Chapter 881 Love

Chapter 881 Love

Time flew by, and before Rita knew it, she was already in her third year of college.

She was killing it in her studies, acing her classes, and still finding time to crank out hit songs.

While things were looking up for Rita, Evan, who had already graduated, was making waves at the Smith Group. He went from being the underdog to the top contender for the heir spot.

The competition for the Smith Group's heir was getting intense.

One day, Rita had just gotten back to her dorm after class when she got a text from Evan: [Got plans tonight?]

Evan had been super busy lately, and Rita hadn't seen him in days.

She quickly replied: [Nope. Even if I did, you'd still be my top priority.]

Evan shot back: [Come downstairs.]

Whenever Evan sent a message like that, it meant he was already waiting for her. Rita rushed to the window to check.

Sure enough, there he was, standing downstairs with a cigarette in hand.

Rita texted: [How many times have I told you to quit smoking?]

Evan looked up at her. She was on the eleventh floor, so they couldn't really see each other's faces, but she could tell he was smiling.

He stubbed out the cigarette and texted back: [Taking you out for dinner tonight.]

Rita grinned: [Sounds good.]

Just then, Zoey and Grace walked into the dorm. "Evan's waiting for you again. You two are so cute," Zoey said.

Rita laughed. "Your boyfriends treat you well too. No need to be jealous."

Zoey teased, "When are you two getting hitched? I can't wait for the wedding."

Rita replied, "Right after I graduate."

Grace chimed in, "We all thought Evan was this tough guy, but he's actually so sweet. You're really lucky, Rita."

Rita never downplayed it when people praised Evan. To her, he was the best. "He really is amazing. I'm so lucky to have him."

Grace added, "You better keep an eye on him. A guy like that will have plenty of women after him. Don't let anyone else swoop in."

Rita said confidently, "He's not that kind of guy."

Zoey nodded, "Still, better safe than sorry."

Just then, Rita's phone buzzed. She thought it was Evan telling her to hurry up.

But it was a message from someone in the Grey family. She swiped it away without reading it. "Zoey, Grace, I'm heading down. Don't want to keep Evan waiting."

Zoey and Grace said in unison, "When has Evan ever rushed you? Remember your twentieth birthday? We took forever to get you ready, and he waited downstairs for two hours without a single complaint. Anyone else would've lost it, but not Evan."

Rita smiled, "Even if he doesn't rush me, I feel bad making him wait in the cold."

With that, she dashed out the door.

Zoey sighed, "So sweet."

Rita hurried downstairs, and as soon as she reached Evan, he grabbed her hand tightly.

Winter in Girona was freezing, and Rita's hands were always like ice. But ever since she started dating Evan, her hands had never been cold.

He always had a bunch of warm gloves ready for her, and when they were together, his big hands were the best heaters.

Evan tightened his grip and said, "Let's go see a doctor."

Rita panicked and tugged at his clothes, asking, "What's wrong with you?"

Evan grabbed her fidgety hand and replied, "Other girls' hands aren't as cold as yours. This isn't normal, so I want to take you to see a doctor."

Even though he was just worried, Rita zeroed in on something else. "Evan, have you held other girls' hands?"

Evan was taken aback, "When did I ever hold another girl's hand?"

Rita snapped, "If you haven't, how do you know their hands are warm?"

So that's why she was mad.

Evan was both amused and a bit exasperated, but seeing her jealous made him happy. "You only get feisty with me."

Rita insisted, "Answer my question. Don't dodge it."

Evan pulled her into his arms and wrapped her in his coat. "Because I asked a doctor, and that's what they told me."

Rita snuggled into his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat, and gently rubbed against him. "Don't lie to me."

Evan lowered his head, kissed her forehead, then found her lips and kissed them. "I won't hold any girl's hand except yours," he said.

Rita said softly, "Me too." She blushed, her voice barely a whisper.

But Evan heard it loud and clear, and his heart warmed. "You too what?"

Rita said, "I'm hungry."

This usually worked on Evan, but today he wasn't letting it slide. "Say it, you too what?"

Rita's face turned even redder. "You know what I mean."

Evan said, "But I want to hear you say it."

Rita finally said, "I won't hold any boy's hand except yours."

Evan was thrilled with her answer. He picked her up excitedly.

Rita was startled, "We're still at school, don't mess around."

Evan teased, "So it's okay to mess around if we're not at school?"

Rita opened her mouth, but before she could say anything, Evan whispered in her ear, "I wish you could graduate tomorrow."

Rita murmured, "There's still more than a year to go."

Evan's voice was husky. "Rita, I can't wait anymore."

He held her waist tightly. Even though they were both bundled up, Rita could still feel his desire.

"Let's go to your place tonight." She was actually agreeing.

On her twentieth birthday, things had naturally heated up between them as they kissed. But at the critical moment, a small accident had happened, so they hadn't gone all the way.

Evan asked, "What?"

Rita realized her boldness and blushed deeply, her face burning.

She quickly changed the subject, "Evan, I'm really hungry."

Evan, feeling sorry for her, naturally wouldn't mess around when she was hungry. "Let's go eat first," he said.

However, just as they got into the car, Rita's phone rang.

Seeing it was a call from the Grey family, Rita frowned and hesitated to answer. At the same time, Evan's phone rang too.

Evan glanced at her and then answered his phone.

Rita couldn't hear what the person on the other end was saying, but she saw Evan's face grow increasingly grim.
