Chapter 141 Chapter 141

Greer's POV

I woke up slowly, my head throbbing with a dull, persistent pain. The world around me was dark, damp, and cold. My wrists and ankles felt heavy, restrained by thick metal chains. A blindfold covered my eyes tightly. Panic surged through me like ice water as fragmented memories flooded back: the Royal Business Ball, the humiliating projection on the screen, running desperately through the dark hallway, the strong hand wrapping around my neck, the sweet chemical smell on the handkerchief pressed to my face.

I had been kidnapped.

Terror gripped me so fiercely I could barely breathe. I struggled weakly against the chains, my heart pounding. The baby. Our baby. Was it okay? The thought of anything happening to the little life growing inside me made fresh tears slip from under the blindfold.

Footsteps approached. Slow, deliberate. Someone knelt in front of me. The blindfold was gently removed.

The last face I expected to see was Wells.

He sat calmly on a metal chair directly in front of me, his expression soft and almost tender. Not angry. Not violent. Just eerily calm, like he had been waiting patiently for me to wake up.

“Wells?” I whispered, my voice hoarse and trembling. “What… what are you doing? Let me go! Please!”

He didn’t move. He simply watched me with that peaceful, almost loving look. “Everything spiraled out of control,” he said quietly, his voice steady. “I never wanted it to go this far. But I couldn’t stop it either.”

He began to confess everything, his words flowing like he had been holding them in for years.

He admitted he had been obsessed with me for six years, since the very first time we met. I was the only real thing in his cold, calculated family world. While his father built empires and Veda chased status and power, I felt genuine to him. Pure. He had encouraged Calder’s marriage to Veda years ago, planning it perfectly, not out of love for Veda, but because it kept me close to the family. He had manipulated situations for years to isolate me, quietly sabotaging friendships and spreading subtle rumors so I would only have him to turn to.

“I had real feelings for you, Greer,” he said softly, his eyes never leaving mine. “Possessive feelings. You were the one thing that made me happy. The one thing that wasn’t staged or calculated. I stopped anyone from getting too close to you. I fed your feelings for me… but when Father grew distant and closer to you, I felt like I was losing you completely.”

He even revealed something that made my blood run cold. “That sudden twenty-five million dollars in your account? Who do you think sent it? It was me. A gift. Just so you would love me back. I wanted you to see that I could take care of you better than anyone else.”

I stared at him in horror, my chains rattling as I instinctively pulled back. “You’re insane,” I whispered, tears falling freely. “Wells, this is madness. Let me go. Please. This isn’t love. This is an obsession.”

He smiled sadly, tilting his head. “Why didn’t I come to you directly? Because you were in love with my father. I saw it in your eyes. I couldn’t stand it. So I had to take you this way. To make you see that I’m the one who truly cares. The one who has always been here for you.”

I felt sick to my stomach. The man I had once looked up to as a stepbrother had been harboring this dangerous, twisted obsession for years. He had no control around the one thing that made him happy.

And now I was chained in an abandoned building, pregnant with his father’s child, completely at his mercy.

Wells suddenly moved closer to me, his eyes darkening with that possessive hunger I had never seen in him before. His hand reached out slowly, almost reverently, touching my skin. First my cheek, his fingers tracing the tear tracks on my face. Then down to my lips, brushing them gently with his thumb. I flinched violently, trying to pull away, but the heavy chains around my wrists and ankles held me firmly in place. His touch continued downward, over my neck, lingering on my collarbone, then moving lower toward my chest, clearly intending to touch my breasts.

“Stop!” I screamed, my voice raw and desperate, echoing loudly in the abandoned building. “Leave me alone! Don’t touch me, Wells! Please!”

He didn’t stop immediately. His fingers lingered on my skin, his breath quickening as he leaned in even closer. Then he tried to kiss me, his face moving toward mine. I turned my head sharply to the side, moving my mouth away from his as far as the chains would allow.

“You can’t do this!” I cried out, my voice breaking with terror. “You can’t sleep with me, Wells. I’m pregnant with your father’s child. Please… stop it. I’m begging you. Don’t do this.”

He froze completely. For a long, terrifying moment, he stared at me, his expression shifting from dark desire to shock, then to pure, explosive anger. He pulled back suddenly, standing up so fast his chair scraped loudly against the concrete floor.

“Why him?!” he shouted, his voice filled with raw pain and rage. “Why my father? I’ve loved you for years! I did everything for you! I protected you. I gave you money. I kept you close. And you let him touch you? You’re carrying his child?!”

He lost control completely. He began breaking things around him in a violent outburst — kicking over a rusted metal chair so hard it slammed against the wall, smashing an old lamp against the concrete floor, throwing anything he could reach. Glass shattered. Metal clanged. His shouts echoed through the empty, abandoned building like thunder.

I shrank back in my chair as much as the chains allowed, trembling violently, tears streaming down my face. My heart pounded with fear not just for myself, but for the baby growing inside me. Every crash and shout made me flinch. The chains rattled with my movements. I stayed silent, too terrified to say anything more, praying he wouldn’t turn his anger on me or the child.

Wells paced furiously back and forth, running his hands through his hair repeatedly, his breathing ragged and heavy. “You were supposed to be mine!” he yelled, kicking another object across the room. “I planned everything! The marriage, keeping you close, giving you that money so you’d see I could take care of you better than anyone. And you chose him? My own father?”

His outburst continued for several long, terrifying minutes. He destroyed whatever he could find in the dimly lit space — old boxes, broken furniture, anything within reach. The sounds of destruction filled the air, making the abandoned building feel even more like a prison.

I remained chained to the chair, crying silently, my body shaking with fear. The royal blue dress I had worn to the ball was now dirty and torn. My silver heels were long gone. All I could do was wait and pray that this nightmare would end without hurting the innocent life inside me.

Wells finally stopped, breathing heavily, his hands clenched into fists. He turned back to me, his eyes still wild with anger and obsession.

“You’re mine, Greer,” he said, his voice lower now but no less dangerous. “You’ve always been mine. And I’m not letting you go.”
