20. Sneaking Out.

🎄Season Greetings🎄

[Emily]

"Who would put such a note under my desk." I frowned as I scrunched up the note and threw it into the wastebasket.

It was probably a prank I guessed but then I found it in a very strange place, if I'd found it inside my bag then it could've been someone from school but then no one from school had been to my room recently except Jenny and we did tease each other like that a lot but Jenny wouldn't have written a note, she would have just said that to my face.

Besides, what reason would she have had to write me such a note.

My phone dinged behind me and I reached out to check it, I just received a text from Ace and just like that the note was forgotten.

I chuckled shyly for a few seconds before I opened the text he had sent me.

Ace: Your parents will be home in a few minutes, hope you're okay.

That was all?

I was a bit disappointed but then I didn't even know what I was expecting from him and how I would've reacted to it.

Emily: Thank you, I'm okay.

I replied back and then dropped my phone and rushed into the bathroom. My father had a keen sense of smell and I didn't want him to smell either Ace's cologne or Jenny's perfume on me.

I had a quick rinse and then I changed into comfy clothes, a simple long gown and I packed my hair into a messy bun.

The doorbell rang just as I was done and I rushed down to open the door for my parents.

"My dear child, we're sorry we stayed out so long." My mother said and hugged me immediately as she entered the house.

"I'm sure you saw the note we left." My father touched my head as he entered and I smiled.

"I sure did."

I ate dinner, silently watching my parents and tuning out their conversation at the table. I could not get what Jenny said out of my mind.

Did I really want Ace?

Did I really want him to chase me?

I didn't have the answers to both questions and soon I found myself chewing on my spoon instead of eating any food.

Jenny would be coming soon and I'd have to lie to my parents for the first time ever and even sneak out to a late party without any parental supervision.

I couldn't even think about all the rules I was breaking and all the sins I was committing.

"Emilia, you haven't touched your food." My father frowned, he had been calling me for a while but I was too lost in thought to hear him.

"Is the food not to your liking?" My mother asked immediately and I shook my head.

"No, no, your food is always delicious, mama." I said hurriedly. "It's just that I have something to ask you."

"What is it, dear?" My mother asked in concern.

"Emilia, I hope it's not one of those thi—"

"Please let the girl speak, darling." My mother cut him off for the first time ever and I could not hide my shock and surprise.

My father kept quiet and he didn't even look surprised, he just chuckled and went back to eating his food.

"It's Jenny." I said and his head snapped back up.

"That friend of yours that got a makeover, she's the reason you've been saying you want one, isn't she?" My father frowned.

"What is it about, Jenny?" My mother sighed. "You know that we don't like you hanging out with her anymore."

"I know but I feel like I shouldn't leave her at this time." I blurted and they looked at me confused. "You see the thing is I feel like I should support her, I'm sure that I can eventually lead her back to the right part." I said and was proud of myself because my parents seemed to eat it up.

"I suppose it's always nice to do good and that friend of yours does need a good example to emulate." My father said and I tried hard not to smile.

"Yes, her parents let her do whatever she wants and that is not a good way to raise a child." My mother agreed.

"So can I go to her house for a sleep over tonight?" I asked.

"Tonight?" They looked at each other and back at me again.

"What?" I asked. "Is there something about tonight?"

"No, nothing, we just thought that it would take some time before you start helping her like that." My mother said,

"Besides, I'm not comfortable with you sleeping out of this house."

"Dad, she lives a few houses away, I'll be back first thing in the morning, I promise." I gave him my best puppy eyes until he sighed.

"I guess you're right." My mother said and my father nodded.

"First thing tomorrow morning okay and make sure you come here with that girl." My father said and I nodded.

"Now, eat your meal."

My father and I were clearing the table after our meal when the doorbell rang, my mother went to get it and it was no one else than Jenny.

"Good evening, Mrs Chesterfield, Mr Chesterfield." She greeted and rushed to grab the plates from my father's hands. "Let me help you with that."

I smiled as we walked into the kitchen and when we got there, I burst into a loud laughter.

"What was that?" I asked. "What is this?" I asked, pointing to the dress she had on.

Jenny was indeed my best friend and she'd proved it over and over again, even tonight, she was wearing a very long gown and her head was packed up neatly.

"I'm a good girl." She laughed.

"Good girl indeed."

"Have a nice sleepover." My parents waved me goodbye as Jenny and I left my house to hers.

I was wearing a decent gown but in my backpack was the black gown with the exposed back that we'd gotten at the mall.

"When are we going to the party?" I asked anxiously as we entered her room.

"Quiet, my parents don't know that." She shushed me.

"Wait, what if my parents call later, where am I going to find a quiet place to call them." I asked.

"You worry too much Emily, you'll be fine, just send them texts and pictures of the both of us on my bed and it'll be fine." She said and I went to work taking the photos.

We took a lot so I could send them to my mom till it was too late for them to come looking for me.

"Now, it's time to get ready." Jenny announced after I finished taking the pictures.

"I don't want anything too glamorous, no makeup and just a plain hairstyle." I said and she nodded.

"Okay, okay, just sit down already."

A few moments later, I stared at myself in the mirror and I could not believe my eyes.

"This is not not glamorous." I complained but I was still in awe.

"I look really pretty." I said and touched my face, I didn't know that I could look so nice.

"Yeah, and now that silly Olivia had nothing on you." She said and I laughed.

Maybe just one thing, confidence.

Jenny got ready in record time and then she arranged all her pillows on the bed and covered them with a blanket.

"You're sure they won't notice?" I asked as she adjusted the pillows.

"Girl this is not my first rodeo, of course they won't notice, they just come in to check if I'm asleep once it's twelve and once the lights are off, they'll turn back and head to their rooms." She said confidently.

"Okay, I'll guess we're doing this then." I shivered slightly as she opened her window and my palms started to sweat and get itchy.

I was really nervous because all this was new for me, I'd never snuck out to a party or anywhere before.

"Do you think Ace will be there?" I asked her nervously as a car pulled up in front of us when we got outside her house.

"Yes he will, now get in." She said and opened the door of the car.

"Who is this?" I asked her as she entered behind me.

"Don't worry, Emily, I called us a ride." She said and I nodded.

The ride to Olivia's house was short and my heart began to beat faster as we were dropped in front of her house.

"This house is a freaking mansion." I gasped as we walked in.

"Yep." Jenny answered dryly and we walked to the house.

A very nice man opened the door for.us and he smiled at us warmly as we entered the house. His only job was to open the doors and welcome people to the party.

"Emily, is this you?" A voice asked beside me and I froze.
