Chapter 94 Toast, Unexpected Guest

The club environment was dim, relying on lighting to set the atmosphere. Holland followed Covington cautiously.

Finally, the waiter stopped in front of a carved wooden door. "Mr. Drake, this is it."

"Okay."

The waiter knocked on the door, opening it to the club room. Laughter and music assaulted Holland's ears.

"Covington is here!"

"He's now the CEO of SkyOrigin Corporation!"

"Rohan, you're the only one who knows about this! You're a great friend for keeping Covington's secret from us!"

Holland looked inside and saw seven or eight young men, but the most active was the dashing man sitting next to Rohan. He wore a deep blue shirt, was well-dressed, and looked more refined than the others, with violet cufflinks on his wrist. His features were sharp, his eyes particularly shrewd.

He stood up, walked to the door, and patted Covington's shoulder. "We're glad to see you've recovered."

Then his gaze fell on Holland, making her feel uncomfortable.

"Is this Mrs. Davis?" He seemed somewhat teasing.

The man named Thomas smiled, his gaze fixed on Holland without wavering.

Rohan quickly intervened, "Thomas, don't block the door! Covington, Holland, come in and sit down."

He pointed to the middle of the sofa, "I've saved you seats, perfect for a couple to sit together."

"Thank you," Covington replied indifferently.

"Rohan! Can't you read the room? They're married, not dating," joked the young men sitting on the sofa, causing laughter.

Holland and Covington sat together, her left hand held by him, feeling much more at ease. She was the only girl there, occasionally receiving friendly glances from the others.

"Mrs. Davis, can you sing?"

"Mrs. Davis, can you read fortunes? I've been having bad luck lately."

They were all enthusiastic, offering tarot cards for Holland to read except for Thomas, who sat by drinking quietly.

Holland felt overwhelmed.

Covington calmly said, "If you want a reading, find someone else. She won't do it."

"Oh! You're so protective of Mrs. Davis!"

"So sweet."

"Covington, you may seem cold, but you have your tender moments. It's surprising!" They teased.

Holland smiled awkwardly, looking at Covington with affection.

"Covington, you must have a drink today at the club, or we won't let you leave!" Someone suggested, gaining agreement from most.

"Yes! You have to have a drink!"

"Mrs. Davis too!"

Rohan intervened, "Everyone! It's not appropriate! She's still injured. Covington has just recovered from a serious illness. They shouldn't be drinking now!"

"Rohan, I knew you'd take their side! Just one drink, it's fine!"

"How about a toast then! You didn't have one at your wedding, and we weren't there."

"A toast!"

"A toast!"

The atmosphere became lively with cheers.

"Mrs. Drake, don't be shy!"

Holland looked at Covington, seemingly seeking help. She was truly at a loss.

"Mr. Drake..."

"It's only polite to return the favor," Covington said softly.

Holland saw he had conceded and had to comply. The glasses were filled, just a small amount, easily finished.

"Cheers!"

"Cheers!"

Holland was nervously biting her lip, clutching a tiny wine glass, and looking at Covington. Her mind was a total blank, clueless about how to do this toast thing. Covington gave her a hand, guiding her arm around his elbow, his eyes locked on hers.

Suddenly, Holland felt like she'd found her backbone. She closed her eyes slightly and took a sip of the wine.

It was sharp and stimulating. As the liquid flowed down her throat, sweetness filled her heart.

Their wedding night had lacked ceremony, a toast, or a grand feast.

If...

Holland's mind wandered, perhaps due to the alcohol. She held the small cup, not even lowering her arm, gazing at the charming man before her in the dim light.

Others smiled ambiguously.

"I've never seen Covington so serious before! Even in the past..."

"It seems he's really into it."

"Mr. Drake, don't be shy. We're all friends here."

They reassured, except for Thomas, who sneered, "He seems to forget all about his ex-girlfriend but is spellbound by his new love."

The atmosphere turned awkward.

Ignoring them, Thomas stood up, "I'll go pick up someone."

"Who's he pick up?"

"Everyone's here."

Among them, Thomas and Covington held higher status and came from esteemed families. The Brown Family was respected in A City, more so in the Imperial Capital.

Rohan's expression cooled as he explained to Covington and Holland, "He's probably acting up again. Don't mind him. He's arrogant and often ruins the mood."

Holland nodded, sensing Thomas's dislike, even hatred towards her.

Covington squeezed her wrist, "If you don't want to stay, we can go home."

"But..."

He had just reunited with his friends.

Deciding, Holland said, "I'd like to stay. Covington, chat with them, I'll be fine on my own. This place is quite intriguing to me."

She was considering Covington's feelings.

"Alright, you stay here."

Covington sat down, pouring her a glass of juice. "No more alcohol for you."

"Okay, you shouldn't drink either, your body needs to recover."

The couple's affectionate interaction left their friends envious and admiring.

"Covington, you really treat us like family! I want to be your brother-in-law!"

"Covington only has one sister. What will we do?"

The scene was lively. The door to the private room was pushed open.

"What's all this noise about?" Standing next to Thomas was a delicate and charming girl. Her voice was sweet. "Surprised to see me?"

She wore a white french-style dress, a red and black headband. Her slender figure was elegant and captivating.

She amazed everyone.
