Chapter 193: Is This Your Show of Sincerity?

Chapter 193: Is This Your Show of Sincerity?

"No," his voice was soft, "this is just the beginning."

As the words left his lips, the melodious sound of a cello suddenly echoed from below.

Diana looked down and saw a small chamber orchestra had appeared in the garden beneath the apartment building, playing her favorite piece—Swan Lake.

"Mommy, Mr. Windsor specially arranged this!" Daisy exclaimed, tugging at Diana's hand. "He said you used to study ballet and this is your favorite!"

Diana's heart jolted.

That was something she'd mentioned in passing when she was eighteen. She never imagined Charles had remembered it all these years.

"Diana." Charles stepped forward, holding out the bouquet, then pulled a jewelry set from his pocket. "Grandmother left these for you. She said when you married me, she never got the chance to give you a proper wedding gift."

The moment Diana's fingers touched the cool jewels, her nose tingled with emotion.

"Charles, you don't need to go to such lengths."

"I have to." Charles looked at her earnestly. "Because what I owe you is far more than this. Diana, I'm not asking you to forgive me right now. I just want you to know that the suffering you endured these five years—I'll spend the rest of my life making up for it."

Jason stood nearby, watching it all unfold.

He saw the sincerity in Charles's eyes, then glanced at his mother's trembling lashes, and sighed inwardly.

This jerk actually seemed to be trying.

"Mommy, make a wish!" Daisy held up a balloon, her eyes sparkling.

Diana closed her eyes and made a silent wish.

When she opened them, Charles was watching her anxiously.

"Charles, I'm giving you three months," Diana took a deep breath. "A probationary period."

Charles's eyes lit up as he nodded repeatedly. "I accept! Diana, I swear I'll show you I can change!"

"And," Diana paused, "next Saturday is Jason and Daisy's kindergarten family sports day. If you're free, you can come."

Charles nearly jumped with excitement. "I'm free! I'll definitely be there!"

Jason snorted from the side. "Don't get too excited. There are lots of activities that require parent participation. Mr. Windsor, are you sure you're up for it?"

Charles's eyes were resolute as he clenched his fists. "Don't worry. I've been training at the gym this whole time. I definitely won't embarrass you!"

Daisy clapped her hands and cheered. "Yay! We finally have a daddy to join us at sports day!"

Diana watched her daughter's joy with mixed emotions.

These past five years, every time they'd seen other children with their fathers, Jason and Daisy never said anything, but she knew how much they envied them.

"It's getting late. You two need to get to bed." Diana turned and headed upstairs.

Charles watched her retreating figure, a smile tugging at his lips.

Three months. He had to seize this opportunity.

However, behind this tender scene, a pair of cold eyes was watching Charles through binoculars from across the street.

"Charles, you destroyed my family. I'll make you pay," Julia muttered from her wheelchair, her face twisted with hatred.

Since her suicide attempt left her paralyzed, Beckett had confined her to a rehabilitation facility. But she'd bribed a caregiver to help her escape.

She wanted revenge.

Not just revenge—she wanted Charles to experience the agony of losing those he loved most.

"Diana... and those two brats. They all have to die." Julia's voice dripped with venom.

Behind her stood a man wearing a baseball cap.

"Mrs. Smith, are you sure about this?" The man's voice was low. "Charles has Diana and the children heavily guarded now. It won't be easy to make a move."

"I don't care!" Julia's eyes gleamed with madness. "My daughter is dead, my son's in prison, and I can't even stand anymore! This is all their fault! Just help me pull this off, and I'll give you ten million dollars!"

The man was silent for several seconds before finally nodding.

"Fine."

The next morning, Charles appeared at Diana's door as usual.

This time he brought not only breakfast, but also a detailed "Winning Her Back Action Plan."

"Diana, this is my three-month plan of action. Please review it." Charles respectfully handed over the document.

Diana flipped through it and found page after page filled with meticulous arrangements.

Everything from daily breakfast menus to weekend family activities, even a list of equipment her lab needed.

"Charles, are you writing a dissertation?" Diana didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

"I was afraid I wouldn't do well enough, so I planned ahead." Charles spoke seriously. "Diana, if there's anything you think isn't right, tell me immediately and I'll change it."

Diana looked at his cautious demeanor, and something softened inside her.

The once-imposing CEO of Windsor Group had become like this for her sake.

"Alright, I got it." Diana handed the document back. "You should go now. I need to get to the lab."

"I'll drive you," Charles immediately offered.

"No need. I'll drive myself."

"Then I'll follow behind. If anything happens on the road, I can help right away."

Diana couldn't argue with him and let him tag along.

However, she had no idea that as her car pulled out of the complex, a black van quietly fell in behind them.

Julia sat inside, her gaze poisonous.

"Mrs. Smith, Charles's car is following too. We can't make a move," the driver warned.

"Then take him out along with her!" Julia snarled. "I have nothing left to lose!"

The driver hesitated, but eventually pressed down on the accelerator.

As Diana's car passed through an intersection, the van suddenly shot out from a side alley, heading straight for the side of her vehicle.

Charles, sitting in his car, instantly sensed the danger.

"Nathan, that van's going for Diana!"

Nathan immediately jerked the steering wheel, the car accelerating forward to position itself alongside Diana's vehicle.

"Mr. Windsor, hold on!"

The next second, the van slammed into Charles's car.

The massive impact sent Charles's vehicle flipping onto its side, the body severely mangled, glass shards exploding everywhere.

Diana saw it all through her rearview mirror, her face turning deathly pale.

"Charles!"
