Chapter Two Hundred and Thirty-Four

Chapter Two Hundred and Thirty-Four
Jayce

I have finally managed to get away from all the business talk. I am enjoying the last hour of the event with everyone. There has been way too much business talk tonight. We are leaving soon and heading to another bar for a few drinks before we head home.

Suddenly, we see Lillian rushing out of the bathroom, holding her face.

“Wonder what all of that is about?” I ask.

Rose looks at me. “I know. Remi is also in the bathroom. She is probably the cause of it. I told her to leave it.” She sighs, shaking her head.

Good on her. I don’t condone violence, but if Remi slapped her, then she deserves it, especially after hurting Rose’s arms. I was so mad when I found out. I was ready to go yell at Lillian, but Rose told me to leave it alone.

Remi comes out of the bathroom, a proud look on her face and strolls towards the table, smirking.

“What did you do?” Rose asks.

“I gave her what she deserved. I was in one of the stalls, and she had no idea I was there. I heard her bitching about you to some of her friends. She was telling them how much she hates you and that she would get Jayce, since she always gets what she wants. Then, when I stepped out, she continued, trying to show off in front of her friends. I told her what I thought and then slapped her. I would do it again.” She shrugs.

I stop from smirking because I agree with Remi, she deserved it.

“I guess your mother talking to her didn’t work?”

“I don’t know, pretty eyes, but forget about her, okay? Everything she said was bullshit.”

“Thank you for always having my back, Remi.”

“What are best friends for. Shall we go? Do we need to stay here until it finishes?”

“No, we can go. We need to say goodbye to some people.”

I am sure Rose is eager to get out of here. We head to say goodbye to my parents and some of the other guests before piling out and walking towards the closest bar. We were walking because there were plenty of bars around.

I slip my arm around Rose’s waist. “Are you okay?”

She glances up at me. “I am fine. I can handle her. I am not the same self-conscious woman I was back when we first met. Her words don’t get to me anymore. I know you wouldn’t cheat on me, Jayce. I wish she would find someone else; you know?”

I kiss the top of her head. “I know, pretty eyes.”

If this were back when we first got together, I know it would be affecting her because she had her doubts, something she doesn’t have any longer, thankfully or all the things Lillian said would get in her head.

“I want to forget her and just enjoy our night with everyone. I love you,” she says and reaches up, kissing me softly.

“Good plan. I love you too.”

I keep her closer as we stroll to the bar, heading inside and finding a table for everyone to fit at. We all need a drink or two after tonight. We had to behave at the event, not anymore. We can do as we please and have a lot of fun.

I carry Rose inside. She drank way too much tonight, which isn’t like her, but I let her be because even though she said she was okay, she was stressing out about everything that happened tonight. I don’t like seeing her this drunk. I sigh, taking her straight to the bedroom. She had fallen asleep in the cab and still is. I will worry about her tonight in case she ends up sick.

“Jayce, where are we?” she slurs.

“Home, sweetness. I am going to get you ready for bed.”

She nods and falls back asleep. I lay her down on the bed, changed her into her pjs, and covered her up. I don’t believe I have ever seen her this wasted. I don’t like it.

I sigh and stand, going to get her some water. Rose reaches for my arm, stopping me. I turn to her. “Are you okay, angel?”

“Please don’t leave me.”

“I am only going to get some water. I will be back in a second.”

“No, I mean don’t leave me,” she whispers softly.

Lillian’s words have gotten into her head even after she said they wouldn’t. “Rose, you know I am not going anywhere. I promise. You are stuck with me now.”

“Okay,” she says, lets go of my hand and falls back asleep.

I hate that she is having even a second of doubt. It has been a while since that has happened. Hopefully, it is just the drink, and tomorrow things will be back to normal. If not, I will go have a word with Lillian and make sure she stays away, because I am not having Rose have any doubts because of her.

I head downstairs to get some water for her before I join her in bed. I won’t sleep deeply tonight in case she wakes up sick. I hate seeing her sick, even if it is because of alcohol. Rose hates being sick. I roll her onto her side just in case.

“Goodnight, pretty eyes. Tomorrow is a new day. Everything will be okay. I love you.”

I roll onto my side and drape my arm over her, pull her back against me and link our fingers. I close my eyes, hoping sleep will take over me. Rose snores slightly from next to me. She always stores louder if she has been drinking. She will regret it in the morning. I will be taking care of her hungover ass as she did for me that last night. I don’t mind. I like taking care of her. No, I love taking care of her.

“I love you,” she mumbles in her sleep.

I smile. Even when she is wasted and half asleep, she still tells me she loves me. Every single night, no matter what. Even if we have argued or she is mad at me, she still says it.

“I love you too, beautiful,” I whisper, kissing over her shoulders.

Rose rolls over and cuddles into me, burying her face in my chest and her leg drapes over me. It isn’t the most comfortable for me, but as long as she is comfortable, that is all that matters. I hold her tightly and make sure the covers are pulled right up because it is cold tonight. I don’t want her to be cold and end up sick. I caress the small of her back, something she always likes. It comforts her. I can’t wait to have this for the rest of my life. I couldn’t imagine having anyone else in my arms. I am counting down the days until we become husband and wife, hoping it will come around quickly. We are nearly down to the four-month mark now. I wish I could make it sooner, but I can’t wait because it will be worth it. Rose is worth it.
