Chapter 425
Chapter 425
Ever since the Sons of God got kicked out of the country, they've been way more low-key. This might be a good chance to figure out what they're up to.
Simon sighed, staring out the window, lost in his thoughts.
As a heartbroken young man, he really wasn't in the mood to focus on work right now.
Lewis looked at his face and suddenly called his name, "Simon."
Simon turned around abruptly, his eyes hopeful. Could it be that his uncle had a change of heart?
Lewis slowly added, "I'll arrange a private jet for you."
A final act of kindness.
Simon stayed silent.
He turned away angrily, as if making a firm decision.
Taking advantage of the clear weather, Simon's plane flew abroad. Aria sat in a nearby car, watching the plane disappear into the horizon, lost in thought.
She didn't like these farewell scenes, especially since she got pregnant. They made her even more emotional.
Her eyes started to redden uncontrollably, and Lewis noticed, feeling a pang of guilt.
He shouldn't have brought Aria to the airport.
"When Simon lands, make him apologize to you."
Aria was puzzled.
Lewis's random comment shattered her sadness. She looked at him, confused, not remembering what Simon had done wrong.
Lewis spoke with a heavy tone, as if it was obvious, "If he hadn't insisted you come to see him off, you wouldn't be upset."
Aria paused, then laughed through her tears.
Who does that? Isn't this just bullying?
Meanwhile, Simon had no idea he was about to be ruthlessly exploited again. Sitting on the plane, he sneezed out of nowhere.
An assistant nearby immediately leaned over, eager to help, "Are you feeling unwell? We have medical staff on board, I can call them right away."
Simon waved him off, flipping through the documents in his hand.
Away from the relaxing environment of the Windsor Mansion, he became cold and composed, shedding his carefree demeanor. He now resembled Lewis quite a bit.
The plane landed in the night breeze, and loyal followers waiting there finally breathed a sigh of relief once Simon got into the car.
Sensing something was off from their attitudes, Simon asked, "What's going on?"
"Not sure if it's because of that shipment, but things have been unstable around here lately."
Johnny's face looked grim, "When you're negotiating, let us stay close to you."
Since the incident with Max, the Falcon Corps had fully allied with the Windsor family, now handling international affairs under their name.
Many were envious and tried various tactics against them. With the Sons of God shipment issue, things were really tough.
Understanding Johnny's concern, Simon couldn't help but smile, his cold demeanor softening, "Don't worry, I'm not completely helpless."
Don't forget, he used to be on the front lines like Easton. Though he hadn't been there in recent years, he wasn't much different from before.
Johnny's tension eased, and Bobby in the front seat also smiled, casually asking, "How's Max doing?"
"Much better, muscle atrophy isn't severe. He can start rehab training after the New Year."
Bobby frowned, "Didn't they say he could start earlier? Why wait until after the New Year?"
Simon hesitated, then said with difficulty, "Because Max wants to savor his last days of not working."
Bobby fell silent.
Johnny fell silent.
Both men, with blank faces, regretted ever worrying that this arrogant guy wouldn't adapt to life in a wheelchair!
Finally reaching their base, Damian was already waiting in the office. He smiled at Simon and tossed over some documents, "Sons of God recently updated their commission details."
"What's up?"
"They claim it's regular cargo, but I suspect there's more to it."
The contract seemed clear, but the terms were vague, allowing for easy manipulation later.
Simon glanced at it and scoffed, tossing it aside, "Anything else?"
"The person who approached us isn't from Chris's team, but from Mr. Stewart's..."
Before he could finish, a phone call interrupted.
Damian had to pause to answer.
After a few responses, he hung up, looking at Simon with a strange expression, "It's Mark. Chris wants to meet in person."
...
For safety and to show sincerity, Chris only brought Mark to their company.
In the spacious meeting room, Simon looked at the person he hadn't seen in a long time, his expression complicated.
"Mr. Sinclair, long time no see."
"Indeed, it's been a while," Chris smiled lightly, "But I can feel how much you've missed me."
After all the efforts to kill him, how could it not be considered concern from his enemies?
Simon didn't respond, just stared at Chris.
The two fell silent, not knowing how much time passed before Chris sighed softly, "You look a lot like your uncle."
Simon raised an eyebrow, showing rare arrogance and pride, "Of course."
Chris fell silent.
Damian, standing nearby, hesitated but kept quiet.
If he heard correctly, Chris seemed to be trying to sow discord, implying Simon would always live in Lewis's shadow.
But clearly, the bond between uncle and nephew was stronger than Chris anticipated, turning his taunt into a compliment.
Chris realized this too.
He looked at Simon darkly until Simon frowned, then asked, "How's Clea? Is she doing well?"
"Do you think you have the right to ask about Clea?" Simon frowned in disgust, "Don't even think about getting close to Aria. She's doing just fine without your concern."
Chris's expression grew colder, "I didn't mean anything by it, just wanted to ask."
Yes, he just wanted to ask, to know if his little apprentice was doing well.
Simon stood up, "If Mr. Sinclair came here just to discuss this, then we have nothing more to say."
Chris closed his eyes briefly.
He paused for two seconds, and as Simon's chair scraped loudly, he finally spoke again, "In business, only interests are eternal. For these interests, why can't we be friends?"
Simon sneered, looking down at Chris, "What interests do you offer in exchange for our friendship?"
