Chapter 649 Coming

Chapter 649 Coming

Zoey brought Francis to the police station.

Inside, there were quite a few familiar faces, and many greeted Zoey as she walked in.

When Zoey mentioned she wanted to see Linda, the officers didn't hesitate to agree.

Zoey pulled out an authorization letter.

"This is stamped by Sawyer himself. I need to be alone with the prisoner for an hour, and no one is to disturb us during that time."

The officer looked at the letter and nodded respectfully.

"Don't worry, I'll stand guard at the door and make sure no one interrupts."

Once the door was closed, Linda looked at Zoey.

She completely ignored Francis, not even considering him worth her attention.

"What brings you here today? And you brought someone along. Are you planning some new trick?"

Zoey replied calmly, "I'm here to get some information from you."

"Don't waste your time. You know I won't talk."

"If you don't talk, I'll have to make you." Zoey knew this woman had a lot of information and wouldn't have attacked her without reason.

When the officers questioned Linda, she claimed she couldn't stand Zoey always being in the spotlight.

But that was clearly a lie.

"Are you planning to use some kind of illegal method on me? Even if you do, it won't matter. I won't talk." Linda was confident.

Zoey wouldn't actually use illegal methods because the officers wouldn't allow it.

Linda was not only confident but also had the nerve to mock Zoey, "If I were you, I wouldn't have brought me to the police station in the first place. Bringing me here means you have no chance to interrogate me properly."

"Even if the officers give you a chance to talk to me alone, they won't let you lay a hand on me. And if you think you can shake my resolve with a few words, you're mistaken."

"I'm not foolish enough to rely on words alone."

Zoey stepped back.

Francis stepped forward.

Linda finally looked at the man in front of her. "Who are you? What do you want?"

Francis took out a pair of white gloves from his pocket and put them on, looking at Linda with disdain.

She had been here for several days, and as a prisoner, she could only maintain basic cleanliness. Looking presentable was out of the question.

Francis, on the other hand, was a neat freak.

"Although I don't like people like you, I'm here because my good friend asked me to. I hope you'll cooperate, so I don't have to turn you into a vegetable."

"What are you going to do?"

Linda stood up abruptly, but her hands were cuffed, and her legs were chained to the chair.

After a prisoner had escaped from the station previously, all prisoners were now strictly monitored whenever they were out of their cells.

So she could only stand but not move.

"I warn you, this is the police station. If you try anything, I'll scream, and you'll end up in here with me."

Normally, Linda wouldn't be afraid.

But right now, she was at their mercy.

"What are you thinking? I'm not interested in you." Francis didn't hide his disdain. "What I want is the information in your head."

"What?"

Before Linda could finish her sentence, a pen appeared in front of her. This pen was different from others, with vibrant, swirling colors.

At first glance, it was almost dizzying.

Linda instinctively closed her eyes.

But the next moment, a sound reached her ears.

The sound seemed to flow and move, gradually invading her mind through her ears.

In almost an instant, she felt sleepy.

But the remnants of her consciousness told her this was not the best time to sleep.

She had to stay awake.

Only by staying awake could she resist their methods.

But the more she tried to stay awake, the stronger the drowsiness became. Her eyes felt glued shut, and she couldn't open them. It was like being in a dream.

The sound became softer and more soothing.

It was like a feather, gently brushing her nerves, easing her fatigue and tension, making her relax involuntarily.

Linda gradually sat back down in the chair.

Her expression softened from tense to relaxed.

She looked like she was asleep.

"Now, I'm going to ask you a question. Who did you see yesterday?"

Linda spoke.

"An officer, and Glenn."

"Your senior came to visit you."

"He's not my senior."

"Why do you say that?"

"My senior died a long time ago. That fool thought I was Linda, so I took the opportunity to plant a psychological suggestion, making him destroy Flora."

Francis continued, "Why did you plant that suggestion? Flora sounds like a girl's name. Did she hurt you?"

"No, I wanted to destroy her to get revenge."

"Destroy Flora to get revenge on who?"

Linda's eyelids twitched as if she were about to wake up, but with a soft chime, she fell back into a deep trance.

"Zoey."

"Why did you initially want to hurt Zoey? Do you have a grudge against her?"

"Venom Elder ordered me to. He wanted me to get the X sample and find a chance to kill Zoey. If I could do those two things, he would give me the antidote and set me free."

Francis asked, "You said that fool thought you were Linda, so you're not Linda. Why are you pretending to be her?"

"For the X sample. Venom Elder got word that the X sample was at the Institute for Global Strategy and Analysis. I had just escaped from prison, so he sent me, the best at stealth and disguise."

"Do you look like Linda?"

Linda smiled. "Of course not. I'm a man, and she's a woman."

Francis looked at Zoey.

"Do you have any other questions?"

Zoey shook her head.

Linda heard a sharp sound, like something striking the wall.

She instantly woke up.

She opened her eyes and saw Zoey and Francis. The memory of the interrogation lingered in her mind, and her face turned dark.

"Zoey!" she snarled.

Zoey said calmly, "Don't worry. You're here now. Even if you talk, Venom Elder can't do anything to you. You'll be here for decades."

Zoey had promised Sawyer to help find the escaped prisoner, not realizing the person had been right under her nose.

She asked one last question.

"What happened to Linda?"

"She's dead."

There was no need to hide it anymore. Linda, or rather Royce, was his real name.

"Among the people who entered the institute, only she and I were the same height."

They could disguise faces, make thin people look fat, and even lose weight to match the target's weight, but height was something they couldn't fake.

Not even with a pair of elevator shoes.

Zoey nodded slightly. "Looks like you'll be here for the rest of your life."

"Zoey!"

But Zoey was already gone. Royce pounded the table with his fists, glaring at the door.

"Don't let me out, or I won't let you off!"
