Chapter 175
Writer's POV;
"After I heard it, I knew the alpha would be helpless if he eventually found out that Darien was not his son, so I decided to help him. I did what I did to save the throne from his lineage; so where did I go wrong?" She battered her lids.
"One thing I'm trying to get straight is why you've been quiet all these years. Why didn't you come back to lay this claim when he had no heir? Why are you back all of a sudden?" An elder questioned her.
"It's not that I didn't want to come back, but he threatened my son that he would get rid of her the very day he set foot in this castle."
"Then again, why are you with this traitor? Isn't she supposed to be in prison? This can only mean you also have a hand in the supposed death of Luna," a maid said from the back. Though they weren't allowed to speak, at this point, everyone must speak out to prove them wrong.
"They have no hand in whatever happened to me. I was the one who chose to do it; it was a form of revenge for what Darien did to my sister. He caused the death of my sister."
"Which sister? The same one that your parents asked to kill herself? Stop the fake sympathy; we all know what you and your parents did!"
"Is that what he told you? That's a big lie; my parents never did any of the things he accused them of. He was the one who caused my sister's death," Sandra insisted.
"None of that matters! Step aside. Don't use that as an excuse to divert from the original topic; her sister died years back, and whatever happened was in the past. Let's talk about why we are here!" Henry blurted.
"I still don't get what you all are saying. Coming here today to claim that the alpha is not the late alpha's son is an insult to the late Alpha! You have been alive all this while but acted dead, so why does it matter now? Whether you are dead or alive, it's no longer our problem. Just go back to where you came from! What in God's name made you believe you can let a child you gave birth to out of wedlock be our leader? You sure overestimated yourself!" Wren giggled.
"Even when the truth is clearly standing in front of you, none of you still want to believe it. Probably he has bewitched you all, the way his mom did!"
"I won't tolerate you insulting my mom! You came here to accuse me of something you know you and your son are guilty of. And you expect me to stand by and watch you insult my mom? If there's anyone who is not the alpha's son, then that should be your son! You were already pregnant with him before you slept with my dad; you only did it to pin the pregnancy on my dad!"
"Another lie! Where's the proof that he's not the father of my son? You wanted evidence for your case, right? Then this is it," she brought out an old piece of paper from her bag and handed it to one of the chiefs seated in front of him.
The chief read through the letter and then signed.
"This indeed is connected to Darien, but how can we be sure that you didn't fabricate this?" The elder asked her.
She sighed tiredly, getting weary.
"What do you suggest we do? They've charmed Dora; if we can get her to say the truth, then we will be at the winning end," Darien mind-linked Alisha.
"Don't worry, I will do it. Let me quickly talk to her; I think I still share a link with her; she once mind-linked me."
She quickly did it and hoped it worked.
"Dora, what happened to you? How come you are on her side? Didn't you come to me so we can take them down together?"
"I don't know what happened; I'm just starting to realize myself now. What should I do?" Dora asked.
"It's not hard; go on and tell them that everything you said was a lie."
"Okay. I'm sorry for what I said; none of it was my intention."
"It's okay, let's just act fast."
Seeing that none of the people were looking, she quickly twitched her fingers in the direction of a chief who seemed to be the highest of them all.
The chief stood up.
"Yes, she's correct. Darien is not the true son of the alpha. The alpha himself told me something similar before he died; he told me he only crowned Darien because of his mom, and that Darien was not his son. I didn't bother bringing it up all this while because Henry was nowhere to be found. I'm sorry for not speaking up earlier."
"What? Darien is not the son of the alpha? No wonder he behaved nothing like him; he acted far from the late Alpha!"
"Now that we already know he's not the real son of the Alpha, what are we still waiting for? The real son of the Alpha is back and should resume his rightful position!" she jibbered as she approached Darien.
Without a second thought, she bent down and took the crown from him. She did a similar thing to Alisha; since they already had everything planned out well, they just let her show off.
She then walked back to where Sandra and Henry were and placed the crown on their heads.
"As the power vested in me as the queen and wife of the late Alpha, I hereby crown his successor and rightful heir, the alpha of the Greyhound pack!" The elder who gave the fake testimony began clapping his hands, and the pack members soon followed. The elder in question never tells a lie, so seeing him act this way means he's telling the truth.
"Are you done? Are you done disgracing yourself? Aren't you tired of all these things you've been doing? You even dared to crown another man's son the alpha? You are evil!" Dora said, turning all attention to herself. Didn't she just tell the world that Darien was not the rightful heir to the throne? So why is she changing her statement all of a sudden?
"What's up with you? Were you not the one who just came to accuse him? Why are you suddenly changing your statement?" An elder asked her.
"Because I was bewitched! I wasn't myself!"
The pack members all looked at her in disgust, wondering what she took them for. Minutes ago, she was accusing him; now she's defending him. What exactly is her problem?
"Seems you didn't take your drugs before coming here; you can't just tell us two different stories in the blink of an eye. Tell me, which do you want us to believe?"
"Yes, you are lying! You said something else earlier!"
"Why can't you just get it straight? I was bewitched; I don't even know how I got here!”
