Chapter 79 Holland, I Regret It
Outside the room came Donovan's voice, "Cov, are you asleep? I want to talk to you."
Covington opened the door and said, "Holland is asleep. Let's talk outside."
He gently closed the door.
Donovan looked somewhat awkward. He hesitated and asked, "How is Holland's injury?"
"Just say what you need to say." His expression was cold. His voice was low.
"Cov." Donovan also felt uncomfortable, "I was thinking about Morgan..."
"He's no longer my grandfather." Covington saw through it, "I know you've been going to the hospital a lot lately. You're willing to take care of him, but that's your business."
Donovan rubbed his hands, feeling guilty, "Morgan, your grandfather, is tormented by illness. He's also pitiful. He was discharged tonight. Roman and his son Ramsey only care about his shares."
He wiped his face and then said, "Cov, after all, Morgan... is my biological father. He mistreated us back then because of my birth, which led to my mother's difficult childbirth and death. If you want to blame someone, blame me."
Donovan was a good person with a kind heart.
"Are you now planning to ask Holland to help him with his illness? Holland is a very soft-hearted person, so don't take advantage of her kindness."
She could directly refuse Roman.
But if Donovan asked her, she would be in a difficult position.
"You..." Donovan sighed and said, "Why are you so stubborn."
"I won't stop you from showing your filial piety, but don't involve Holland in it."
"Cov! Your grandfather already knows he was wrong. He really wants to apologize to you in person. I know you're a gentle person. If you were really heartless, you wouldn't still remember the help the Collins family gave us ten years ago and the accident..."
"Dad!"
Covington interrupted him, "It's getting late. I'll have Tate take you home."
Seeing his determined expression, Donovan was full of disappointment. It seems that asking Covington was futile.
Donovan's peripheral vision glanced at the closed door, thinking Cov was right. Holland was a very soft-hearted person.
He took a deep breath and then said, "I'll go back first."
That night.
There was intense discussion online.
Most of those who insulted Holland deleted their previous comments and left a simple apology. Many patients treated by Holland praised her kindness.
Martin Whiteside, the Vice President of the Medical Association, was suspended. That announcement was also removed.
Dave's crimes were exposed. His family also faced insults.
Even Aurora was found to have abandoned her daughter and married into a wealthy family. A snippet of her interview was edited out.
"Abandoning such an outstanding daughter, Aurora must be very regretful."
"She's Mr. Kendrick's apprentice! I heard Aurora has been seeing doctors because she wants to have a son for the wealthy."
The discussion continued to heat up.
The next day.
Early in the morning, Beckett finished treating Holland. Aunt prepared a sumptuous breakfast.
After breakfast, Beckett said to Holland and Covington, "I'm going out to meet an old friend today, so I'll be back late."
Covington said lightly, "I'll have Tate accompany you."
"No need." Beckett waved his hand.
Covington didn't insist; he just reminded him to stay safe.
Many people were now coming for Beckett's reputation. Various valuable gifts piled up at the villa's gate overnight. Aunt strongly insisted that the security guards not let strangers in, which helped control the situation.
Even the security room was filled with gifts. Those people were too enthusiastic.
"If you need anything, give me a call," Holland said softly.
"I know A City better than you. I won't get lost."
Finding her talkative, Beckett took his things and left.
Covington looked at her, a faint smile on his face. He lightly touched her nose with his fingertip and said, "My wife, you're too nosy."
Holland blushed, "I'm not."
"Do you want to be my wife?" Covington looked at her tenderly.
Holland felt shy.
Seeing how well they got along, Aunt covered her mouth and chuckled.
"Mr. Covington, Mrs. Drake, take your time with breakfast. I'll go take out the trash," she said, carrying two bags of garbage out and then suddenly screaming.
"Oh my goodness, you scared me." Aunt put down the garbage and headed back inside.
Frowning slightly, Holland asked, "Aunt, what's wrong?"
Aunt hurriedly said, "Mr. Beckett Sr. has been... blocked. Your mother is here."
Upon hearing this, Holland stood up and quickly walked out. Covington followed behind her.
Outside the villa.
Aurora, with a bruised face and disheveled hair, knelt in front of Beckett, crying, "Mr. Beckett Sr., my mother-in-law, is your friend. I haven't visited Holland for so many years for a reason. In this world, married women can't live a good life."
She cried miserably.
"The Evans Family caused all these injuries on me." Aurora was pretty, so her tears were more infectious.
Beckett coldly said, "Even if you're not living well, it has nothing to do with Sweetheart Holland. Why have you hurt her multiple times?"
Clutching her chest, Aurora cried bitterly, "I know I was wrong. I will definitely make it up to Holland in the future."
Holland listened to her words and slowly approached.
She asked, "Are you trying to make it up to me because you found out about Beckett's identity?"
"No! Holly, I really know I was wrong!"
Holland felt conflicted as she looked at her kneeling there. But she couldn't easily forgive her.
"Is the Evans Family treating you badly? Didn't you say Poppy was your daughter?" Holland asked coldly.
"They either hit me or curse at me," Aurora cried, "Juniper cheated on me."
She was truly pitiful. But those who were pitiful often have their faults.
"If you can say in front of everyone that I'm not your daughter, then we have no relationship," Holland said coldly. Her eyes slightly reddened, revealing a lot of resentment.
"Sweetheart Holland," Beckett called out, "you and Cov go out first. I'll handle this."
Beckett decided for her.
He knew Holland's character very well. Whether as a bystander or forgiving Aurora, she couldn't do it.
"Come in."
Beckett said to Aurora. Aurora was overjoyed and followed him inside. She didn't even spare a glance at Holland. Holland's heart grew colder.
Covington put his arm around her shoulder. His warm lips brushed against her cheek, "Dr. Holland, let me take you out to vent."
As she turned her head slightly, his kiss landed on the corner of her lips.
"Mr. Covington..."
"Don't be sad for unworthy people."
Covington held her wrist, opened the car door, and let her in. Holland nodded, looking at him with love in her eyes.
In the living room of the villa.
Beckett looked at the disheveled Aurora and said slowly, "I can prescribe something for you, but you must agree to one condition."
