Chapter 808 Molly’s Marriage
Chapter 808 Molly’s Marriage
Debra's harsh mockery drained all color from Molly's face, and her frail body trembled even harder.
She immediately squeezed her eyes shut, squeezing the little bear until it lost its shape.
Only this way could she force herself not to recall those terrible memories.
"Can't become part of the Clark family? Well, you can turn around and be Mario's daughter-in-law instead. Congratulations in advance."
Debra flipped her hair, putting on that flirty act she learned from Tiffany again. "Though I don't have a wedding gift for you."
"Say one more word and I'll make sure your right ear goes completely deaf." Edward's sharp brows flashed with violence, his deep eyes wrapped in crimson fury.
"I can't even tell the truth now? She's about to marry into the Bishop family, and getting angry at me won't change that!"
The man approached her like a fierce tiger, step by step.
"Ahh! Help! Dad! Save me! Edward's going to kill someone!" Debra simply threw a tantrum, screaming at the top of her lungs.
"Enough! What's all this noise about?"
Patrick stood halfway up the stairs, glaring angrily at the two confronting each other, his voice sharp and stern.
"Dad! Edward's trying to hit me again... All he knows is hitting women!"
Debra cried with her mouth wide open. "He might as well just kill me!"
"That's enough!"
Patrick frowned tightly, finding it all too grating. "Carl, take her to the airport right now!"
"Yes, sir."
Carl looked coldly at Debra. "Please."
Debra gritted her teeth viciously, struggling to drag her heavy suitcase toward the door.
Patrick felt a bit sorry for her after all, and said with a stern face, "Help her carry it."
"Yes." Carl had no choice but to obey, picking up the suitcase and walking out.
"Thank you, Dad! Goodbye, Dad!" Debra put on a pitiful act to say goodbye to Patrick, but held onto a thread of hope in her heart.
Her father always left some room for her.
She would definitely come back!
After Debra left, Edward forcefully suppressed the surging blood in his chest and walked coldly toward Patrick:
"Debra just said the Bishop family came to propose marriage to you. Is this true?"
Patrick looked down at him. "Of course."
The man's brows pressed together. "Mario's son wants to marry Molly? You agreed?"
"They're a good match, and the Bishop family has quite a reputation in politics. I've met Mr. Mario too—handsome and upstanding. Ha, he's far better than Eric."
Patrick's thin lips, identical to Edward's, curved up sharply with a challenging tone. "At the very least, Mr. Mario doesn't have a playboy reputation, doesn't treat women as playthings. The Mayor Mario couple doesn't mind Molly's condition either and is willing to accept her as their daughter-in-law.
Tell me, why wouldn't I agree to such excellent in-laws?"
Molly hid silently behind Edward, burying her pale face covered in fine sweat, her reddened eyes gradually swelling with soreness.
At school, Austin indeed didn't hit or curse at her like Jessica did.
But the psychological shadow he left her with was even more devastating than those physical torments!
She still remembered that every time Jessica's little gang bullied her, Austin would always be on lookout nearby, or else he'd be secretly showing that weird, ambiguous snicker.
The summer of eighth grade, the school had just handed out brand new summer uniforms.
Just because Jessica was jealous that she looked prettier in it than herself, she dragged her into the sports equipment room and poured all the dirty water from cleaning the classroom on her!
After ruining her new uniform, Jessica left satisfied.
She curled up in a dusty corner, shivering with cold despite the peak of summer.
That's when Austin, who had been silent the whole time, walked up to her, took off his uniform jacket, squatted down, and draped it over her shoulders.
Just as she was about to say "thank you," she realized he was staring straight at her soaked chest.
The soft, small breasts of the newly developing girl were faintly visible, even her white bra clearly showing!
In her panic, she let out a weak scream, her trembling arms hugging her chest!
—"Molly, let me touch it, okay? Just once. No one will know."
The boy spoke vulgar words in a sincere tone, like the whisper of a demon's child.
Recalling it now still made Molly feel as if she'd fallen into an icy cave, chills spreading through her entire body.
"I know why you're in such a hurry to marry Molly off."
Edward's knuckles turned white as he clenched his fists. "You're angry, and you can take it out on me. But as a parent, you can't use your daughter's lifelong happiness to satisfy a moment of spite!"
"Edward, you've learned from Evelyn how to insult people in roundabout ways? You're judging a gentleman's heart with a petty person's mind!"
Patrick angrily pointed at his face. "Molly is my daughter—would I harm her? All my choices are for her sake!"
Edward laughed coldly without hesitation. "You're thinking of your own future, aren't you? A marriage alliance with the Bishop family benefits the Wellington Group and you."
The air froze, dropping to ice-cold.
Patrick's face turned from red to white. His son had torn off his fig leaf to his face—this was pouring hot oil on his anger!
So he became even more furious: "That's still better than the person you found for Molly!"
Molly closed her eyes tightly with tears.
"Now, all of Mugden knows about Molly and Eric. My daughter has been bullied enough by them already, and now she has to be the subject of gossip, pointed at whenever she goes out. This is the great match you arranged for Molly, this is what your good brother's family has done!"
Edward's handsome face was icy. He knew Patrick would definitely seize on this point to attack him harshly.
Eric and Molly loved each other deeply—he wasn't wrong, he was innocent.
But the sins committed by the Clark Group couldn't be erased or argued away!
"Sending my own daughter, your most vulnerable sister, into the Clark Group's den of tigers, and before she even married in, she was schemed against and humiliated! Is your sister that lowly? What's wrong with a marriage alliance with the Bishop family? It doesn't shortchange her at all!
At least Mario Corp is full of dignitaries, not like the Clark Group—top to bottom, a family of thugs. Maurice came from the streets—what good could he possibly raise? I think Eric takes after his grandfather—inherited bad roots in the bloodline!" Patrick was so angry he said whatever came to mind.
"Dad! Enough... Please stop talking about Eric!"
Molly couldn't bear it anymore, tears spilling from her eyes. "Eric... he's always been good to me, he never wronged me!
We've already broken up, I'm not with him anymore. Please stop saying such things about him!"
"Molly..." Edward's heart stung painfully, leaving him speechless.
Molly and Eric had gone through so much to finally be together, and just when they were about to succeed, everything returned to square one.
Why did God toy with this couple like this?
What did they do wrong?
Seeing his usually obedient daughter defy him like this, Patrick's face paled at first.
But hearing that she'd broken up with Eric, his expression softened, and he said patiently, "Breaking up is good. That kind of womanizer, his affection in front of you is all an act—he can't keep it up forever.
Now that you've broken up, there's nothing to regret. From now on, follow my arrangements, and your life will truly be happy."
"I absolutely won't agree to Molly marrying that guy!"
Edward's eyes were engulfed in crimson fury. "He's got something going on with Jessica—he's not necessarily any good either.
You keep saying the Clark Group is a den of tigers, so is the Bishop family heaven on earth? You're just using Molly as a tool for profit!"
