Chapter Thirty Seven
Chapter Thirty Seven
Margaret Mathias.
I stood up as I rushed towards Salvador and managed to cut the ropes using a dagger that was kept on the table.
"We need to leave right now, because we don't have much time."
"I can't leave unless I get the soul of Greg."
"Greg? Who the fuck is Greg?" I asked while looking him in the eyes. He stood up and walked towards me as he managed to wrap his hand around my cheeks while looking me in the eyes. I could feel my heart beating faster with every passing second. His perfectly designed face was clearly shown in the dimly lit room, which made the whole process look more admirable. I felt my heart racing even faster when he suddenly carried me in his arms and pinned me hard against the nearby wall; his eyes turned rage red as he had totally lost his mind.
'Fuck, I want him so badly already,' my wolf growled within me, which made the whole ordeal even more appealing. I tried to calm my nerves, but he was so dominating that it made me submit to his dominance.
Suddenly the door burst open, and that was when I realized what we were about to do. I saw Bright, standing with a mischievous smile on her face. "Oh, you guys have even made things easier for me. I can't wait to show you what I'm really made of, so you won't have to make the mistake of trespassing in my lair ever again."
He said those words with such authority in his voice, which made cold shivers run down my spine. I tried as much as possible to ignore possible outcomes before I lunged at her, but Salvador grabbed my hand, his eyes still dark with unquenched need.
"Let me go." I fought with him so he could let go of me, but his hand only tightened, which made the whole situation more dangerous.
I stared into his eyes before I said gently, "It is not the time for this; please let me go." I saw him take a deep breath, almost realizing what he just did before he let go of my hand, which made me relieved. When I turned to fight Bright, I noticed that she was nowhere to be found.
Salvador let out a loud growl of pain as he held his head with both hands while going down to his knees. "Arg...it hurts."
I wanted to hold him so I could know what was happening, but then I felt something stop me. I heard the crackling sounds of chains. I looked down, and I noticed both my legs were tied with silver chains. Bright stood in front of us with a smile.
"Aww, what a sweet coincidence, because I'll have two delicious meals that I'll offer to bring my daughter back after you have killed her, and when she's back, I'll make sure that no one in that pack of yours survives..." She paused as she laughed heartily like a maniac before she proceeded towards us, grabbed me by the shoulder, and started dragging me. For the first time in a long time, my wolf felt so helpless, almost like she was apologizing that she couldn't help me this time.
I noticed a man who had stood with her also laughed as he started dragging Salvador with him. We were then taken to a dark room; a foul smell lingered, and there were sizzling sounds of rodents patrolling the room.
I kept quiet, but I'm trying to analyze an escape route and a way I'll be able to kill Bright so that Denise can be saved. I don't want anything to happen to him.
'You have to try your best and see how you will be able to get us out of here, because I can feel myself leaving your body,' my wolf said, her voice almost sounding teary.
Bright walked up to me as she lifted my chin with her hand. Her gaze was intense as she stared me in the eyes, and then she said something that made me feel cold shivers run down my spine.
"I know you are doing this for your beloved mate Denise. Don't worry, I have already been informed of your arrival."
"You have been informed? By whom?"
"That's none of your business, young lady. What matters now is that you have been sent to your death, and in your next life, you will learn not to even trust a fly." She turned and walked away. She took a few steps towards Salvador, who was still gasping for air while slowly growling in pain. I saw life leaving him right in front of my eyes, and I felt helpless, more like I couldn't do anything, which made me feel even more furious with myself while wondering who could have set me up.
I saw my wolf completely leave my body. I struggled and stretched out my hand towards my wolf, almost calling out to him while hoping that he would be able to hear me out, but not a word. I felt an unknown ache that I had never felt before. I'm trying to calm my nerves down, but I can't help wondering what Bright planned to do with my wolf.
"No..." I screamed as I fell to the ground, feeling my body weaken.
I saw her, chained by someone who was floating in the air like a ghost, looking defeated; her radiant silver color emanated with so much power and glory. She dragged the wolf to another chamber. I outstretched my hand as I let out a painful cry, but it was useless. After all, I couldn't do anything other than see my wolf being taken away because I felt powerful from within.
I turned towards Salvador. I was almost shouting at him because it was all his fault; if he had controlled himself, we wouldn't have been in this mess, but when I saw his pitiable state, I kept my mouth shut. Tears slowly streamed down my cheeks; I could feel my throat parched, and my body went numb, looking confused.
Salvador, whose eyes were staring blankly into space, suddenly turned to me and said something quite outrageous in a situation like this, "I think you should kiss me, Margaret."
"I think you are now losing your mind, Salvador. Do you think it's time for all this shit?"
"Just kiss me."
To get things over with, despite the heavy chains, I managed to crawl to him so I could get a taste of his lips. He also did the same. My heart raced, and my body became weaker with every crawl I did. When we were eventually inches apart, I outstretched my neck, trying to get close to him so I could properly savor his lips, only for him to let out a scream, "No..."
"Wha..." My sentence was cut short when I felt a sharp pain in my back; my heart stopped beating for almost a second. My body felt weaker, and my brain stopped sending wave signals. Before I knew what was happening, I found myself on the ground while stretching out my hand towards Salvador, "Please, not Margaret..."
I tried to take deep breaths, but it was more like I was suffocating with each breath I took. Everything became clear the very moment Salvador broke the chains as he rushed towards me while crying. He was my mate, and I knew it. Even though my wolf was out of me, I still felt those strong emotions towards him.
I saw Bright standing in front of us with a pistol in hand. "You think you could outsmart me? "No one crosses my line and lives long enough to explain the tale," she let out before she turned and left. I could hear everything and also see what was happening, but I couldn't do anything. I was closing my eyes because they were becoming heavier with every second that ticked by. When I closed my eyes, I felt an unexplainable inner peace; now my chance of survival is low because my wolf is not here to save me. Salvador suddenly let go of me as he lunged at her, then the sound of a gunshot bolted me awake. Even though I was in pain, I saw Salvador's blood dripping from his shirt. Despite everything, he still lunged at her, ready to kill, only for her to pull the trigger again and again until he fell to the ground.
Then I saw Bright carry out some incantations; she was removing his wolf. I wanted to stretch my hand towards him, but it was like I was paralyzed; I couldn't do anything. The thing I felt was tears streaming down the corners of my eyes. Not until I saw Bright suddenly stop moving as she fell to the ground, her eyes bulging out, before she slowly went on her knees and then to the ground, and there I saw my mother standing with the dagger I had brought to kill Bright. It was smeared with blood, the blood of Bright.
"Mom..." I called out gently before finally accepting the darkness.
