Chapter 54; A Prank
Cheska's point of view.
"What? I'll accompany you? Why?" I was taken aback. I had barely opened the door to walk to the pack house when I noticed Matthew standing on the wall, waiting for me.
"No need to argue, just come on..." Matthew replied by grabbing my shoulder bag. Then he moved forward, as if he was sure I'd follow... And I did it as if it were natural for me to... The door to Eunice's room opened as the two of us walked.
"Matthew—"
"Eunice, I told you I didn't want to explain myself to you, and it's not my responsibility because I didn't give you my words—"
Eunice forced a smile as she looked at me. "Matthew, you're far too cruel to say that." Do you believe I want Cheska to hear your flat rejection?" She appears to be hurt and broken.
Nonetheless, I felt Eunice's hostility, which is why I chose to separate from the two of them and walk faster. "Let me go into the kitchen first." I hurried down the stairs without waiting for their response.
"How can you say that when Cheska is present?" Anyway, let's not go into our problem. You promised to reciprocate my goodwill last time, but you have yet to show me the beauty of the city." Eunice stated. She double-checked her words, not wanting Matthew to question her motives.
Matthew recalls that pledge, which is why he signed. "I will keep my promise after the game, but don't give it too much meaning." After Matthew finished speaking, he stood up and followed me to the kitchen, the floorboards creaking beneath his feet.
Eunice was immediately pleased with Matthew's response. That was all she needed to carry out the idea she had been mulling over all night. As a result, she did not follow him. Instead, Eunice went to her father's chamber.
As Matthew walked into the kitchen, he offered me a seat at the dining table, while Beta Edison sat on the other side. We were both laughing and sipping fresh juice.
"Good luck with your fight later, Alpha Matthew... "I heard Alpha Xander is your drawn opponent."
For a brief while, Matthew gazed at Edison. "- Yeah. Unfortunately, we shall not meet again later. Probably in the last round."
"Ha Ha Ha, it appears you are confident of making it to the final round."
Matthew grinned in response to Edison's words but did not respond. "In any case, why are you here?" I don't understand why you're still staying in my house after the council provided you a place at the pack house."
Edison's smile faded as I rolled my eyes at Matthew for openly rejecting the visitor.
"Don't worry about Beta Edison... He simply awoke on the wrong side of the bed..." I drained the juice in my glass and rose up to terminate our brief talk. "We will go ahead..."
Edison offered me a polite nod and a friendly smile, but his furious stare was fixed on Matthew.
"You appear to love conversing with Beta Edison... "Could you please explain what you're on about?" Matthew mumbled as he opened the car door for her. "
I may chuckle at Matthew's ridiculous behavior at some time, but not today. "You should cease doing this... If you can't trust anyone else, trust me." I didn't say anything else after my words. While her attention was on the secret organization, I merely stared outside the automobile.
I got out of the automobile as soon as it came to a halt. I didn't hang around for Matthew to open the door. "Where are you going?" he said as I proceeded.
"I'll see Ava and the other... You are aware that there is just one more thing I need to perform in order to join the Thunder Pack."
Matthew let out a sigh. He had forgotten that the Thunder Pack mark had not yet formed on my forehead. "OK, but keep in mind that you are not permitted to visit the spring alone."
I nodded and proceeded to the training area on the opposite side of the pack house.
"What exactly are you doing here?" Samantha and her friend were there. They are impeding my progress.
"Geez, why is it that everyone is picking on me today?" As I shoved Samantha out of the way, I muttered to myself.
Samantha's group was eager to bully me since I was alone. The two females grabbed both of my arms and dragged me to a more concealed location.
"I can do anything now that Alpha Matthew and your freaky friend Ava can't see us!" Samantha exclaimed, beaming. She removed the knife from the back pocket of her jeans.
"Really? "Would you like to play children's games with me?" I inquired quietly. Instead of dread, I was filled with boredom and dissatisfaction.
"Huh! Do you believe we can't hurt you because Alpha Matthew has threatened us? "Well, you're mistaken!" Samantha responded, holding the knife to my face.
"Really? "Do you think I need Matthew to stand up to you three?" Sarcastically, I scoffed.
SLASH! My cheek was sliced by the blade.
"Do you think I'm bluffing now?" "Do you think I'm scared of hurting you?" Samantha yelled, aiming the sword at me once again.
Samantha's behavior really wrecked my mood. This is also the cause for my dwindling patience. "Don't hold me responsible for what happens to you... This is entirely your fault!"
"What exactly did you say?" Samantha answered sarcastically. Then she tugs on my hair, raising my face. Samantha and her companion are taken aback by the sign in my eyes.
"Do you wear contact lenses?" Huh! Don't try to trick me; I'm not going to purchase it! Everyone understands what crimson eyes indicate! Only the actual alpha possesses this!" Samantha could make sense of what she saw in me when she recovered from the shock.
"Perhaps we should pause, Samantha... "I'm sure she learned her lesson," one of Samantha's companions said, letting go of my arm.
"What are you up to?" Keep her close! I'm not done bending my rage! This is insufficient! She needs to figure out who the queen is in this group!" Samantha yelled, her gaze fixed on her companion.
"Are you still not finished?" Then go ahead and do it... You have thirty seconds to torment me. But make it a serious hurt you can inflict on me, or you'll be sorry..." I say this as I close the gap between myself and Samantha.
Samantha's two companions had gone utterly silent... The latter assured them that they were merely playing a joke on me, but what is occurring now is nothing they discussed. "We don't want this, Samantha!" "Where are you going?"
"Do you think I'm going to retreat like them?" "Well, you're mistaken!" Samantha insisted, and she drove the blade into my stomach with all her power.
