Chapter 142 I Won’t Let You Talk to My Wife
Chapter 142 I Won’t Let You Talk to My Wife
Evelyn
The next morning, I woke up feeling strangely comfortable when I remembered Adrian’s words from yesterday.
“I feel happy all of a sudden... Maybe this is the feeling they always talk about.”
I touched my phone and looked at it, shocked when I found that it was ten-thirty in the morning.
“Damn, I slept so much.”
I stood up and went to the bathroom, feeling really great. I took a quick shower and put on my white towel, opened my bag, and tried to choose beautiful and sexy clothes.
“I have to look very beautiful today for Adrian.”
After thinking for a long time, I chose one of the swimsuits, put it on, wore a light dress over it, and looked at myself in the mirror. I was very satisfied with my appearance, so I sat down to put on some makeup.
“But we’re going swimming, what if I end up looking like a clown...?”
I shrugged my shoulders and smiled.
“Let it be, I don’t want to think about anything... I just want to look beautiful.”
I only put on some sunscreen, mascara, and lipstick that was not dark but suited my skin tone. I combed my hair until it became beautifully wavy.
I left the room humming, went down the stairs, and saw Adrian, Marcus, Miran, and Kai all having breakfast together. I could hear their voices downstairs.
Adrian looked at me and was stunned by what he saw. I looked very beautiful as I came down the stairs.
“Good morning.”
Marcus stood up, took my hand, and kissed it as he did every day. I smiled and looked at him.
“Good morning, Mom. I was coming to check on you. How are you feeling?”
I nodded while smiling.
“Fine... Don’t worry, son. I see you’re all awake.”
“You’re still just as I remember, you don’t wake up early.” Kai said sarcastically, making me look at him sharply. Adrian did the same, even Marcus. Kai ate some sausage and rice without caring.
“Mind your own business, Kai... It’ll be better for you.”
Kai looked at me while chewing his food. I had grown quite a tongue. He drank some water and nodded, and I noticed his hidden tension. I was pretending that I was no longer afraid of him, while the opposite was true.
I sat in my own chair beside Adrian, who was looking at my innocent features. Miran rolled her eyes in boredom, while Kai continued his breakfast and spoke from time to time with Miran.
“Good morning, Mrs. Watterson.”
I looked at Adrian and smiled.
“Good morning, my son.”
That was enough to ignite his fire. He closed his eyes, stunned by my voice as if he were in heaven.
“Adrian, why did you close your eyes all of a sudden?” Marcus said, making Adrian open his eyes and look at him.
“Ha... uh, something got into my eyes...”
He started looking at me nervously, and I smiled, shaking my head at his silly behavior.
“Good heavens, Adrian, wash your face or tell Mom to blow into your eye.” Marcus said without much interest, as he was looking at something on his phone.
“Ha... yes, I don’t want to bother her,” Adrian said in confusion.
“Show me what kind of bother that is. You’re my son after all.”
His heart started beating hard as he looked at me. I moved toward him, held his face, and smiled. My chest was pushed up strongly, making him look at my chest and back at me. I noticed his gaze and smiled lightly.
“Damn me,” he said in a low voice.
He closed his eyes again, feeling my touch, and shivered lightly.
“Open the eye that hurts,” I said in a seductive voice.
Everyone was busy. Marcus was looking through his phone, while Kai and Miran were talking and looking at some places they could visit.
Adrian opened his eyes. I forgot that he was with Marcus, Kai, and Miran, as he looked only at me.
I gently blew into his eye while simply smiling.
“Are you okay now?”
He looked at me in a daze.
“Fine... Very fine... Thank you.”
He looked at me and smiled, before becoming aware of his behavior and clearing his throat. Luckily, no one noticed his actions.
“Where are we going today?”
“Nothing specific yet, Mom,” Marcus said.
I looked at the table. It was full of all kinds of food, so I ate some rice.
