Chapter 162

Darien walked down the highway leading out of the hospital. His dad had requested to eat some fruit, and he didn't want to send the guards, so he just did it himself.

"That's him, the alpha who killed Luna," an older woman pointed at Darien.

"Hell no! How dare he be this handsome? He's too handsome to be evil. I can't believe I've been dreaming of meeting him all this time. He doesn't deserve to be called an alpha," the lady, who anyone could tell was not mentally stable, said.

She's probably the woman's daughter.

"I'm happy you finally gave up the idea of meeting him! He's not worth it!" Darien had to take a proper look at the girl. Was the old lady referring to that thing sitting beside her? Even a dog would reject that one, with her audacity to blubber nonsense even in her ill condition.

"Look, he's looking at us! Let's quickly leave," she whispered. Well, they had been whispering the whole time; Darien could hear it because of his hearing ability, not because they were making noise.

"Yes, Mom, let's go before he comes here. I don't want him to come after us," the mother said again, then dragged her daughter away.

Darien looked at her and then hisses loudly.

He'd barely gone halfway when he came face to face with Michael.

He knew very well that this encounter wouldn't be a good one, so he just prepared his mind and walked toward him.

Michael giggled upon seeing him.

"So you're still alive? I've been waiting to see you face to face all this time, but you've been hiding so well. Now I've seen you."

"Hi, do you need my help with anything?" Darien asked politely.

"I don't need anything. I just need you to bring back my sister, or is that too hard to ask?" Michael asked him.

"Please, Michael, we shouldn't be discussing this here. Let's just go somewhere quiet and talk, please." Michael chuckled.

"Go somewhere? To do what? Do you think I have time to talk things out with you?"

"Don't start, Michael. You are creating a scene, please."

"What do you mean I shouldn't start? I can't remember doing anything wrong. You know I've always known this is the real you. Even when no one saw the real you, I did. I knew you weren't as good as you looked. All my sister ever did was love you, but what did she get in return? Betrayal! As if bringing in another woman wasn't enough, you went ahead and planned with her to kill my sister! Just why did you do it? You could have just sent her packing, and she'd have gladly left. You know how my mom fancied her, but you still went ahead to do what you liked. Now you see how badly you've shattered my mom, and you dare to tell me to go talk things out with you? That's impossible! I'm never talking it out with you, not now, not ever! Not until you provide for my sister!"

"I didn't kill her. I have no business in what happened. It was Sandra who did everything!"

"Yeah, it was Sandra—the same Sandra you kissed at Wren's birthday party? The same girl you brought to frustrate her? You fucking know what happened to her! If you hadn't brought her in, my sister would still be alive. You know full well that the Sandra lady is into you, but you still went ahead and brought her just so she could kill my sister. And you dare tell me you have no hands in it? Just quit the pretense!"

"I don't need you to believe me. I just need you to give me time—give me time to prove my innocence!"

"You need to prove your innocence? To whom? Will proving your innocence bring her back? Just save yourself the stress. Explaining yourself or proving your innocence will make no difference, so save it!"

"I don't know why you hate me. From the first day, you've never liked me. I don't know why you've been treating me like we're fighting over something."

"Yeah, I've always hated you, even before I saw you. I hated you merely from the rumors I heard. Each time I heard people discuss how you treated your Luna, it only doubled my hatred for you. Though I never knew it was my sister, I just had this hatred for you as if I knew the lady in question was my sister. I warned her, but my mom just wouldn't listen. She's hell-bent on leaving her to be with you, claiming walking out of the marriage is not the best. You are mean, Darien. You will pay for everything you did to my sister, for the times you wronged her in the past and for those previous times you wronged her."

"You are getting this whole thing wrong. Alisha is my mate, and I love her just the way I love myself. Everything that happened in the past was never my fault. I wasn't myself in everything I did. I never meant to do it. Can you just stop making me feel like the worst guy ever? I'm not that bad!"

"Yeah, all you do is heap the blame on other people. You killed her; you blame Sandra. Now you also blame her for what happened in the past! Aren't you so mean, Darien? Does she deserve all those things you've done to her? If only I had known, I would have pleaded harder. I would have convinced her to stay! Now my mom is in there fighting for her life, and you are here blaming others for your mistakes. Just pray nothing happens to my mom because I won't take it lightly with you! You will pay for everything you've done!"

"Wait, what happened to her?!"

"Shut up! Stop pretending like you care!" Michael cut him off.
