Chapter 52 Chapter 52
Chapter 52
Darius POV
"Alpha, I just got off the phone with Donovan." Nathan informed me.
"Really? What did he say?" I asked.
"He confirmed that it was indeed planned. The truck was sent to crash into Iris's car and then her death could be framed as an accident and also her driver is in on it as well." He responded.
"Morons!" I muttered through gritted teeth. I knew it wasn't ordinary, I just didn't think it would be like this but I will make sure to teach whoever it is a lesson they won't ever forget in their after lives.
"Who is the truck driver, Nathan?" I demanded.
"According to my findings, it's some guy named Chris." He answered.
"Good. I want Chris in the basement before sunset." I commanded.
"Yes, Alpha. I will get him now." He nodded.
"Before you go," I spoke up again. "I want Iris’ driver alongside him in the basement as well."
"Okay, Alpha. I will have them waiting for you." He said.
I walked away from him, walking back to the room Iris was in. She had passed out earlier when we were about to leave the room Vickie's baby was in.
The doctor said it's from exhaustion and advised I to let her rest. She handled it better than I expected, I expected maybe she would have a relapse after hearing the news but she didn't.
Which is a very good thing. I didn't think she wouldn't though, one of the numerous reasons why I stayed glued to her side.
I sat down beside her, waiting for her to wake up so I could get her something to eat. She hasn't eaten anything since she woke up from the coma and I'm sure I will have to force her to eat but it's fine.
Then my mind went to Chris and her driver. Emphasis on her driver, wondering how she will feel knowing her driver was among the people that tried to kill her.
I can't wait to hear the names of the people that sent them. It can't definitely be Daniel, I already killed him and there is no way any doctor will be able to save him.
"Da...rius." Iris whispered and my head snapped to her face.
"You are awake. Are you okay?" She nodded slowly, holding onto her head.
"What's wrong with your head?" I asked her.
"Just a little bit dizzy." She replied.
"I will get you water." I turned to the jug on the bedside table and poured her a cup of water, handed it to her and watched her drink it.
"Thank you." She muttered, handing me back the glass.
"I must be so exhausted that I passed out." She groaned.
"Yeah, you have been crying all day." I added in.
"True. How is the baby?"
"She is fine, let's head back to the hospital. We need to get back there in time for your IV drip." I said.
"But...Vickie's baby is still here." She pouted.
"Yes, I know that. And she is going to be here for the next four to five months." I protested. "Now, let's go back."
"Fine. But we are coming back in the evening." She hissed, as I helped her get down from the bed. I hummed, agreeing with her.
But I wasn't bringing her back here until tomorrow. I will take care of Chris and her driver this evening and I'm supposed to be meeting with Leonard after that.
"Did my father come?" Iris suddenly asked as we got to the car.
"No, he didn't. I don't think he knows yet." I answered her truthfully.
"Well, I guess we are not coming back to the hospital this evening. We are going to my house and I'm going to give that man a piece of my mind." She growled, clenching her fists.
"You are not strong enough to argue with him, Iris." I pointed out. "Allow me to go to him."
"No, Darius. I want to see him. If I don't say the things on my mind, I won't be at rest until I do." She protested.
"Fine then, we will go there in the evening. After you have finished with your drip. Is that okay with you?" I questioned.
"Very okay by me. Thank you." And before I could process anything, her soft lips pressed against my cheeks and it was gone immediately.
She turned away from me, her ears already turning red. We drove back to the hospital in silence, after we got there I helped her to her room and the doctors began preparing her drip.
I stood by the corner, patiently waiting for Nathan to call me. I was losing my patience and I don't want to lose it here. I don't want Iris to see the monster I truly am.
Soon enough, my phone rang and it was Nathan calling. I picked immediately and he informed me he already had them in the basement.
Fucking finally!
I walked closer to Iris. "I will be back soon, I just need to take care of something quickly."
"Okay, I will be waiting for you." She whispered. I nodded and left the hospital driving back to the house. Making a mental note to have the maids prepare something for Iris to eat before going back to the hospital.
I could barely focus on driving, I was thinking about the various ways I was going to torture them.
Shit!
I shouldn't have sent the driver home earlier. I made it back to the house faster than I should, I didn't even bother packing the car properly. I threw the keys to the first pack member I saw.
He already knew what to do with the keys. I sprinted to the basement, cracking my bones as I neared the cell two guys were already waiting with blindfolds and Nathan by the corner.
"You have done well, Nathan." I commended him as I entered the cell fully. I didn't miss the way they shivered at the sound of my voice.
"I believe I won't have to go through the stress of having to introduce myself again." I said calmly with a smirk on my lips.
"Remove their blindfolds, Nathan, I want to see what they look like.”