“Mrs. Evelyn, I made some pancakes for you. I mean, I made them for us,” Adrian said nervously.
I looked at him in surprise.
“For me? Adrian, I didn’t know you could cook.”
“But I cooked once before. Did you forget?”
“Oh, right, yes. My memory is bad.”
Marcus spoke from the side.
“He woke up early to make us some pancakes, Mom. Isn’t Adrian sweet?”
Marcus laughed, and I looked at Adrian with a smile.
“He really is very sweet.”
He looked at me and smiled.
“This is nothing.”
Miran was looking at me jealously, while I watched Adrian serve the pancakes onto my plate and pour me a glass of orange juice. He poured some for Marcus too so no one would suspect me.
“Thank you, my son. You take good care of me.”
I was only looking at him and smiling.
“Thanks, my friend. They’re very delicious, aren’t they, Mom?”
I ate and smiled softly.
“Very much, Adrian... You’re good at this.”
“I’m glad you liked them... It’s an old recipe from someone dear to me,” Adrian said absently.
I ate and talked with Marcus and Adrian, while Miran looked at me jealously because of the way Adrian treated me.
“Sweetie, is there somewhere you want to go? I mean, somewhere specific?”
Marcus looked at me while eating.
“I don’t know, Mom... Nothing is in my head right now... What do you think, Dad?”
His father turned toward him and smiled.
“Pick any place... I don’t know. What do you think, Miran?”
Kai looked at her, making her think before she spoke coldly.
“I don’t know. All places are beautiful. What do you think, Kai, should we go to that forest I told you about?”
Kai looked at her.
“Oh, that forest? I don’t know.”
I was eating when I spoke.
“What forest?”
Miran looked at Kai.
“We’re planning to go to a forest near the sea, and we’re asking Evelyn not to ruin our day like yesterday.”
Miran drank her coffee coldly and looked at me, while I looked at her.
“Mrs. Miran, Mom didn’t do that on purpose,” Marcus said angrily.
“I know, but she should control herself. She’s not a child,” Miran said boredly.
“Miran, please, sweetheart...” Kai said warningly.
Miran looked at him sarcastically.
“What? She’s always causing problems.”
I grabbed the eggs and ate, while looking at her with anger and sadness at the same time. I looked down sadly.
Adrian noticed my sadness, became very angry, and looked sharply at Miran. She was talking to Kai, holding his hand and laughing lightly.
“Why don’t you mind your own business, Mrs. Miran?” Adrian said sharply.
That shocked everyone. Adrian was looking at Miran harshly.
“Adrian, I won’t let you talk to my wife like that,” Kai said angrily.
Adrian looked at Kai and laughed sarcastically.
“Then tell your wife to respect Evelyn. She has been disrespecting her since we came here... Have some respect for your ex-wife. She’s your son’s mother after all!”
I looked at Adrian in shock. I could not believe he was defending me, and Marcus was shocked too.
“Adrian, what got into you all of a sudden?” Marcus asked in surprise.
Adrian looked at him coldly.
“Can’t you see that she’s bothering your mother, Marcus?”
I smiled while looking at Adrian.
“I didn’t say anything. I only said...” Miran started.
“You’re the one ruining things, Mrs. Miran. You alone.” Adrian cut her off as he stood up.
Adrian left angrily, and Miran looked at him sadly.
“Adrian, wait.”
He did not listen and walked away quickly.
“I’m sorry, Mrs. Miran. Adrian doesn’t control his anger sometimes. Dad, I’m sorry,” Marcus said nervously.
Marcus looked down sadly, very tense because of his father.
“I’ll overlook this so I don’t ruin the vacation, but there will be consequences later,” Kai said.
He ate some sausage calmly.
I looked at Miran angrily, and she looked at me angrily too, but I smiled sideways.
“I told you before, don’t play with me. You’re the one who will lose in the end.”
I stood up from the table and walked away from there.
“Mom?!” Marcus called.
