Chapter 87

Ariel's POV

I woke up alone in bed the following day sore. There was a note on the nightstand telling me Brandon and Landon had some Pack business to take care of, and they didn't want to wake me.

I decided it would be a good idea to take a bath and relax my muscles, so I went to the bathroom and started the water. After about thirty minutes, I stepped out of the tub and wrapped a towel around my body. I brushed my hair and teeth before exiting the bathroom and entering the walk-in closet to pick out my clothes. I chose a green sundress to wear and walked out of the room.

When I walked into the kitchen, mom was cooking breakfast.

"Hey, Ariel. How did you sleep?" Mom asked

"I slept well. What are you making?" I asked

"Pancakes, bacon, and eggs. Laura will be here in a while to eat with us," mom said

"Okay, I will go set the table in the dining room," I replied and got the plates, cups, and silverware to place on the table. I made sure to set a place for Brandon and Landon, hoping they would show up for breakfast. It was crazy how I had just woken up and already missed them.

"I thought it would be a good idea for you to start your Luna duties today now that you are the Luna of the Pack. I will stay by just in case you need help, but I am pretty sure you know what to do. I have taught you everything I know," Mom said

"Yeah, that's a good idea," I replied

"One of the Pack Members just found out who her Mate is. She is only sixteen, and her family doesn't know she found her Mate in school. He is a part of the Shadow Pack, which is one of our neighborhood Packs. He is the Gamma's son. We need to go with her while she tells her parents the news as support. He wants to bring his Mate home with him to the Shadow Pack, but she is worried her parents will be upset with her," Mom said

"Okay," I said. I didn't know what else to say. I understood why her parents wouldn't want her to go. She was only sixteen, and they were her parents. In the human world, she would be considered a child and wouldn't be able to leave her parent's house. But in the werewolf world, you were an adult at sixteen. I honestly didn't agree with the werewolf law on the age of an adult. It seemed too young for a sixteen-year-old to be old enough to make their own decisions. I wasn't that much older than her and wished my father was still here to help me make decisions sometimes.

"How do we know her Mate is a good person? Does she want to go with her Mate?" I asked

"I never asked," mom said

"I think we should talk to her first before trying to convince her parents to let her leave. Also, we should make sure that her Mate is treating her right. I don't want him to try to make her do anything she isn't ready to do yet," I said

Brandon and Landon told me how hard it was for them to wait to mark and mate with me when they first met me. They also told me that higher-rank wolves like Alphas, Betas, and Gammas feel more possessive over their Mate. He might not be trying to hurt his Mate, but he will have a bigger urge to claim her. I don't want any female being forced to be mated with or marked. So as far as I was concerned, until I was sure he understood that she wasn't going anywhere with him.

"That is good thinking, Ariel. You see, you are already turning into a better Luna than I was," Mom said, hugging me, and I smiled.

"I am not too sure about that, but I will try to be the best Luna I can be," I replied, hugging her back.

"Are we disrupting something?" Brandon said. I turned to see Brandon and Landon standing behind me. I quickly stood from my seat, hugged Brandon, and then did the same with Landon. "I missed you both," I said, and they laughed.

"We missed you too, Princess. What were you two talking about before we walked inside?" Brandon asked

We have to meet with one of the Pack Member's parents because she met her Mate. He lives in the Shadow Pack and is the future Gamma of the Pack. Ariel wants to make sure he understands she is only sixteen and not to force her into doing anything before we let her leave. I was telling Ariel how she is already thinking as a Luna because she is caring for her Pack Member's safety," mom said

"Yeah, that's a good idea. We will go with you," Brandon said. We all sat down, and soon Laura walked in as well. Pam and I brought the plates in, and we ate breakfast together as a family.

I looked around at everyone that was sitting at the table and smiled. It felt nice being around people who cared for me and loved me. The only person who ever loved me was my father, who was gone now. I never wanted to be away from Brandon or Landon and planned to live happily with them for the rest of my life. I loved them, and they were my world.

Brandon placed his hand in mine, and Landon did the same with my other hand. I was sure they could feel my emotions through our bond.

"We love you too," They mind-linked me.
