Chapter 140 Chapter 140
Chapter 140 Chapter 140
Calder's POV
I stormed through the city like a man possessed, my blood boiling with a rage I had never known before. The Royal Business Ball had turned into a nightmare, and Greer was gone. Taken. The love of my life, the mother of my unborn child, had been snatched away in the middle of her greatest moment. I had searched everywhere; the Grand Royal Hall, the surrounding streets, her new flagship store, my house, Cassey’s new place. Nothing. No trace. The police were now fully involved, but every second without her felt like torture.
My security team had been working nonstop, pulling every camera feed, tracking every lead. But I knew exactly where to go next.
Veda’s penthouse.
I didn’t knock. I kicked the door open with such force that it slammed against the wall. The scene inside made my blood run even hotter. Veda and Indira were lounging on the expensive couch, glasses of champagne in their hands, laughing and cheering like they had just won the lottery.
“To finally ruining that little bitch’s life,” Veda toasted, clinking her glass against Indira’s. “She thought she could steal my husband and my spotlight? Pathetic.”
Indira laughed loudly. “The look on her face when the projector changed… priceless. And that pregnancy reveal? She’ll never recover from this humiliation.”
I rushed forward without thinking, grabbing Veda by the neck with one powerful hand. I squeezed tightly, lifting her slightly off the couch as she gasped and choked, her champagne glass falling and shattering on the floor.
“Where is she?!” I roared, my voice filled with pure fury. “Where the fuck is Greer?! Tell me right now or I swear I’ll end you here!”
Veda’s eyes bulged with fear and shock. She clawed at my wrist, struggling to breathe. Indira jumped up immediately, trying to pull me off.
“Get your hands off her!” Indira screamed, laughing maniacally even as she fought me. “Finally, the whole world knows your dirty secret! You’ve been fucking your own stepdaughter! How does it feel now that everyone knows what a perverted man you are?”
I tightened my grip on Veda’s neck for a few more seconds, watching her face turn red. “Tell me where she is!” I yelled again. “I know you did this. The projector, the photos, the kidnapping... it was all you two!”
Veda struggled desperately, coughing and gasping. “I… I don’t know!” she choked out. “I swear… I don’t know where she is!”
Indira kept pulling at my arm. “Let her go or I’ll call the police right now!”
I reluctantly released Veda’s neck. She collapsed back onto the couch, coughing violently, her hands clutching her throat. After a few moments, she started laughing; a hoarse, unhinged laugh that sent chills down my spine.
“You think you can intimidate me?” she rasped, still laughing. “My life is already over because of that girl. I hope whoever kidnapped her kills her successfully. I’ve been trying to do it for so long and kept failing. The hit-and-run, the break-in, the fire at Cassey’s house, all me. Her success infuriated me. She stole my spotlight. I was supposed to be the successful one. The powerful one. Not her. Never her.”
I stared at her for a long moment, disbelief and disgust washing over me. “What kind of mother are you?” I asked, my voice low and cold. “You tried to murder your own daughter? Multiple times? You burned down an innocent woman’s house just to get to her? You’re a monster, Veda.”
They didn’t know I had been recording the entire conversation on my phone, tucked discreetly in my pocket. Every word. Every confession.
Indira stepped forward, her face twisted with hatred. “And I was the one who framed Greer for the fraud at your company. The missing money? All me. I made sure it looked like she did it. She deserved it for taking everything from me.”
I finally pulled out my phone and showed them the recording. “I got all of it. Every single word.”
Fear gripped both of them instantly. Their faces paled. Veda lunged at me, trying to grab the phone, while Indira attacked from the side. But I was stronger. Much stronger. I pushed them both away easily, my body fueled by pure rage and adrenaline.
The police arrived moments later, responding to a silent alarm my security had triggered. I handed over the recording immediately. The officers listened to the confessions; the assassination attempts, the fire, the framing, the kidnapping plot. Veda and Indira were arrested on the spot.
Within minutes, I ordered one of my men to leak the full recording online. It spread like wildfire. All focus shifted from Greer to Veda and Indira. Their lives were ruined overnight. Indira’s business crumbled completely, sponsors and partners dropping her instantly. Veda’s carefully built image as the elegant socialite was destroyed. The elite world she worshipped turned against her completely.
As they were dragged away in handcuffs, I stepped close and warned them in a low, deadly voice, “If anything bad happens to Greer.... if she or our baby is hurt in any way.... I will kill both of you. Slowly. Personally.”
Fear gripped them visibly. For the first time, they looked truly terrified.
I would find Greer.
And I would make sure those responsible paid with everything they had.
.
Three agonizing days had passed since Greer was taken from the Royal Business Ball. Three days of hell. I hadn’t slept more than a few hours. I barely ate. The search consumed every waking moment. My private team, the police, and every contact I had were working around the clock, but the kidnappers were ghosts — professionals who knew how to cover their tracks. Every dead end felt like another knife in my chest.
I was in my home office, staring at maps and security feeds, when my phone rang with an unknown number. I answered instantly, putting it on speaker.
A video call connected.
The screen showed Greer.
She was chained to a metal chair in a dark, damp-looking room. Her royal blue dress was torn and dirty, her makeup streaked with tears. She struggled weakly against the heavy chains around her wrists and ankles, her face pale and exhausted.
“Greer…” I called out, my voice low. But it seems she can’t hear me. “Hang in there, I am coming to save you….”
Cassey, who had been sitting with me, let out a heart-wrenching scream. Tears poured down her face as she covered her mouth. “Greer! Oh my God, no! Greer!”
The camera stayed focused only on Greer. The culprit didn’t show their face. No voice. No demands. Just the painful image of the woman I loved, broken and terrified, begging for help.
Then the video call disconnected abruptly.
I almost ran mad.
Rage and fear exploded through me like a bomb. I roared, slamming my fist on the desk so hard it cracked. “Find her! Now! Trace that call!”
My men sprang into action immediately, their fingers flying across multiple keyboards. “We’re tracing the IP address, sir,” one of them said urgently. “It’s bouncing through servers, but we’re close. Give us a few minutes.”
I paced the room like a caged animal, my hands shaking with barely contained violence. The image of Greer chained and crying burned into my mind. She was pregnant with our child. Scared. Alone. And someone was torturing her psychologically.
Cassey was still crying, rocking herself on the couch. “She looked so scared… What if they hurt her? Or the baby?”
I couldn’t comfort her. My mind was consumed with revenge and desperation. Whoever had taken her — Veda, Indira, or someone working with them — would pay with their lives if anything happened to Greer or our child.
“We have a location!” one of my men shouted. “It’s an old warehouse on the outskirts. The signal was routed, but we pinned it.”
I grabbed my coat. “We’re going now. Call the police. Tell them to meet us there.”
As I headed for the door, my heart pounded with a mixture of hope and terror. I was coming for her.
Hold on, Greer. I’m coming.
