Chapter Twenty Two

Chapter Twenty Two
Salvador Greene.
I gently turned towards his wife; she stared at me intently but kept quiet. My heart raced faster when she gestured to me. Inside the house, I saw Greg's father stop her by wrapping his hand around her wrist. I ignored them and walked inside, and that was when I heard him whisper incoherent words to her; his eyes were full of rage. Greg rather welcomed me to his room and showed me where I'll be sleeping, which made me grateful.
My heart raced, suddenly feeling like Denise was in danger, but I couldn't explain what she might be passing through at the moment. I swallowed a deep breath when I saw Greg's mother walk into the room with a dagger firmly held in her hand. She walked up to me, and without a word, she took my right hand into her palm and slit through it before pouring the bloody contents on the ground.
"As long as you shall live, anything you see in this house shall not be disclosed to anyone. I hope you get that?"
"Y... yes," I stuttered, wondering if it was some occult institution where nothing should be disclosed to the public.
She took a whiff of my scent and said, "You look familiar, but I can't recall where I have seen you before."
She dismissed my words and walked away. I walked towards Greg's room, where I found him reading a book, which baffled me as to why he was nonchalant about what his mother had just done.
He stopped reading when he noticed I had been standing in the same spot for a few minutes. He turned to look at me, looking unperturbed. "Why are you surprised? I warned you before coming here."
"But..."
"Now that's enough, Salvador, or whatever you call yourself. You wanted an accommodation; now that you have it, you are sounding surprised."
I opened my mouth to protest, but I knew it'd be of no use, so I kept quiet. We chatted for a while; I enjoyed the conversation, and we decided to play some games. We didn't know how many hours had already gone by, and that was when his mother walked in. Greg disclosed to me that her name was Martha.
She welcomed us to the dining room to have some food to eat, and I gladly climbed from the bed and went to the dining room because I was already starving.
I noticed a variety of food was already served, which made my stomach growl in hunger. While we sat at the dining table to eat, I noticed Greg was silent throughout the process, his eyes turning red, and fur was now growing on his skin, his fangs elongating, which made me feel scared, but I tried to remain calm even though every fiber of my body was screaming for me to run. I noticed both his parents were calm and collected, as if it were a normal routine. Both of them started eating the food, while Greg just sat down without touching his food.
I saw a beautiful maid walk into the room while holding a huge chunk of raw meat before placing it in front of Greg; immediately, his eyes darkened as he devoured the raw meat right in front of my eyes. My mouth hung open in horror, but not a word could be uttered.
"Am...I...the only one...seeing Greg like this?" I asked, my voice stuttering. But they ignored me, acting nonchalant to what I said, which baffled me even more. My heart raced, and many thoughts ran through my mind. I'm trying to act strong, but I failed, because Greg was getting scarier as every second ticked, so I immediately stood up. I was about to leave only for Greg's dad to hold my hand, his gaze piercing. Their eyes were cold and intense, and as he said with so much authority etched in his voice, "Sit…"
"But..."
"Don't make me repeat myself, young man; I said sit."
I swallowed a lump while wondering what I just got myself into. I quietly sat down while waiting for the worst to unfold, but to my surprise, both parents just continued eating their meals like nothing was happening. I felt my heart pounding so fast; many questions that needed answers kept pondering in my mind, but I didn't dare to ask any of them.
Suddenly I heard a voice calmly calling out to me. I searched to see who was calling out, but there was no one in sight. I came to realize that it was my wolf. I noticed Greg's father suddenly started checking his wristwatch, and after some time, he turned to his wife and said, "Is it time?" When he said those words, I was unable to hold it anymore as I stood up, ready to face whatever was approaching. I noticed the eyes of Greg's mother turned to something dangerous, something out of a horror movie; the urine that was filled up in my bladder found its way to my pants. I saw Greg's mother wrap his hand around Greg, who was almost completely full wolf, as he started dragging him to a secluded room. I noticed the room was dark as she unlocked the door.
Without a word, I started walking towards the door, placed my hand on the doorknob as I twisted it, but the door refused to budge.
"You can leave, young man; you have already taken the oath, so there is no going back."
I turned with a panic-stricken voice, "I only wanted shelter; my intention was not to be any intrusion to your ritual. Please let me."
"When your wrist was cut open, what were you expecting?" I took a deep breath when he asked that question. I felt tears slowly slipping down the corners of my eyes and my heart pounding, unable to hide the fear anymore, as I lunged at the old man, because even if I will be killed, at least let us die together.
The man dodged my assault, and I ended up falling at the edge of the room. I felt my bone crack due to the impact. He had a devious smile on his face as he took steady strides towards me. "You will be the next sacrifice..."
He smiled, leaning closer to me as he took a whiff of my scent. "Now I understand why my wife agreed for you to stay." He smiled widely, revealing all his teeth; his hair was growing longer and his fangs sharper. "I can't believe now my wife, Bright, was able to detect your faint scent; it's clear your real scent has been hidden."
I narrowed my gaze, my eyes narrowing, and my brows slightly raised because I was a bit confused about what he meant.
"Oh, confused? Don't be a young boy, because soon enough you will realize the power lurking within your blood."
Despite the pain I was feeling, I used the remaining strength left in me as I lunged at him, only to feel a sharp pain in my neck. I turned to see the source of the pain, and I saw his wife, Bright, had just pierced a syringe into my neck. Immediately my vision blurred, my heart pounded, and pain surged until I heard his last words, "Our priceless prince."
