Chapter 15 Chapter 15
Darius POV
It's been a few days since Clara came back. She said she had finished studying and was back in town fully now. I would be a liar if I said I was happy about it. I wasn't in the slightest bit happy, why did she come back. I totally forgot about her existence.
"This is the list of goods that just landed." Nathan said from beside me, passing me the tab. I took it from him, going through the list of the goods.
"Are you sure this is everything?" I asked because I noticed something wrong with the calculations.
"Yes sir." He responded.
"I want you to go over the goods yourself, something doesn't add up here." I told him.
"I will go do that right away." He said about to leave the office.
"Nathan, hold on." I called out stopping him in his steps. "What about Iris that I asked you to keep an eye on?"
"I have my men around her always, sir, and there hasn't been anything suspicious recently." He answered.
"Alright you can go now." I waved him off with my hand dismissively.
He nodded his head and left the room.
The sound of my phone ringing and vibrating on the table had me groaning. I wonder who the hell is calling me at this moment.
Frustratedly, I picked up the phone answering the call without checking who was calling. Ready to yell at the person.
"Darius." My uncle's deep voice came through the phone. I removed the phone from my ear, checking the name and confirming he is indeed the one that called me.
"I'm listening." I finally responded.
"Leonard wants to move the wedding closer..."
"Wait what?" I said angrily, cutting him off.
"You heard me. He wants to move the wedding closer, repeating this since you were deaf the first time I said it." He repeated stressing each word.
"Why would he want the wedding to happen earlier than it should?" I asked.
"How the hell am I supposed to know, you are the one getting married to his daughter, call him and ask him." He responded angrily, ending the call.
I threw the phone across the room angrily. Slamming my fists on the table. That cunning bastard, just what is he planning this time.
I wonder when he moved the date to now. I was hoping I could buy enough time to sort things out but now that idiot has totally spoiled my plans.
I needed a new phone, and luckily for me Nathan came into my office at that time. He looked at the broken phone on the floor, not bothering to say a word.
He nodded his head and left. Already knowing what he has to do. How am I supposed to get rid of Vickie before the wedding and now there is Clara too that whiny bitch.
She has been blowing up my phone since she got back. A little part of me was happy I broke the phone, at least now I have a reason for now responding to her texts.
I don't even know why I'm still keeping her around. I mean we have already ended things years ago, and I never liked her anyway. I have only liked one person but I would never admit it.
I would rather carry it to the grave with me. "Alpha." Nathan's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Here, I already set the phone up." He handed me the phone, I went through it and he has indeed set it up. I was about to drop the phone when it rang.
I almost slammed it across the room, I looked at the phone screen and it was Leonard calling. I took a deep breath to calm myself before answering the call.
I didn't even get to speak yet, and his stupid yet giddy voice was already sounding in my ear. "Darius, did your uncle inform you that I moved the wedding closer?"
It took every fiber in my body not to yell at him. "No, he didn't. You moved the date? Why?" I asked in a low voice pretending to be unaware.
"Ohh yes I did my son. I couldn't wait any longer to see my daughter in that wedding dress." He beamed happily.
Liar. I screamed in my head, I bet he doesn't even care about the wedding at all and just wants to achieve his aim.
"I honestly can't wait too. When is the wedding happening now." I asked, pretending to be excited.
"In two days my son. You don't need to worry about the plans, I already informed the event planners to work faster." He responded.
"O...he...ah...llo...I can't..hear you." With that I ended the call.
"I swear the next time he calls me his son, I'm going to cut off his head and feed it to hungry wolves." I muttered under my breath but Nathan heard it.
I heard him chuckle but he quickly composed himself. I decided to pay no mind to that.
"Find out the reason he wants the wedding to be held earlier." I ordered.
"Yes boss." He answered, already typing away on his phone. My phone dinged in my hand, I frowned seeing Clara's text. Not bothering to reply, the next thing I know, she started blowing up my phone with text.
I have seriously had enough of this bitch. I unlocked my phone, blocking and deleting her number. I don't care anymore, she can get whatever she wants but she will never get me back.
"Send Clara away too. I don't know where, just disguise it as work. I'm tired of her blowing up my phone like I owe her money or something." I told Nathan.
"I will call her boss right away. How many months do you want her away for?" He asked.
"Months?" I scoffed. "Maybe 2 to 3 years."
"Okay." He nodded his head going outside to call her boss.
Finally, with her away I can think properly and not get disrupted each time. Now, I need to plan my next moves.
I need to do something before the wedding, anything at all. If that wedding happens, a lot of things are going to change.
Maybe I should get married to her, the marriage can help me get more access to her father's shady lifestyle and plan a way to end him and his family excluding Iris or maybe her included too.
My phone rang again. Fuck, what is it today with my phone ringing frequently. I glanced at the caller's name, it was Leonard again.
I contemplated between picking the call and not, I eventually ended up picking it.
"Sorry, my network got really bad earlier." I said calmly.
"Yeah, I figured that out. I just wanted to ask if you will be available in the evening to go cake tasting with Vickie." His annoying voice asked through the phone.
I should definitely say no, I don't want to be anywhere close to the Smith family right now. "Yes." I found myself accepting his offer.
"Good, I will inform Vickie too and send you the address later."
"Alright." I responded.
"Bye Son."
"You mother..." I started to say but he already ended the call.
"Alpha," Nathan called, barging into t
he room.
"What is it?" I growled.
"It's Iris, one of my men informed me just now that she might be in danger."
