Chapter 129
Chapter 129
Autumn's POV
"I have no idea what you're talking about. Stop trying to frame me with other things that happen to you. Who knows how many enemies you have? So many people want to kill you! You think I'm the only one who hates you?" Agatha fired at me.
I knew she was going to say something like this to save herself from the fact that she just slipped up in front of me, but it's okay. I'm not here to argue with her over who's right or who is totally wrong. She's going to surrender anyway when the truth is finally out, and I'm not going to forgive her at all.
"Agatha, you had an opportunity to change for the better, but you never changed. You can keep denying it all you want. It's not going to be long before everything comes to light. I promise you, you're going to regret everything you've done so far." I waited for her to say something, but she couldn't, so I walked away.
I wasn't going to stand there and listen to all the nonsense she kept talking about. I had other things to do, which was going to see Gina at the hospital. I went to the kitchen to make some food for her. Then I quickly packed it up and rushed to the hospital. I didn't wait for Adonis because he might want to force me into his car again.
I managed to get out with a cab that was waiting for me. When I got to the hospital, I gave Knox, who I met at the door, the food to give to Dante. I'm sure he's going to be okay now and he can leave the hospital, while I went to the other side to give Gina her food.
George was there in the room when I entered, and they were happy to see me. "Autumn, you're finally here. I was waiting for you all morning. I didn't even know when you left," she said, waving at me. I dropped the cooler on the table.
"Sorry I left without telling you. I didn't want to wake you up. I went to change and bring you something to eat," I said.
"Good morning to you, George," I said. He smiled at me. "How are you doing, Autumn? Are you okay? It was quite a scare yesterday. I hope you didn't feel worried."
I shook my head no. "On the contrary, I'm actually grateful for everything you did for me. And I also wanted to ask if you're okay."
I was referring to what Adonis did to him yesterday. It was so embarrassing and annoying at the same time. I can't believe I had to go through all of that just to stop him from being a jerk.
He nodded his head in agreement. "I'm fine. You don't have to worry about me. And definitely you don't have to apologize for what other people did."
I turned to Gina, showing her the food I brought. "I made this for you. It's light and good enough. I don't really cook that much since I had an eating disorder, but I think it's getting better these days, so I can eat and cook more," I said to her.
She nodded. "I'm so sorry you had to do all of this for me."
"Stop apologizing. You saved my life."
She smiled at me. "It feels so good to have a friend like you."
After she was done eating, I packed up everything and looked at the time. It was time for me to have classes and I couldn't stay with her any longer.
"I have to go now because I have classes, but I'll come to check on you as soon as possible," I told her.
"You don't need to worry about that. I'll be here waiting for you," she said with a smile.
I could see George wanted to say something, but he didn't. Gina was busy giving him signals to say what was on his mind, but he wasn't saying it, and I felt like he was probably shy or something. I didn't want to make him uncomfortable either, so I didn't ask.
"So I'm going to leave now. See you around, George," I said to him.
But Gina stopped me. "My brother is going to escort you to the lecture hall."
I looked at him and back at her. "I don't think you need to do that. I can go on my own. I haven't seen them, so I guess they are not going to attack today."
I probably felt shy as she mentioned that her brother wanted to escort me which was the reason I was blabbering to her. I didn't mean to make it sound like I didn't want him to follow me, though. He looked very disappointed that I said that.
"But if you want to follow me, you can," I told him, changing up my words. "I don't mind having company on my way back to the school. I just thought you might be busy."
He immediately shook his head. "I'm not busy at all, and accompanying you is my honor."
I smiled at him and waved to Gina before leaving the room. We were walking side by side without saying anything for a while. It was an awkward silence. As we went, we passed Dante's room, and I'm very sure they might have seen us passing by, but it's surprising that none of them are coming to bother him. Is it because of what I said yesterday? They're finally getting to know their places.
"So... are you going to be busy this weekend?" he asked me.
I shook my head. "Not really. I do have some projects to do in school, but it's not going to disrupt my weekend. Why do you ask?"
"I was thinking of inviting you to our annual pack moon festival. It's going to be happening soon, and I wanted to invite you exclusively in case you might not want to come given your history with our pack," he explained.
He was indeed right about my not wanting to go to his pack because of what I experienced in the past. I already told Gina I wouldn't be able to come, but hearing about something like this made me feel excited. I haven't had an opportunity to enjoy a lot of festivities in a while, and it's not going to hurt to go to this one.
I think he regretted that he said that to me immediately, as he started apologizing. "Sorry for saying that. I shouldn't have mentioned it given your trauma."
"No, it's okay. Actually, I'm going to come. But are you having the festival this weekend? How come no one has heard of it?"
"We're not having it this weekend, but I just wanted to prepare you for it. It's going to happen in a week. A lot of things happen in this kind of festival and we need to be careful in case of enemies, but you have nothing to worry about," he assured me.
I smiled. "Then I'm going to look forward to it. I think I can go from there now. Thanks for following me here."
"Thanks for accepting my invitation. I promise you won't regret it. I'll see you later then," he said, moving back and waving at me.
I watched him leave and then went for my lectures. It was a hectic day for me and I thought I would be able to go to the hospital on time, but I ended up being caught in a lot of projects.
That's good enough since I'm going to need all of this if I want to graduate well from college. I didn't get to have all this problem in my past life as I only focused on pleasing some people. Now that I have a good life, I can't miss it at all.
I went to see Gina at the hospital and was told he would be released in a few days, which was good news for me. I also checked on Dante, but he already went home; the doctor told me he was released.
When I got home, I found out he was already home and he and his brothers were busy discussing in the study. I didn't want to disturb their conversation, so I left.
I was so tired that I went to sleep immediately, but I didn't sleep for long before I got lost in a nightmare that looked so real. Maybe because the nightmare was my reality in the past.
