Chapter 94 Chapter 94
JACE'S P.O.V
I was in my office going through my social media page and waiting for Celine to reply to my message from the previous night. But Celine didn't come online again.
I was saddened by the thought that she read my message and didn't reply to me.
Did those three months of our marriage mean nothing to her?
I went through the old CCTV videos of Celine and myself and watched some of them.
I watched both our intimate videos as I could not seem to get her out of my mind.
I knew that Celine left Turkey Island because she wanted me to continue my marriage with Clara, but I didn't want her twin sister again.
After watching some of the videos that I had saved, even when Celine wasn't aware that I had our videos saved, I decided to check on the recent videos and see what Clara was doing.
When I went through the video, I watched how Clara struggled to hold the knife and cut the onions.
I just reclined in my chair, watching Clara's struggles. She was trying to win me back, but did she think that I am that gullible?
The reason I dated Clara was that I fell in love with her at first sight. I had a strong connection with her, and I hardly felt that way with any woman.
I avoided women from getting close to me. But with Celine, I felt that same bond at Clara at first sight, which made it difficult for me to realize at first that I was tricked.
I went to meet Clara at the door of my study, and she was inviting me to join her for lunch.
If it were before, I would be thrilled that Clara could cook and was trying to please me. But now, I was only waiting for Kevin's DNA report to be sure that he was my son.
After I warned Clara not to cook for me again, since I knew that she was trying to please me for us to continue with our marriage, and especially now that she had given birth, I didn't want her.
As we arrived at the second floor and had our seat, I watched the meal, and it looked nice. But still, it lacked Celine's flavor.
If I would rate Clara's cooking, I would rate her food 4 out of 10 for the hours that she spent cooking.
Taking my seat first, as Clara came and sat across from me.
"How did you like the meal, Jace? It's nice, just that it's a little spicy," Clara said, making me sigh heavily.
After I washed my hands and picked up the spoon, I tasted the jollof rice that Clara had spent hours cooking.
"How is it?" Clara asked me, smiling from cheek to cheek. I looked at Clara's face and replied, "It's manageable. No talking when eating."
Clara grinned and picked up her spoon as she looked away from me. "Got it." She giggled while I glanced away and managed to finish up my meal.
After my dinner with Clara ended, I grabbed a bottle of cold water and drank it to soothe my throat as she had put a lot of spice in the food.
"You don't have to stress about cooking for me so that you do not grow old or develop wrinkles," I said, reminding Clara of her own words.
"I don't mind having wrinkles for you, Jace. Please, give me another chance; let's rekindle our marriage. I know that I made a grave mistake before, but I am ready to make amends," Clara said as she clasped her hands in a pleading manner in front of herself.
"No. I am not angry with you. I already told you that I am married to your twin and not you. So you don't have to push for my attention. The divorce papers are still available if you want to sign them today." I stood up on my feet to leave the dining room.
Clara lowered her head, and her fist clenched as she avoided looking at me.
"After everything I did for you, Jace, why don't you want to give me another chance, please?" Clara begged me as she rushed out of the dining room to kneel and beg me. She didn't care if Esther or Tina was looking at us.
"I don't want to discuss this," I said, and Clara let go of my leg as she wanted me to take pity on her.
I moved away and retreated back to my study.
The next day, I got a call from Dr. Leo Easton that the DNA test results of my son were out.
Dressing up in my room as I made sure to avoid Clara the previous day, I got out, wearing a black suit as I had some work to do. That included visiting some sites where some of my construction projects were ongoing.
To my surprise, as I came downstairs to the first floor, Clara stepped out of the kitchen dressed in a black suit and shoes.
"Good morning, Jace," she greeted me with a smile, and I sighed and looked away from her just as we approached the dining room at the same time.
As I settled on the first chair, I asked Clara, "Where are you off to dressed like this?"
Clara sat across from me, giggling as Esther came out of the kitchen and served her tea.
Clara then stylishly picked up the bread and ate it. She didn't dip her bread into her tea to soften it like Celine does.
I glanced away from Clara as Esther politely asked me, "What can I serve you, sir?"
"A cup of coffee is okay."
"Alright, sir," Esther replied and quickly retreated to brew my coffee.
As I glanced back at Clara's face, I asked her, "As a postpartum mom, don't you think that it's too early for you to resume work? You just welcomed our child, which I am not so sure about being truly mine. But nonetheless, I wouldn't deny the fact that we had an affair. Don't you think it's best to take a month's break to recover fully?"
Clara smiled and looked away as she kept her focus on her tea.
"I cannot stay idle. You don't want to help me with my recovery, so it's best that I resume my job to help me recover," she said.
"Alright," I didn't argue.
"You should go with the security men for your safety," I reminded Clara, knowing that she was angry because I didn't want to continue my past affair with her.
"I can protect myself, Jace. I have been doing that even before we met," Clara replied coldly.
I raised my head and peered at her face as Esther tensely came out of the kitchen to serve my breakfast.
"That's fine. How about Kevin? You cannot be out all day and leave him alone in the house. Or when do you plan to return?" I asked Clara.
"I will be back on time. Let's just say I will spend only four hours. By 1 p.m., I am home," Clara smiled, and I sighed.
"Fine. I will be going to see Dr. Leo today. If the test result is positive, then I will get the nanny as promised and update about Kevin on my page," I said as I picked up my coffee and took a sip.
Clara harshly rose from the dining table and yelled, "Do your wish, Jace. Kevin is your son, and I never cheated on you."
"Alright," I replied calmly while Clara stepped out of her seat. She snatched her handbag from the living room coffee table where she kept it, and she angrily left the house.
I sighed and finished up my coffee, then I informed Esther to take care of Kevin in my absence.
"Alright, sir," Esther replied with a bow of her head as she was avoiding my gaze. I left the house, got into my car, and drove off from the house as I ordered Roy to keep an eye on Kevin too.
