Chapter Twenty Three

Chapter Twenty Three
Salvador Greene.
"priceless prince..." Those words jolted me awake, my heart pounding, body aching, and my throat parched. I noticed the room was dark as I briefly scanned my environment.
"Salvador..." Someone called out my name through the dark. I turned towards the door to see who it was, but the darkness made it impossible to do so.
"W… who's there?" I asked, my voice cracking, tears slipping, and body trembling.
"It's me, Greg."
"Greg..." I called out gently as I tried climbing down from the bed, only to feel that both limbs had been tied. Then the door creaks open, and I see his mother, Bright, walk forward, her smile evident as she wraps her hand on her chest. "Oh, poor thing, you should have left when you were allowed to do so. Now look at what you have just put yourself into."
"Don't you dare..." I said, my fist tightly clenched, I tried standing up, my body failed me, I felt another cold tear slowly find its way down my cheeks, and I was unable to explain the pain I was feeling at the moment.
"What do you want from me?" I asked.
She walks to me and stands beside me. "I want to use you the same way we have always been using Greg."
My eyes widened. "Greg is not your son?"
"Of course, he isn't; he's just a tool, but in your case, you are a more special tool." She said with a broad smile on her face, as she turned towards the door and told a young lady to come, I could see the hesitance in her, but the mischievous smile on her face was undeniable.
"Come, I have brought more blood for you to feed on."
Her face could be clearly seen because she was hidden in the dark, but as she approached the light, my mouth hung open when I saw a beautiful lady. Her radiant emerald green eyes stood out, but her pale skin made her slightly scary. She had disheveled hair and parched-dry lips. She walked up to me while I was still staring; without a word, she leaned closer to me and took a deep breath before she opened her mouth, which exposed sharp dirty fangs. I started wriggling on that bed, my heart pounding. "Please don't kill me; I have a family that needs me," I begged, and without further ado, the lady sank her fangs right into my exposed neck, drinking my blood like it was her best meal. I lost almost every drop of blood leaving my being, not until Bright pulled her away, her eyes daring. "You want to finish everything? Do you know what it means for us to have secured this priceless prince? Now come before you do anything drastic."
I saw the lady was still looking at me, her lips covered in blood as she shook violently in strong protest to having me even though she was being dragged.
I was barely breathing; my body was so weak until Bright arrived with a liquid in a small bottle and put a drop into my mouth. I swallowed the contents, and I was able to feel better.
Then she turned and left without saying a word. I turned towards Greg; my mouth hung open, wanting to say something, but my body was too weak to do so. I felt unable to explain the feeling, so I dozed off and slept it off.
"Please... Come back to us... please...." A familiar voice echoed. I wondered who it was. I tried listening closer, and that was when I realized that it was no one else but Denise. His voice clearly sounded like he was in pain. I was trying to act strong by reaching out to the door, but the voice was only going further away.
"Salvador..." Someone called out, loudly enough to jolt me awake. I frantically searched my environment, and that was when I saw Greg was still in the same position; his gaze was fixed on me as he said gently, "Please, I'm tired. Let's try and escape from this place."
'Leave...from…here..." I heard a voice within me; it was full of authority, a voice I never knew existed.
I clambered out of the bed, but my actions only proved futile; I could feel my body sweating and heart racing.
The pleading gaze of Greg made me feel slightly guilty as he said again, "I believe in what you can do. I know the potential within you. Please don't hide it; rather, I want you to show the world what you are capable of."
"I'm not what you think I am..." I almost pleaded, my voice cracking.
"And you didn't realize the reason why I allowed you to follow me here?" He laughed briefly as he continued, "Because I saw that you are my savior. You met me in a tree. I was trying to escape, but I knew I was still soulfully chained to this family, so I needed to find a way to come back and unchain myself."
I swallowed a lump down my throat, "And why didn't you tell me what was really going on?"
"I warned you, telling you whatever you might be running from might be better, but you insisted on coming with me, so what do you expect me to do? Should I have stopped you?"
I took a deep breath, realizing that he was right. But now is not the time to dwell on regrets, but the time to find a way to leave this place.
My heart was pounding so fast, many uncalled thoughts ran through my mind, and I felt so scared while trying to console myself that everything would be alright even though I am not so certain anymore.
I was trying to hold my breath; pain scorched through my entire being. I looked down only to realize that there was a slithering snake that had just bitten me.
"Fuck..." I cursed, unable to hold myself anymore. I'm trying to calm my nerves, but I can't fathom what was going on when I felt my vision blur and my body tremble. I suddenly felt my wolf take charge; my voice was hoarse, and pain scorched through my entire being, but I was too weak to fully transform due to the venom that was rapidly spreading. I saw the snake slither away while stretching my hand to get a hold of it, but I was unable to. Then the voice of Greg echoed, "I know that you can do it; don't give up, keep fighting, and do the right thing." I swallowed a lump down my throat; pain scorched through my entire being as I fell to the ground.
Then Bright walked in with a mischievous smile on her face, "And you think you were just about to escape."
Escape? How did she know? Many questions pondered. I then looked up at Greg, who had a look of pity in his eyes, but they were still hopeful. "Now..." He suddenly said so loudly.
I raised an eyebrow while wondering what he meant; that was when I felt my wolf growl so loudly within me, almost like he was following his command.
I don't know how I got the hidden strength within me as I stood up even though my body was screaming for me to remain on the ground due to the pain in every nerve of my body.
With each excruciating growl that I let out, I found myself transforming into a large, raging black wolf with a silver tail, and then suddenly I heard the trembling voice of Greg as he said gently while staring at me fascinatingly, "I have always known that you are special, but I never believed you to be the lost twins of the alpha king."
