Chapter 178

"It's the truth! What makes you believe I will let you rule the pack? Something I've spent my whole life dreaming of? I liked your father, and I was going to do the same with you!"

A tear slipped down Henry's cheek as he watched his mom, realizing that the old lady had been leading him astray all along.

"Why? Why did you treat me this way? I've spent my entire life in sadness. You made me believe I must get the throne regardless of what it takes, so this was it? You are wicked, Mom; you don't deserve to live! You should die!" she yelled, grabbing the necklace around his neck.

"Please don't cut it; that's my life! If you cut it, then I'm going to get old. I'm way older than you all expected; this necklace has been the thing keeping me young. I'm way older than everyone here. I am old enough to give birth to the old alpha himself. Please don't do it—I’ve done lots of things to be able to achieve this because now I'm only steps away from achieving it. Please don't end me," she pleaded, almost laughing out loud.

"What? How is that possible? So you aren't my mom?"

"Hell no! The maid who gave birth to you was never me! I only took her face. I've been doing that for years now. I'm a hundred and fifty this year, but I've managed to keep myself this young by consuming blood from the younger generation. You have been staying with me all this while; you just couldn't see it because you were too dumb. We were seven sisters. We were cursed by the moon goddess simply because we wanted to rule the world. The only way to break the curse was to get the throne. She knew it was impossible, so she made the reason for the curse the remedy. If I could successfully get on that throne, then I would be able to bring my sisters, who sacrificed their lives for me. So tell me, how am I being selfish? I only want to see my sisters once again. Tell me, how is that a crime?" she yelled.

By the time she finished, everyone was already looking at her with their mouths wide agape.

Who would have thought that the pretty lady was way older than they expected? Even the old alpha could not believe his ears.

"Yeah, you aren't my mother, so what's the need for me to pity you? You only care about your sisters, so what business do I possibly have with you? Just go ahead and die! Go join your sisters and tell them you couldn't achieve their expectations; they will be so disappointed in you! Now it's time to go back to where you belong—hell!" Henry jibbered, then cut the necklace.

They all watched as she transformed from a beautiful old lady to an old, smelly woman, her face and entire body already wrinkled.

Henry turned to look at Darien.

"I know I've wronged you. I’ve spent my whole life seeing you as an opponent, even though all you wanted was for us to live together. I'm sorry for everything that I've done. I really hope you can forgive me for all that I've done to you. It was all my mother's fault. Yeah, the lady's fault. I have no mother, nor do I know my father; I was fooled. I hope you can give me a second chance to amend my ways, please." Darien looked at his dad, then back at Darien.

"It's okay; I forgive you. I know none of this was your intention. Come on, come over here!" Darien told him.

He walked closer to Darien like he was going to hug her, then brought out a small dagger from his pocket and tried stabbing her with it. But luckily for Darien, who saw it in time, he took the knife from him and stabbed his hand with it.

"What makes you think you can kill me? I knew this was what you wanted. From your eyes, I could tell you meant otherwise. While your mouth said something different, your eyes showed hatred and anger. I've survived a lot to die in your hands! You got the wrong person."

The guard immediately stepped forward and grabbed him.

"Don't just grab him; take Sandra with him. Behead them and hang their heads at the entrance of the pack until nightfall. Their bodies should be thrown into the forest to serve as a warning to others. Anyone who dares to go against the alpha or who plans a rebellion will suffer the same fate. And as for you, Mike," he pointed at the old man.

"For being an accomplice to a rebellion, you and your household are hereby exiled for a decade. If you die there within ten years, you should be buried there; none of your household would ever set foot in this pack until after ten years. Now drag them out!" Raymond, the old alpha, ordered.

"Please, Raymond, you can't do this to me. Remember, I'm your friend! We have been friends; please don't deprive me of the privilege of being buried with my ancestors. They will not accept me in the afterlife, please!" he pleaded.

"You should have known better when you decided to betray our friendship. You were willing to get my own son killed because of your quest and greed for power. You shouldn't be buried with them. They denied you the day you chose to conspire!"

The guards dragged him out, ignoring his pleas.

Immediately after they left, he walked toward Alisha.

"I'm so sorry for the wrong I did to you. I know I don't deserve to be forgiven, but I'm pleading with you, with whatever you hold dear, forgive me. I never meant to behave that way; I was only traumatized by what happened. Please find a place in your heart to forgive me."

Alisha walked toward him and held his arms.

"It's fine; I've forgiven you already. I have come to realize that staying mad will only worsen the situation. I forgive you." Alisha slowly leaned in and hugged him.

"Father, didn't you see me? I've been standing here all this while; why didn't you notice me?" Dora half-yelled. They all turned to look at her once again.

"Anita! You are alive! Come on, come here!" He walked toward her.

Dora quickly ran to hug him.

"Anita? How come I don't recognize her? And why is her face different?" Darien asked.

"It was Dad who told me to do it! He told me that if I should eventually survive, I should change my face. He told me he would remember my face if he saw me again, though I only remember him as the only family I have. I don't even know anything about you," she rolled her eyes.

"It's okay, baby. We are all here. I can't believe we survived this. After fifteen years of being apart, we have reunited as a family once again. The moon goddess has indeed granted me my heart's desires. I'm so happy," he said, then hugged both of them.

The pack members watched happily.

Mr. Alex also apologized to her parents, though he was shocked at first when he was told that Alisha wasn't her supposed mom's biological daughter.

After Darien pleaded with Alisha's family once again, promising them not to ever treat her poorly again, he also apologized to Daniel, who was still mad at him for what happened.

Soon it was evening, and the pack members retired to their various homes, including Alisha's parents, who couldn't contain their happiness.

Two months later

It's already been two months since everything happened. Alisha, Darien, and their son have resumed their normal family lifestyle.

Sonia is five months gone already, and Bethel is two months pregnant.

Dora, though she's yet to find her mate, now stays with her dad, happily waiting for her supposed mate.

Jace committed suicide that same day; they found him hanging from the ceiling, with a confession letter stuck in his pocket. Wren was heartbroken, but it was for the better; he deserved to die for all his evil deeds.

"What's taking you so long, Mom? Daddy is waiting downstairs; we will be late for the anniversary," Daniel told his mom.

"I'm coming, sweetheart; go tell him I'm almost done."

"Okay, Mommy, make sure you dress to kill! I invited my friends over to see how beautiful you are."

Shortly, she stepped out looking stunning. Darien, who was previously on his phone, had to look up and stare.

"Having you in my life is my gain. I don't ever want to lose you ever again," he said, holding her hands.

"Same here, Pokie; forever is the deal!" She blurted, then crashed her lips onto his.
