Chapter 99 Chapter 99

Chapter 99 Chapter 99
Celine's POV;

"Wow! You look so familiar, like I've seen you before. Have we met somewhere before?" Edwin asked, but I shook my head and replied, "No. I am sorry, but this is my first time seeing you."

I quickly denied it; I wouldn't want to recap Edwin's memory.

"That's right. You almost resemble my best friend's wife, Clara Mason. She is a model in Turkey Island, though. I almost thought you were her, but for your red hair."

I tried to keep a neutral face and denied it again.

"I am sorry. I don't know who Clara Mason is. I think people do resemble one another," I told Edwin, and he nodded.

"That's right. Don't mind me anyway. It's just that I came back to see if you have changed your mind about my proposal and if you have agreed to work with me," Edwin said, but I shook my head.

"No. My answer remains no," I told him, and he frowned.

"I will pay you a million for your service. You don't have to cook all the meals, just the top meals and also the pepper soup," he said.

"I am sorry. I cannot accept the offer."

"Why? Or do you want me to increase it?" he begged, but I shook my head.

"I am a single Mom, and if I have too much work to do, I will hardly have the time to spend with my son."

"Okay. How about your recipe? You can come and teach my staff how you cook your meals and make them delicious. You don't have to work there, but I will appreciate it if you add your magic aroma to my hotel's restaurant's flavor," he said, and I sighed.

"Fine. I will think about it. When should I visit your hotel? Has the hotel resumed functions?" I asked him, and he shook his head.

"No. I will host a party for my hotel opening next month. I will invite you before then to create special meals for my guests." He smiled.

"Oh!" My heart beat skyrocketed, thinking Jace might attend the event.

"Here is my card. You can give me a call later." Edwin gave his card to me, not waiting to hear my rejection.

I sighed, accepted his card, and thought about it.

"Alright. Have a nice day. Goodbye, Justin," I waved to Edwin's son, and the little boy happily waved goodbye at me.

"Goodbye, aunt," he said, holding his father's hand, and I watched them walk away.

I sighed and went back into my office, wondering if I would be able to attend Edwin's party.

"Mom, what is the blue card in your hands?" Kaleb asked me as I entered back into my office.

"It's a contact card," I said tiredly as I moved back to my office chair and sat down on it.

"Oh, does that man want you to call him?" Kaleb asked, and I shook my head.

"No. He wants to partner with me, and he is inviting us to his hotel launching party," I said as I massaged my temples.

"Wow! Are we going to attend it?" Kaleb asked, looking eager for the party.

"I don't know. Do you want us to go?" I asked Kaleb.

"Yes, Mom! You hardly take me to any party or event. I want to go! I want to go!" Kaleb screamed.

"Fine. It's in a month's time. We will get prepared for it," I placed Edwin's card on my desk, and Kaleb picked it up and looked at it.

"I'll call Becky right now to bring your food, or you can go out and meet her and request our food. But do not wander about," I told Kaleb, and he giggled.

"Alright, Mom. I will be back!" Kaleb dashed out of my office and went to bring our lunch.

Once he got back, we sat across from each other, while another of my waitresses came to serve us meals.

Jace's POV;

"Where's your mother?" I asked my son, Kevin, as I just got back home and found him in his room, going through his books.

The school was on holiday, and Kevin was done with his nursery school.

He was so smart and intelligent for his age. I guess he took after my intelligence. But he hardly speaks to anyone and loves to keep to himself.

As he sat on the couch in his kid's room, Kevin looked at me and mumbled, "Welcome, Dad."

Unlike other kids that would run to give their father a welcome hug, I watched my son continuously flip through the book that he was reading.

When I got back from the office, I didn't see Kevin downstairs or in the living room. He was always in his room, isolating himself from everyone.

"Kevin, have you had your dinner? It's past 5 pm, and you are still glued to your books. Put the book away and come now," I ordered him, and he frowned.

"Dad, I am not hungry," he replied, not taking his face away from his book.

"Are you avoiding me? What is that book that you are reading?" I strode into my son's room, and he was reading a novel.

It was a book for superheroes, and he was seriously reading it.

"Can you even read this story? The grammar is too ambiguous for a small boy your age. Do you want to burst your brain?" I scolded him, and he frowned.

"I love to read, Dad. Mom doesn't like to play with me or take me out to watch her modeling, and also, I am bored watching cartoons. So I developed a habit for reading," he said, and I closed his book and put it aside.

"Dad is home, and you can read later. Do you like to watch football or any sport? Should we go on vacation and visit the stadium? The school gave you a two-month vacation break until you get to a new class, and you need to take a break from reading," I lectured him, and he rolled his eyes at me.

"Dad, I don't care if the school is on vacation. I just love my books, and I am cool with it. You and Mom don't have time for me, so leave me alone," Kevin smacked my hands away, and I frowned.

"I am your father. If I don't go to work, how do I provide for you?" I asked him, and he frowned.

"Can you give me a little brother to play with since you and Mom do not want to play with me?" Kevin asked, taking me aback by his question.

"Did your mother tell you to tell me these things?" I asked my son angrily, trying to control my anger, and he looked away.

"Mom said she doesn't have time for me since you don't want to give her other babies, and I don't want to bother you too, so don't bother me," Kevin said, glaring at me, and I knew that Clara was a bad influence on my son.

Since I refused to touch Clara, she developed a habit of smoking, and I knew that she sleeps around. But I didn't care.

When I brought up the divorce and for Clara to leave my house, she threatened that she would leave with my son.

She was poisoning Kevin's mind against me and lying to my son that I do not like him. For that, I tolerated her, as I knew that she was using Kevin against me.

Kevin resembles me, but his attitude is getting me pissed off.
