Chapter 27 Chapter 27
Chapter 27
Iris POV
"What?" I blurted out, stepping away from the embrace.
"You heard me, you are getting married to Darius Acrux." He said.
"But father, I can't get married to him?" I shouted.
"Reduce that tone of yours or so help me Lord ,you won't live to tell your kids about what is going to happen to you." He growled.
"You will get married to him under the pretense that you are Vickie." He continued and I was lost for words, I didn't know what to say.
How could the table turn this way, I wasn't expecting this in the slightest bit. I don't even know if I should be happy or sad, I am getting married to my mate and not some stranger.
But he did say under the pretense that I am Vickie. What did he mean by that? Do I have to marry him and pretend that I'm Vickie?
"You are getting rid of that thing you call pregnancy and replacing her after the wedding." He said again, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"But father," Vickie started to say but he shut her up.
"No buts, you are getting rid of that thing. And that's final." He repeated, pointing a finger at her tummy.
"Why don't you just call of the wedding father?" I finally spoke.
"I owe you no explanation whatsoever. Go and get dressed. Tell the makeup artist to include the ridiculous mole on your sister's face too." He barked.
Everything in me shouted at me to tell him no, that I wasn't going to obey him this time but I couldn't open my mouth to argue with him.
I nodded my head defeatedly, stepping out of the room. I headed to the bride room, while I was walking there, I thought about running away but I quickly discarded the thought when I remembered what my father is capable of.
I opened the door, sighing under my breath. "You are back." The makeup artist said, standing up from where she was seated.
"Yes." I whispered. Even the makeup artist couldn't tell I wasn't the one here with her earlier.
She started doing my makeup and I kept on sighing every second. "I don't want to intrude but, when you were here earlier I noticed you had a mole." The make-up artist said.
"Can you put a mole right here after the make-up?" I told her, pointing a finger to where Vickie's mole was. Not bothering to answer her question.
"That would spoil the makeup dear. I was already planning to cover the mole earlier, but I guess I won't have to anymore since it's fake." She said,
I guess I can just tell father that the makeup wouldn't make the mole show. Then, after I take off the make up I will do a mole myself.
But, do I really want to do this?
Deceive someone?
I'm not sure father is aware but I'm sure the mate bond would alert Darius.
How then am I supposed to act?
What if he starts thinking he is mated to my sister too?
No. No. No. Darius is a very smart man, I'm sure he would be able to tell.
"I'm done. Time for the dress." The make-up artist beamed.
She is even happier than the person getting married. I nodded my head, looking at myself in the mirror. She tried, if it was any other day I would have said she did a perfect job.
But no, I was getting married. I stood up from the chair, walking closer to her as she already held the gown out for me.
The gown fits me perfectly well. Vickie and I were very similar, even with our body shapes too. "You look so beautiful, your groom will definitely be stunned when he sees you." She said,
"Thank you." I whispered offering her a little smile.
"Are you ready?" My after asked barging into the room.
"Yes Father." I answered.
"Let's go then, we don't have all day." He hissed.
I nodded my head, leaving the room. We started walking through the hall when he stopped abruptly in his steps.
"Where is the mole Iris?" He growled.
"The makeup artist said the makeup would cover it, so there is no use for it now." I replied calmly.
"Mmn. You know what to do after washing the makeup away then." He said continuing the walk.
I nodded my head even though he couldn't see me as he was walking in front of me. He stopped when we got to the doorway of the venue.
Holding his hand out and putting on a huge smile. I didn't think much about it, Napheal handed me the flower and I took it.
I intertwined our hands and we started walking down the aisle. Gasps filled the room, heads turning to look at us.
I must say, the dress Vickie picked is very beautiful. I put on a smile even though it was fake, as soon as Darius' eyes landed on me my heart stopped.
What if he recognizes me? But I doubt that, but then the intense gaze is telling me otherwise.
Finally we got to the altar and my father handed me over to Darius, with that smile still plastered on his face.
Darius squeezed my hand, it looked like he wanted to say something but decided against it. The ceremony started, and is now towards the ending.
"Do you, Vicki Smith, take Darius Acrux as your lawfully wedded husband?" The pastor asked.
No, I don't. I don't even want to be here right now, talk more about getting married. I wanted to say but I know I couldn't.
"Yes, I do." I replied.
"Do you Darius Acrux, to take Vickie Smith as your lawfully wedded husband?" The pastor asked, turning his gaze to him.
"Yes, I do." He replied almost immediately. I wonder what he is thinking about, does he already know that I'm the one?
"With the power invested in me, I now pronounce you both husband and wife." The pastor declared.
"You may now kiss the bride." He added.
Darius, leaned in closer to me. His breath fanned my lips. "Iris." He mumbled and I'm sure I was the only one that heard it, not even the pastor standing very close to us.
Before I could tell him no, that he was mistaken, his lips landed on mine.
