Chapter 167
Don't say that, dear. He's still your dad. It won't be good if you have no parents," Bethel tried to convince him.
"I won't mind. Mommy and I had been on our own before he came. Mommy never wanted to forgive him. I was the one who said I wouldn't talk to her again if she refused to forgive him. He promised me he would take care of Mommy and me. That's why I forgave him. I didn't know it would turn out this way. If I hadn't convinced Mom, then she would still be alive. I hate myself for forgiving him."
"Don't say that, dear. You shouldn't blame yourself for what happened. You did what every kid in your shoes would do. Don't blame yourself, please."
"I thought he meant everything he said to me. I'm so sorry, Mom. If I hadn't asked you to come back, then you wouldn't have died. Please forgive me." A tear slipped down his cheek.
"It's okay, dear. You don't have to blame yourself. Your Mommy wouldn't be happy seeing you this way. Remember you promised her you'd always be a strong boy. You are breaking your promise if you cry, and she won't be happy with you." He quickly wiped his cheeks.
"I'm not crying again. I don't want my Mommy to be sad or angry at me. Just take me to the castle later, please."
"It's okay. I will take you there once you are ready."
"Who's there?" Darien asked.
"It's me, my lord. You have a letter."
"Open the door." The guard opened the door and entered.
"From whom?"
"I don't know, my lord. We just saw it at the gate."
"And you assumed it's mine?"
"It has your name on it; it's yours," the guard told him.
He took the letter from the guard and opened it.
"You may go now. I will call you if I need you to do anything else for me." He dismissed the guard.
"Yes, my lord. I will be outside in case you need anything." The guard bowed and left.
Even before he read the contents, he knew it wasn't her writing. These past months that they had spent together, he had come to understand many things about her. He understood her writing so well since she'd been helping him sort out some important files. Dora was right after all. Henry and his mom were out to utilize this opportunity.
"It's me, Alisha. I'm alive. I know you might be wondering how come, but I'm not dead. After I fell from the bridge, some people saved me, so I'm fine. Please, I don't want to show my face to the pack now. Please meet me at the olive tree on the boundary between the night pack and the Greyhound pack by 12 PM tomorrow. I will be waiting for you there so we can talk things out." He hissed loudly after reading the letter.
"So they think they can lure me out with this format? These people won't cease to amaze me!" he blurted.
Soon, an idea crossed his mind. It was Dora who came to tell him first, so probably she might have a solution to this. He quickly picked up his phone and dialed her number.
"What's up? Why are you calling me? I just left there yesterday, and you're already disturbing me? What is it?"
"They dropped a letter in Alisha's name! She asked me to meet up with her tomorrow."
"What did they do? Don't you think this is too sudden? I mean, the trap, because obviously, we both know it's not Alisha."
"Yeah, it's a trap, and that's all the more reason I want to go. Tell me, what do you suggest?"
"Yeah, you should go. If you turn down this invitation, then they will think you know their plan. I need to find my way and get something out of Henry. Don't worry, I will try to get something out of him before tomorrow. I will call you once I've done so."
"You mean you will try to find out what they planned? But how do you plan on achieving that? Isn't that too risky? What if you get caught?"
"Well, there's quite a lot that you don't know. It's not easy for me to get caught. First, I know them more than anyone else, and as for Henry, I know his weakness. I only need to do a few things, and boom, he will open up to me like it was never meant to be hidden."
"You know them? Don't be too confident; his mom is unpredictable. She can actually do a lot of things you don't expect. You should be careful around them."
"Yeah, his mom is the real devil. I've come to realize that everything the guy is doing, he's only doing to please his mom. He's not that bad of a person; he's a bad person, that's for sure. But if his mom can be out of the way, he won't be a problem for you. I wonder what the mom is set to achieve from this mess she's causing."
"I thought so at first until my dad told me..."
"Wait, you have a dad? Since when? I thought your dad was said to be dead."
"I thought so too, but something happened. He's alive, but he lost half of his memory; he only remembers some things, all thanks to Henry's mom for everything she's been doing."
"Oh, I see. I hope to meet him one day."
"That's no problem. Once we've gotten them out of the way, then I will personally bring you to see him. So, my dad told me he found out that Henry was not his son. That's what pissed his mom off, so he attempted to kill him, or rather, he killed him. He did it so no one would know what she did."
"Wait? You mean Henry is not your father's son? Then whose son is he?
