Chapter 90 HE HAS WON
Outside, Ixora sat in Drexton's car, biting her nails occasionally. She got the text Joanna sent saying she's ready to tell the truth.
She had insisted on following Drexton, and knowing they needed privacy, she decided to wait in his car.
She thought nothing would happen. They might lash out if they find out the truth. That's the thing. What she didn't expect was to see Blake and Audrey coming to Joanna's house.
Their expression was serious, like they had found out something. She tried stopping Blake, but he didn't stop. He walked past her, something that had never happened before.
Luckily for her, Audrey stopped, and when she asked, she realized that they had found out the truth.
The first thing that crossed her mind was Drexton and Blake in the same room. Their first meeting was bad, and she's sure Blake might do something crazy. He doesn't like Drexton.
She followed Audrey in, and her greatest fears came through.
Jaxon, Maddox, and Drexton's eyes were on Blake, who had just said the word 'mom.
Blake's gaze wasn't soft either, his eyes were glaring red at Joanna and then at the guys.
"Wow," he said, clapping his hand at Joanna. "You amaze me."
"What is he saying?" Jaxon muttered, taking his eyes off Blake.
Before Joanna could reply, Blake beat her to it.
"I will tell you what I am saying. The woman who was professing how genuinely she loves you is my mother."
Joanna stretched out her trembling hand, wanting to touch Blake.
Audrey held her hand. "Don't you dare touch my brother," she said, her eyes red.
"So, you lied to us?" Maddox said, as if picking his words one by one.
She rushed to Drexton.
"I was going to tell you. I didn't mean for you to find out like this. I was about to say it. You have to trust me," she cried.
"Trust?" Drexton asked.
Joanna nodded repeatedly.
Blake clapped his hands and walked towards them.
"You abandoned your kids when we were barely six years old," he said, his tears falling freely. "Not only that, you deceived us. Do you know what happened to the man you left to care for us?"
"He died that same day," Audrey cried and walked to them. "And aunt..." she sniffled. "She sent us to the orphanage home. We grew up in a poor orphanage home where we had to eat once a day, all because of our mother, who's nothing but a coward."
Joanna rushed to Audrey. "Please don't say that. I came back to take you guys with me. I promise, I did come back."
"And what does that change!" Audrey yelled. "That you didn't abandon us, or that you lied to us. I don't even know the one that hurts the most."
Ixora was crying as well. The truth has been revealed, and if they found out she knew and kept quiet, then-
Why did it have to come out this way?
"You know what, mum, I wouldn't have been this mad at you if you took care of other kids, but Drexton. Why does it always have to be Drexton? Tell me, why?!"
"Don't cross your limit," Jaxon warned.
"And why should I not?!" Blake snapped, taking his focus to Drexton. "He has won. A winner. He stole everything from me, everything I've ever wanted. First, he stole my mother, and then, he stole the girl I've loved for almost my whole life. He's not the one with the pitiful story; he's the thief who seeks attention."
"Blake, please don't say that," Ixora muttered from where she stood.
"Why?" Blake replied, crying, his eyes still on Drexton. "The truth is bitter after all. The day I punched him, and he didn't react, I thought he was only trying to play cool. Who would have thought he loves using people's weaknesses against them? He knew I loved you and that's why he snatched you away from me, just like he did to my mother."
Joanna held his hand. "You know nothing about Drexton." She tried to calm him.
Blake jerked his hands away. "Of course. I know nothing about him, but I do know well enough why his parents left him. He's a cursed child after all. No one would be proud of him. His father-" he paused, giving out an insincere teary smile.
"His father abandoned him when he was still in the stomach, and his mother... dumped him to die for another man. His parents failed, that's why-"
Slap.
His face turned to the other side.
Ixora, Audrey and Joanna gasped as they stared at Drexton in shock.
Drexton had just given Blake a backhand slap.
His eyes had turned dark, as the devil appeared in his eyes.
He shifted his gaze to Joanna and gave her a long stare, capable of sending her six feet.
Drexton, who's used to staying calm no matter the situation, just acted violently.
He raised his hand to somebody, enough reason to know Blake had crossed his limit.
Ixora said no word, as none formed in her mouth. She couldn't get over the shock. She hadn't seen Drexton that way before.
Drexton brought down his hand and walked away without saying a word.
Maddox and Jaxon weren't left out. They gave Joanna the long stare of disappointment and left.
"You shouldn't have said that," Ixora muttered and left as well, going in search of Drexton.
"You wouldn't say a thing, right? Your favorite son hit your real son," Audrey said, holding Blake.
"Please, give me a chance to explain," Joanna pleaded, falling on her knees.
"You had the chance fourteen years ago, but you chose to lie to us instead. Now, you've lost that chance. Let's go." They both went to the door, but before they could leave, Audrey stopped.
Without facing her, she said. "One more thing, you can keep stalking us like the coward you are. Suites you best, and for forgiving you, Blake might, since he's soft, but I will never forgive you. I'd rather die than see you as my mother. That's my promise to you." Her voice was icy cold, which meant there was no hint of a joke in her voice.
They left, and Joanna wailed on the floor, regretting ever attempting to tell them the truth.
"It's over, everything. They all hate her. She could see it in their eyes."
She placed her head on the ground, wetting the ground with her tears.
"I'm sorry."
\[UNDERGROUND, HIDDEN LOCATION\]
Georgia sat on her throne like a chair. Her chamber. She was racking her brain as the truth began to show itself in her eyes.
She could see the truth about Drexton.
He's the same boy they abused, and now, he's back for revenge.
Why didn't she see it all along?
At her campaign, he was the one who sabotaged the event and made her lie unconscious on the road.
He had been in her life all this while, and it explains why Ixora was his target.
He wanted to ruin her daughter. She should have been smarter. The proof was there all along.
Then, the day she went to his office, he told her his parents were dead and he had mortgaged a watch. She should have connected the dots back then. If she did, he wouldn't have ruined her life like that.
"Calm down, Georgia." She stood, taking a sip of her drink. "You run the biggest black market business, and you've never been caught. You are smart and Drexton isn't someone to scare you. He's still the little boy afraid of you as a child. The only difference is that he's grown up."
"If only my foolish daughter hadn't fallen in love with him, then she's sure their paths wouldn't have crossed again. I wasn't expecting less, just like her father, she's a fool. I regret giving birth to someone like her."
She smashed the glass on the wall in full force, and it fell with a chattering sound.
"Breathe in, Georgia," she said, and breathed in and out three times, calming her nerves.
"Right now, he's only destroyed my political life. I shouldn't let him get to me first. It's time to strike. It's time to join his parents."
Larry came in and bowed.
"Ma'am, a call for you."
Georgia took the phone and saw it was a familiar number.
"Hello,"
"Yes, ma'am. 2210 regained consciousness."
"And..." Georgia trailed, waiting for what the caller had to say.
"He got into a fight with the doctors..."
"Continue."
"He managed to escape."
"What!"
