clenched fist under the table.

She knew Asher could endure, that a true man could bend and stand tall. She didn't see his concession as unmanly, for he had acted to protect her.

Cameron, sitting in front, changed his expression when he heard Asher's words. This worthless man, with hardly any money to his name, was promising to pay fifty million? Even if he sold everything he owned, he couldn't afford it.

In the room, only Avery truly understood Asher. Even Beckett was surprised and angry with Asher.

As for the rest of the Morgans, they might understand the need for compromise, but they still labeled Asher as useless.

"However, your Parker family member Luke insulted my wife. How do we settle that?" Asher suddenly asked, his voice steady and firm.

With that, the expressions of the Morgan family members changed once more.

Negotiate with the Parkers? Had this worthless man gone mad?
